"The Greeks were dumb," Harry had to concur. "They didn't even try out their new, army-sized climbing-frame before they curled up for bed," he said with a roll of his eyes, "whereas I checked every corner before going to sleep. No armies hiding under the bed, promise," he told Karrin with a grin. It didn't mean the place wasn't a cunning ploy, it just meant that Harry hadn't worked out the angle yet.
He waited another beat for the attack to come and when it didn't he shot a look Murphy's way. "It's different, alright. Usually one of the Sidhe's trying to trick me into some pact or other by now," but still nothing. He appreciated the gentle reassurance Murphy offered him and gave her hand a squeeze of thanks. "Alright, I'm going out to see what the hell's wrong with this thing," Harry said being careful to leave the wards intact as he stepped out of the circle.
Huh. The Way was open alright, but instead of water, rock or fire he found himself staring out at nothing. Literally. "We're not clicking our heels together to get home from here, Murph," Harry said as he continued to stare into a dark void of un-ending emptiness. "In fact, I'm not sure there's a home to get to," he said dropping the wards so Murphy could come and see for herself.
