So, uh. What's the best really good date location in Vallo for somebody who doesn't have a ton of money for expensive restaurants? Asking for a friend who possibly looks the same as me, if you happen to see him checking out said places.

I know there's a few, but every time I try to look something seems to happen so I figured I'd ask the masses and hopefully I'm not just cursed?

Have you ever wanted to look at my face and go "wow, he can sing, but what a prick"? Or write blog posts about the worst characters in musical theater?

Are you hiring any teachers still for anything vocal or acting? I need a jo Any gaps you need filling there in the LEAST dirty way I can possibly word this?

Rosh Hashanah will be upon us soon, and it's one of the holidays I do try to celebrate here - I can't say I am good about celebrating all of them, in accordance with my faith, but I have the time and space to at least try so that's what I plan to do again. I also plan to host a dinner at our penthouse, for anyone interested in attending and you don't have to be Jewish, you can just like food - the standard Rosh Hashanah foods will be available (challah, apples and honey, etc) but I also plan to rope my grandson Tommy into helping me make plenty of pierogi (surprise, Tommy). Everything will take place on the evening of September 6th.

One of the traditions for Rosh Hashanah is also to try something new, a hobby or a game or visit a new place, or make a list of what you no longer need and getting rid of those things - to make a donation. For that part, Anka Irene will help me - she has a lot of toys and clothes that could be donated elsewhere, and it's always a good feeling to kind of start fresh with things. Even if sometimes, here, we're forced to start over again very unexpectedly sometimes.

Well, I for one don't mind seeing summer drift into autumn - Vallo's weather wasn't quite as hot as home, but that hardly matters when fall - the objectively best season - is on its way (I will acknowledge no counter-arguments.)

Quur was a tropical climate; it was either baking heat or monsoon season. I had the brilliant idea as a small child to wear black as my signature color and I stuck to this notion through most of my teens and early 20s. Literally, I stuck to it. It was unpleasantly hot enough that I stuck to most of my clothes despite the odd cooling charms and my preference for shaded libraries and damp stone alcoves. And that was in the coldest part of the year!

But now...! Delightful. And I've noted that the bakeries and coffee shops have already begun to sell their autumnal offerings. Hello, hello. I can't help it; it's like a warm hug, or a letter from a friend you haven't seen in months, or a forbidden book of arcane magics once thought lost turning up at last. Wonderful! I may even leave my office and socialize to enjoy all of this.

It is day three of school and I had one of my students that I taught last year stop and give me a pastry before classes started and it gave me a feeling that I think some might describe as "warm" and "fuzzy".

On a less sentimental note: a new podcast should become available this evening, for those who are interested in such things. Topics include a slightly deeper dive into the manipulation of time and the historical hurdles can crop up within that scope of magic, a story about how I solely used Mage Hand to cause general mayhem to my younger brother when our mother was not around after I first learned it as a youth, and a comprehensive and infallible list of the best autumnal beverages and foods around Vallo -- as they say on various internet articles, number one will shock you. (Note: Number one will not shock you, if you know me at all.)

So, full disclosure, I spent so long writing these applications that I kind of forgot that we need to sign… literally three days from now if we want the place. In the interest of streamlining this, just tell me if you’re still interested and feel free to ignore the second half of the application unless you really want to answer those questions for some reason.

[Attached is a PDF file. The first half is pretty basic information one would expect on any sort of application. Name, age, etc. The second half has questions like “The smoke detector’s battery dies in the middle of the night. Are you the one volunteering to hold the ladder, or the one risking a broken neck on that wobbly ladder to unplug it because it just needs to stop?” and “How long would you leave cranberry juice in the fridge without at least checking the expiration date?” There are also six multiple choice questions about various fabrics and how they should be cleaned if one were to try to misguidedly surprise a roommate by doing their laundry. The option that says ‘Dry-clean Only’ is bolded in the answers for every single one.]
