"I do not know," Morgan let the device answer for her. "Where I am from, what's able to scan my species cannot look beyond whatever we mimic." She paused before elaborating, "a mug is a mug, to that scanner. That you can scan beyond Morgan is interesting and adds to my research." The file for Alex kept on growing, and the more she added, the less likely it was she'd end up under contained observation.
"What is your purpose?" Morgan wondered why his people decided to make him. She theorized the answer was greed. It was why Transtar had researched, and then exploited, her own species and seemed the general answer to why humans did most of everything. But theories could be wrong. That the question could be seen as rude didn't register, not really.
"I am learning." She paused then added, "to pretend, at least. I know I am supposed to care for my friends and family. So I show them that." She didn't know if it would ever translate to actual emotions. She'd have to find out how much of Morgan was still left in her. "I have noticed this trend. They are sad for those who cannot be sad. It is curious."
