"It isn't your fault," she said simply, not being one to blame those not responsible for actions that took place beyond their control. Laudna didn't hold grudges or try to really dwell on anything if she could help it. Especially not things out of her control. But she liked that his hand was warm and comforting, and she let him hold her without protest. It was endearing, and he'd been nothing but kind.
"I was young, twenty or so. I hadn't seen any of the world to that point, and was untrained in the arts of magic but I knew I had skill." Laudna had a smile on her face, but it was a humorless one. "I'd hoped Lady Briarwood would take me under her wing and teach me, at one point. That was a foolish thought, wasn't it?"
Especially considering how things had ended up. Delilah, there, in the back of her head, chuckled quietly at the fact that she had been one to teach Laudna the arts, but only after it had gone to hell in a handbasket first.
