A Very Exandrian Dinner Party

WHAT'S UP?

With so many new faces from Exandria arriving in Vallo, Cassandra decided it was high time that they all got to meet up, swap stories, and eat some good food! Using her experience as one of the ladies and nobles of Whitestone, she decided to helm this herself.

A potluck style of a dinner, Cassandra did ensure that there was enough "main course" kind of foods around, so they weren't only eating dessert--whether that would have been an issue or not remains to be seen. There would have been roast chicken, a beef stew of some kind, and a tomato/chickpea tart for any vegetarians (or anyone else that wanted it). It was all catered, because she's not here for cooking, unless there is someone in the Xhorhaus with more skills that wanted to take direction from her. Outside of that, the other dishes were dependent on what people brought!

Besides that, there was lots of room for conversation, drinking, hot tubbing(??), and whatever else you got up to.

Laudna, Caleb and Yasha are there!

Yasha is not the most chatty of mine but she's trying to be friendly and welcoming. She's not awkward at all, and will make sure to break any awkward silences with some kind of short blunt story. Or her harp.

Caleb is helping host and is my biggest introvert of the three. He won't outright engage in too much but he is 👀 at the awkwardness.

Laudna, though. Oh laudna. For one she'll be taking a walk alone (sorry Imogen!) near the end of the party. But before that - she'll have Pate with her, and be outwardly cheerful and trying to keep the topics light, but she WILL slip up occasionally. She'll mention Pate's full name, she may bring up living in Whitestone during the Briarwood, being dead, etc. People are free to note any of them or ask questions but she won't go toooo deep over dinner.

	SO when Laudna mentioned being during Whitestone during the Briarwoods, Cassandra very much got quiet and probably drained her wine. She also was like ?? at Pate being a de Rolo, lol. She's very curious about Laudna, but doesn't want to press so she was very 👀👀 (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Cassandra was doing her level best to channel Lady Cassandra (etc etc) de Rolo and be a very good host. If conversation lulled too long, she'd try to come up with something none too controversial to focus on. She said hello to everyone, made an effort to hold conversation, all that. She's very good at this, partially thanks to her past and also because she genuinely likes meeting new people. She had a lot of questions for the new folks, especially about their travels and everything else. There might have been a few moments during things Laudna dropped where she got quiet and contemplative, but she tried not to make it too obvious; people that know her real well might have seen it, though.

Essek is not my most social, but he grew up learning how to fake it and he's oh so very good at doing that. He stayed close to Caleb, kept one of his eyes on Kiri, and otherwise did do his best to engage with the others without showing too clearly that he thinks they're all... unique. Luckily, he's used to unique adventurers, even if Bells Hells is kind of something all their own.

He provided wine--all stupid expensive, some from Exandria from his cellar in his tower, some local from Vallo--and also cake to celebrate Caleb's birthday a week early. It was this cake, though the frosting was orange. Yes, he made it himself. No, he hasn't attempted to make a cake since Jester's apology cake. It tasted good, at least!

Orym was his polite, concientious self! He would have engaged in conversation, but he was definitely keeping an eagle eye on his people and tried to keep track of where they were and whether things were getting tense or not. He was also just kind of observing the others, may or may not have made a stink eye or two at Vax, but would have engaged in conversation when directed at him. He mostly let their more charismatic shine. He brought a very berry fruit salad.

Vax was also around! Though he's not completely lost in social graces and he did notice the awkward moments, he's pretty friendly and would have helped keep conversation going. Some of the reason for the awkward probably went over his head, but he filed it away to discuss with the others later. He "helped" Gilmore with what he brought as a dish to pass, what a helpful guy.

Excuse me, everyone, I hope you were prepared for the MOST OTT charcuterie plate of all time--it's literally the one in the picture, IDK what all was there but like, meats folded like flowers, cheeses, fruits, crackers, amazing dips/condiments, obviously both color coordinated and coordinated for a festivity of the pallet, thank you, Shaun Gilmore. Who is also super comfortable in a crowd, talking to everyone, making jokes, he remembers details, asks questions, is just so sincerely interested in everything, this is like His Thing.

Chet kept an eye out for The Signal from Laudna, and then another eye out on Vax, and probably spent time whittling away at something, but he WANTS to be good. He knows when he needs to make a good impression! He's better with listening to people than he is actually conversing...unless you want to talk about wood.

FCG brought his own snack of copper pieces and nuts and bolts! Probably tried to engage everyone in an ice breaker that maybe worked only because people started talking about how much they hate ice breakers?? Does anyone need advice? A sounding board? OR want to see FCG balance a bunch of platters around?

	I was looking for charcuterie pictures for the header and was like WAIT JADE ALREADY PROVIDED PERFECTION so yw for the representation, Gilmore. Also yw for your boyfriend apparently claiming "what's mine is yours" already in regards to this. Also, I feel like Cass probably asked Chet about wood so please deliver a lecture on that to her. Imogen arrived with the rest of the Hells Bells crew! She was slightly nervous for both herself (ugh parties) and Laudna, but did her level best to be as normal as possible.

She was quiet, but friendly and did try to engage in some of the conversations. She'd be happy to discuss magic with any of the other magic users there. She's obviously extremely defensive of Laudna, so if anyone was less than polite and kind to her gf, you're getting death glares all night.

She tries to avoid it if possible cause it generally makes people feel weird, but if the topic came around to it, she'd likely share with the group that she can hear thoughts.

She brought homemade biscuits and a large salad to share!

Essek would have probably talked magic shop with Imogen! He's very curious about different kinds of magic, so he'd have probably asked some general questions, as much as she was comfortable sharing! Cass also did her best to try to make Imogen feel comfortable after their conversation, but tried not to be too overbearing because she knows that kind of attention can just be too much.

Orym probably checked in with her once or twice, as well!

She'll happily talk magic with Essek! With regard to Cass, Imogen really does appreciate her trying to make her comfortable. If it doesn't come up with the rest of the group, she'd probably privately explained to her about the whole "I can hear thoughts" thing to better explain why she gets so overwhelmed. We can say she shared that with Essek too, actually. Cause why not.

Dorian came! He was in overly gracious, incredibly polite, almost in host mode—even though it wasn't his dinner party or his house. He was, however, overly observant of the Bell's Hells crew, because they had a signal. Maybe not a signal? Either way, Dorian was extremely pleasant and conversed with literally everyone (and maybe tried to keep his discussions with Gilmore simple because the last time he did a little meet-and-greet he spilled all his family story in one go. OOPS!)
He even bothered the wallflower wizards. Don't @ me.

Shared some food with Orym ( or at least brought him a little plate of food of appetizers), just because he was all Observant™, and Dorian wanted him to enjoy some of the dinner party. These things usually aren't supposed to be TENSE. (That's what Dorian says, at least.)

He brought a dessert, that he did not make. There's no way.

Orym appreciates you keeping him fed, Dorian. He would have relaxed visibly when he was around for, you know, ~reasons~ lol.

That said, my others would have found him pretty charming. Vax has already spent time during the meet-and-greet so he's used to it, but Cass thought he was delightful and Essek would have chatted with him a bit, asked about where he was from, that kind of thing!

Fjord freely mingled with everyone, because he's a Face character of course. Tried to start up conversations with just about anyone, talked about the Ball Eater if anyone wanted to see the sea/ocean/whatever it is, and was generally a pretty chill dude. He'd obviously be conscious of where Jester is, because he just likes looking at her.

Dariax is a SLUT for social gatherings, so he'd be eating and talking and telling stories and be pretty much as you expect him to be. Though he'd mostly spend time around Dorian, Fearne, and Orym. he doesn't know about The Signal.
