WHAT: Date night and DTR happens (along with garlic knot consumption) WHERE: Sofia's, then Elsa's cottage in New Asgard WHEN: Tonight! WARNINGS: Nah STATUS: Complete
It was date night, and although there was no shortage of restaurants in Vallo City proper, Kate had decided that tonight, they would go on an adventure.
Sofia’s was well-known to Outlanders and locals alike. The little eatery was almost impossible to find the first time around; Kate herself had quite literally stumbled across it. Her stomach had been growling one night near the end of patrol when the scent of garlic butter wafted toward her and got her mouth watering. In her hurry to find the source, she’d definitely tripped over a giant tortoise and just barely stopped herself from face planting at the front door.
Their food was, by far, the best Italian she’d found in Vallo so far. It reminded her of this one authentic little spot she’d found tucked away in Brooklyn but even better. Dramatic as it may sound, the tiramisu was to die for. She’d probably eaten too much that night, but it was worth it. So totally worth it.
Now, with date night upon them, she was eager to take Elsa to witness it all in person. Weirdly, although she’d never found the restaurant on her phone’s GPS before, after that first night, it was always there. Never in the same place, but she could find it, almost like unlocking a location on the map in a video game. Which, for all she knew, was exactly the inspiration behind this place, but she wasn’t going to dig that hole too deeply.
Sofia’s wasn’t especially fancy that she’d noticed, but they hadn’t looked terribly pleased when she’d come in dirt-stained. Thankfully, she had expanded her wardrobe since she’d received her trust fund (thanks Vallo!), and she knew Elsa would like it if she dressed up. So, she pulled out a suit in her signature color, straightened her mane of curls, and made sure to find appropriate jewelry (silver, mostly, including the woven bracelet Elsa had gifted her for Valentine’s Day that she kept wrapped around her left wrist).
That hand was currently holding Elsa’s, their fingers intertwined while she followed the GPS in her right hand toward Sofia’s current location. It claimed they were just a few yards away, and there was definitely this off-putting feeling of all-consuming darkness. They had to be in the right place. “Hold on to me,” she told Elsa, giving their joined fingers a quick squeeze. “Pretty sure if you don’t come through with me, it’s gonna move again.”
In a startling twist of events, Elsa decided to not wear her own signature shade, that ice blue - she went with something new, something she hadn’t gotten a chance to wear for a night out yet but it was a dress she’d picked up during a burning desire to spend some of her paycheck on a couple new outfits (as treats for herself); it was a plaid pattern that had a burgundy red sort of backdrop, the dress an elegant silhouette and very retro swing. She’d paired it with a pair of pumps that were also new, and a little more daring than kitten heels - oh my, what was happening to her? She’d even worn her hair down, the pale blonde tresses free from the confines of a braid and just flowing freely about her shoulders.
She held onto Kate’s hand, slightly nervous but very excited - both Gale and Bruni had followed them here, the little fire salamander zipping in and out of the brush and making all these crackly sounds. Gale was a scout, or wanted to be, blowing ahead and then swirling back - she’d tickle their noses and flutter their hair a little, letting them know it was safe to continue. Elsa could tell that her wind companion especially was a little apprehensive about all of this - but she knew the notes her mother used to use to call to Gale, when Iduna needed her, so it would be fine; Elsa was bonded with these particular elemental spirits anyway.
“It’s okay, Gale,” she said just to be reassuring - the feeling of having a chasm of cold wind right at the back of you, something distinctly different from the friendly hugs Gale could provide, must mean that the Void was upon them. “We’re only going inside to eat. And no, I don’t think we can bring fire salamanders into the place either.”
Bruni looked up at her with big, sad, soulful eyes - but why not, he seemed to chirp.
“Restaurant policy - but if you want to walk us back home, we’d like that,” Elsa added. Then she turned to glance at Kate, hands still linked, and she bumped shoulders. “I’m ready. And hungry. So let’s do this.”
Kate admired Elsa’s fortitude in the face of Bruni’s big, sad eyes. She was all set to offer the salamander a ride in the pocket of her jacket, but this was probably the better route. She doubted Bruni would cause much chaos, but he’d also probably be less than thrilled to be confined to a cloth prison. Out here, he could still run free with Gale in pursuit, and she knew they’d both be faithfully waiting when dinner was over.
She grinned at her date, giving her another onceover - because she looked beautiful, like always, and Kate just loved drinking her in - then bumped her shoulder back. “Same,” she proclaimed. “I’m dying for some garlic knots.”
Almost as if summoned by those very words, Sofia’s came into view. It was a quaint little place (tonight, anyway; Kate wouldn’t be surprised if its appearance changed as often as its location), and Kate reached out to open the heavy wooden door.
“I’ve heard so many good things about these garlic knots, I hope they live up to expectations,” Elsa laughed, an easy breezy sort of sound - she honestly didn’t even know about this place and had been in the dark about Void Italian fare until Kate raved about the food after her accidental foray inside. And, well, why not try it out? She liked Italian food too. Pretty much any kind of food though, to be fair - one of the best things about Vallo was trying new things in terms of culinary delights.
The restaurant had a lovely aesthetic - red and white checkered tablecloths, dripping candles (the wax looked like cake icing, it seemed to suit the ambiance perfectly), wine bottle bottoms in wicker baskets. Once they were seated Elsa decided to have a look at the wine menu to see what she might want to order - just one glass. “It’s on me tonight, by the way,” she added, glancing up with a smile. “I sold another auragraph so I have some extra money. Apparently I’m pretty good at those.” It was also nice to receive support from coven mates, who had shown her the way (and nice to even be in a coven at all).
“Who knew auragraphs had such good going rates,” Kate chuckled, but it made sense around here. Magic was everywhere, and Elsa was definitely good at what she did. The Brorose coven members had been taken with her right from the start, and she had fit in with them seamlessly. She knew it would never be the same as Arendelle, but with the Spirits slowly popping up here in Vallo, home seemed to have come to her to help her settle in.
“I guess this one time, I’ll let you break our deal,” she agreed with a playful smile. Usually, they went with asker pays, but she would make it up and pay for the next two - and by now, she knew there would be two, more than, to pay for and she had the money to spare. But she knew it was important that Elsa pay when she offered, so she’d let it slide.
“I’m so proud of you, you know. You’re a rockstar, babe.” She nudged Elsa’s foot with her own beneath the small round table they were seated at and smiled at her softly. “I’ll have to have you do my auragraph soon. It can join my Elsa original on the wall of my room. Or my own place, once I move out.”
She should probably be in more of a hurry to move out, but she was content at Mobius and Loki’s right now. Living on her own hadn’t served her well - Yelena would be quick to point that out, if only to mock her for her lack of cutlery again. Being around people, even Loki, was what she felt like she needed right now.
Elsa waved off the praise, kind of like oh you, but she was definitely blushing a little because she just wasn’t used to hearing people compliment her like that. Her parents had passed away long ago and the only one she could really count on to support and encourage art as a hobby was likely Anna - her and Kristoff and Olaf, of course, the small family Elsa found herself loving deeply. But growing up, her royal advisors would have considered such pursuits frivolous - not to mention tapping into magic, using art to paint a picture (literally) that was a representation of a person’s soul, their past and present and future? Wouldn’t fly.
However, she didn’t have to worry about that here - she had plenty of support. Now she just had to learn to believe people when they said it.
“Are you thinking about moving out?” she asked curiously, before she placed an order for a glass of something red - something with so many intriguing notes like blackberry, coffee, the earth itself. “Mobius would miss you but I’m sure he’d be supportive. Though either way, I’ll do an auragraph for you,” she reached across the table to connect her hands with Kate’s - surprisingly, Elsa was pretty tactile when she was comfortable enough. “I’m sure it will show nothing but beautiful things.”
Kate smiled, taking both of Elsa’s hands in hers and gazing at her adoringly. She would heap praise upon her as often as she could. She knew she hadn’t gotten enough of it growing up, and she deserved it. She was smart and kind and so talented. She deserved to hear that the people she loved were proud of her, after so long being stifled, and to know that it was sincere.
“I hope you’re right,” she replied with a soft laugh. She thought of her dad, gone long before his time, and her mom, working hand-in-hand with Kingpin for all those years, and she wasn’t so sure. But she wouldn’t linger on those thoughts - it was sweet that Elsa wanted to think so highly of her. She truly did hope whatever darkness was shown in her past would be overrun by light in her present and her future - and if either of those included the woman across from her, she was sure they would.
Back to the original question, though. “I’ve thought about moving out but not too seriously yet,” she clarified, shrugging one shoulder. “I’m sure Mobius would miss me, but he also didn’t sign up for a permanent roomie. And neither did Loki. They’re a couple, and I’m sure they’d appreciate more freedom to do…couple things.”
Elsa was one-hundred percent sure that her girlfriend (they should probably use the official term, silly as it was - but it helped with clarification?) was overall full of light; everyone had their darker sides, of course, and had the potential to tap into those less than savory aspects - but Kate had never embodied anything less than a hero, to her. The essence of a hero was to help people, to put their priorities above your own - sometimes you needed to take matters into your own hands to do that, and Kate had never been afraid to.
It also got her into trouble a little, and Elsa supposed she could be reckless sometimes - but she wasn’t her mother and Elsa was determined to remind her of that whenever necessary.
“Of course I’m right,” she scoffed playfully, squeezing Kate’s hands before pulling back so she could butter a chunk of bread (carbs, give her carbs). “And even if you moved out, it’s not like you’d be very far - there are plenty of cottages in New Asgard.” It was such a quaint, beautiful little spot off the coast - Elsa was glad she was able to live there as opposed to Morningside which would have been fine but also not very...her. “But there’s no rush, I’m sure. I think they like having someone to dote on.” She just got that vibe.
Bread, that was an excellent idea. Kate released Elsa’s hands without any complaint, patiently sipping at her glass of ice water (two had appeared shortly after Elsa’s request for wine) until the bread was released so she could pull off a hunk for herself. Italian food always consisted of a ridiculous amount of carbs, but she was absolutely here for it. Carbs just made things more delicious, that was a fact.
“Yeah, I’ll probably consider it a little more if I’m still around in a couple of months. I’m comfortable right now, and Mobius would miss Licorice if I up and left,” she joked. The kitten had become very attached to Mobius and his sort of fatherly/grandfatherly way about him. Nearly every time Kate went out and came home, she’d find her cat attached to her Vallo-dad in some fashion when she returned.
“Maybe I’ll just have to spend more time at your place and let him and Loki have their alone time,” she added. She tried to split her time pretty evenly, but given the benefits that came with staying over at Elsa’s (kissing and lots of it), she did tend to be there probably just a bit more than she was in the room that was actually meant to be her own. “Which - I thought we should talk, by the way. About how things are going with us, I mean. How are you feeling with everything?”
“You’re always welcome - I like having you there,” Elsa admitted, a bashful glance down into her wine glass before she looked up with happiness sparking in her eyes. She had her nature companions, but they all made their own way outdoors and in the great wide open - and while she was used to being by herself, she found that knowing she could count on Kate coming by and curling up with her to watch a movie, or stay over (she even had an extra toothbrush for Kate), or knowing that she could visit any of her neighbors for a cup of tea, maybe, was a new sort of fulfilling for her.
But right, talk - usually a word like that filled her with anxiety (it wasn’t difficult to do that either), however, she didn’t need to feel that way now. Being in a relationship meant being communicative, or else things would start to unravel very quickly. “I’m feeling great about it all,” she confessed. “I thought - I wasn’t certain when to start using the term girlfriend but I think that applies?”
Maybe it sounded silly to have to ask - no way to know unless she did ask, right?
It wasn’t silly at all, and the smile that had appeared on Kate’s face should, hopefully, be enough to reassure Elsa of that. This was new territory - for them both but for Elsa, especially - and yeah, sometimes asking was a necessity. She liked to think they’d been doing pretty well communicating this entire time, but after their ‘we’re only seeing each other’ talk, they’d mostly just gone about their business and kept on like that.
Now they were getting to labels, and Kate was a big advocate that it wasn’t really needed if you didn’t want it. But she wanted it, those words mattered to her, and she was thrilled to hear Elsa wanted to start using the ‘girlfriend’ term. “Me too,” she agreed earnestly. “I’ve sort of been - calling you that in my head already, honestly. But I didn’t want to jump too far ahead, either. I know this is big and new for you.”
She liked the idea of Elsa being her girlfriend, though, officially. She had already considered her as much and had even sort of skirted around saying and writing the word because of uncertainty the last couple of months. But they felt like girlfriends, and now - well, signed, sealed, delivered, right?
Elsa breathed out a sigh of relief. They were briefly interrupted so they could order some void Italian food (it was fettuccine alfredo for her - oh, and those garlic knots as an appetizer. Always the garlic knots) but then she was back in this conversation, feeling emboldened by those few sips of wine.
“I’ve been calling you that in my head too,” she laughed a little. “And when I dreamed of Anna, I told her all about you - I happened to use the term, even if I wasn’t sure. But it works. It’s what I want and if you want that too, then - that’s a good thing.”
She appreciated that they were on the same page about everything. Plus she also appreciated that Kate was willing to go at her pace, considering Elsa had never done any of this before. There was no pushing her into anything or making her feel like it was a race - it was honestly so relieving. “Things seem very unstable here and we just had a lot of disappearances,” she added, finger tracing the edge of her delicate wine glass. “But I’m still willing to take the risk. Hunkering down and avoiding attachments isn’t the best thing either, even if it may keep you safe from heartbreak.”
A lot of things kept you safe from heartbreak though. That didn’t mean they were worth doing.
Chicken parmesan for Kate, no hesitations, followed by a sip of that red Elsa had ordered, finally. It was good; excellent choice. Hopefully, not too pricey, but Kate kept that thought to herself. She’d agreed to let Elsa pay and she would, even if she preferred not letting her waste her money. They were doing the equals thing here, and Kate showered her with enough unexpected gifts (mostly in the form of sweets, which she knew would always be a hit) as it was.
And, God, she felt that about the disappearances. The sheer amount of them lately had been a big neon light that this place, no matter how much you settled in and made yourself at home, wasn’t definitive, ever. This place wasn’t home home - more like a monster-filled vacation home but one you didn’t mind being in because the good mostly overwhelmed the bad - but she liked it. The disappearances were just a reminder that it was all up to Vallo, and all they really had was hope.
“Yeah, I agree.” She nodded, reaching across the table again, just for a moment to stroke Elsa’s fingers with her own. “It’s scary as hell, but we can’t stop living because of it. I care about you, and even if I’m swooped out of here someday…I think it would be worth it. Better to have it and lose it, then avoid it all and have regrets. And I’m really glad I have you.”
Elsa felt the same way. She was done with playing it safe - if she had kept on with that, she never would have had her adventure meeting the Northuldra or being able to set the wrongs committed by her grandfather actually right. And she’d still be miserable as Queen, even though Anna was much more suited for the role - it was what she wanted. Elsa? Not so much.
Her touch was surprisingly warm when she brushed her fingers over Kate’s again. “Well, I hope you don’t get swooped out of here - but I know what you mean. If I get swooped out, you’ll still know how much I care about you and how glad I was - and am - to have built this with you. I mean...” She glanced around, giggling a bit out of sheer awe of their surroundings. The fact that they were actually here was still something of a shock to her - and she knew Bruni and Gale were waiting diligently outside too, just beyond the doors and probably playing in nearby meadows.
“Where else are we going to get Void garlic knots?”
“Literally nowhere,” Kate chuckled. “Unless there are competing Void restaurants we just don’t know about.” She paused, lips pursing and curiosity lighting her expression. “There’s a thought.”
The aforementioned garlic knots arrived, and Kate allowed Elsa first dibs while she grabbed her wine glass and her chair and shifted around the table. She wanted to be closer - not pressed up against each other but close enough to lean in and kiss her girlfriend’s cheek without having to stretch. Which she did, soft and brief, before scooping up a garlic knot of her own.
“For the record, building this relationship with you has been the best part of my Vallo life,” she told her sincerely, heart racing as she met that ice blue gaze. It had been a little bit like a fantasy come true at first, but it was better than that now. It was real, grounded but wonderful in a way she hadn’t experienced before. “And I hope we get to keep building it, for a long time. Provided there’s no swooping, obviously.”
She couldn’t promise to stay because no one could. But she was going to try her damnedest and make the best of every second she got. With Elsa, Mobius, Nat - all the people who had become so important to her.
The intimacy of the restaurant, and sitting side by side, warmed Elsa from the inside - it was so cozy in here and she was looking forward to really enjoying dinner. And if she bumped elbows with Kate, then so be it - it was date night, so basically everything seemed amped up when it came to romance.
“No swooping,” she agreed, clinking her glass against Kate’s. They both knew it could happen - but Elsa saw no reason to dwell on it. If she did get swooped away she’d want Kate to be happy, to find someone she could share her Vallo life with whenever she was ready - she was such a caring person and a bright light to the world and holding that back would be depriving Vallo of great things. “I even like you enough to not eat all of the garlic knots.”
That was a joke but it was true - sharing was caring. And you know it was on the way to being fairytale love when it involved sharing food, of all things.
“Careful, you’re gonna make me swoon,” Kate teased. She tore her garlic knot in half and dipped it in the marinara that had been provided, letting out a pleased hum when the flavors hit her tongue. “God, that’s good.”
Dinner passed surprisingly quickly and was absolutely delicious. It felt like they’d been there for hours (in a good way) by the time they’d collected their leftovers in a brown paper bag with Sofia’s logo stamped on it. It was about the size of a toddler, but Kate carried it back for them without any trouble. She was pretty sure Gale lent an assist on their walk home, taking some of the weight from Kate while Bruni leapt down the path ahead of them, lighting the way with little sparks off his tail.
New Asgard was dark and quiet, only a few cottage windows still lit. Kate took the leftovers inside Elsa’s cottage to store them in the refrigerator, then followed Elsa into the bedroom and snagged her girlfriend around the waist to pull her in for a kiss. “I had a really good time tonight,” she murmured, bumping their foreheads together gently. “Thank you for dinner. I get the next two, no arguments.”
It was a wonder Elsa made it home at all, without needing to be rolled. Those garlic knots were fantastic and her main course, the fettuccine, had been so good - and the leftovers would also be swiftly eaten tomorrow for lunch, so at least she wouldn’t have to worry about that. Better than taking a granola bar with her to Cerberus Books - much tastier.
The weather was pleasant on the way back to the fishing village - to most, Elsa assumed it might be a little bit chilly but for her she liked it. Liked the kiss of salt on her cheeks and in her nose, in the sea air, and liked the way the stars looked like spilled salt granules against the black velvet of a clear sky. Bruni lit the way nicely and Gale made sure they didn’t get too tired carrying the entire bag of leftovers - she thought she also caught a glimpse of the Nokk before heading inside too, and that made her feel safe and secure; it was great, knowing she was home.
In her cottage, she was all set to change into her pajamas and settle in. She didn’t protest when Kate stole her, however, and she laughed - wrapped her arms around Kate and kissed her soundly in return, Elsa’s face pink and warm. “Next two,” she agreed. “Wherever you want to go. And - you’ll stay over tonight?” she added hopefully, twirling a lock of Kate’s hair around her finger. They’d shared a bed but hadn’t shared a bed in the intimate sort of way yet - Elsa was very open to the idea, however. She just wanted to get some advice first, from people who weren’t terrible at the act like she was afraid she’d be.
“‘Course I’m staying,” Kate agreed easily, leaning in for another soft kiss. She had clothes and a toothbrush and plenty of her personal things scattered here - well, not scattered but put in their proper places. Licorice came in and out at his leisure, too, although she hadn’t noticed him when they came in tonight. She knew Elsa liked having her there, and honestly, she liked being here. It felt a little more adult, coming home after a long day to someone she cared about.
“You need some help…getting out of this?” she questioned. She tilted her head and a slow smile curled her lips as her hand crawled up Elsa’s back, playing with the metal zipper at the collar of her dress. “Not that I mind seeing you in it, obviously. You look so pretty, just…” She tugged the zipper down the tiniest bit - couldn’t be more than a couple of centimeters. “Maybe something a little cozier is in order?”
Or nothing at all. She stifled that thought by going in for another kiss, though. She was in no hurry to jump to that until Elsa was ready. She knew she hadn’t been that deeply intimate with anyone, and it had been a long while for Kate, too. Building up to it and taking their time was more than okay with her, but the temptation was still strong.
Was Kate trying to seduce her? Well, it was working - though, yes, Elsa was still a little bit apprehensive about the more intimate side of things. Her only experience had been with Kate thus far - she just wasn’t interested before, not in Arendelle, and she suspected it was due to the fact that she needed an emotional connection to be able to even feel physical attraction at all. Now she just wanted to be decent at everything - maybe she would really need to up the ante on her studies so she’d be more prepared.
But in the meantime, no reason why she couldn’t have some fun - especially since they were girlfriends now.
“Yes, please,” she laughed, gathering the mass of silky hair to pull it to the side over her shoulder; she turned to let Kate unzip her dress. “I’ll change into my pajamas and we can cuddle up, watch a movie? Feel free to...also not be wearing that.” Elsa liked the pants suit, she did - it was very sleek and sophisticated. But it didn’t need to be on for the rest of the date either.
Kate dutifully pulled the zipper the rest of the way down, dusting Elsa’s shoulder blade with a few playful kisses once skin was bared to her. She ached for more, fingers tingling with desire to draw them down that smooth expanse of soft, milky-white skin. She’d seen plenty before - they hadn’t been entirely chaste during sleepovers - but she still behaved herself, instead of slipping her hands where they wanted to go uninvited. She pressed another kiss against the nape of her neck and gave her a quick squeeze around the waist before pulling back to give her space.
“I’ll grab my pajamas and change in the bathroom,” she offered. “Movie sounds great, your pick. Popcorn, too, or are you too full?” She was teetering on the brink herself; she had a pretty healthy appetite, but even she hadn’t been able to consume enough at Sofia’s to leave them with no leftovers.
“You don’t need to change in the bathroom,” Elsa insisted, already moving to grab Kate’s pajamas from the drawer they were kept in - she knew where they were, they’d picked the drawer and it had enough of Kate’s things in it to make this cottage her second home. At least in Elsa’s view, anyway. “Here - ”
She grinned, tossing the pajamas at Kate with a coy little smile - she was trying, though honestly being flirtatious was quite new for her too. But inch by inch, she let herself be a bit more daring here and there (and it helped that she was performing in Moulin Rouge too - she’d stepped out of her comfort zone a lot when it came to sensuality). “I’m probably too full for popcorn but definitely not too full to cuddle up with you. We can watch in here.”
There was a handy flatscreen on her wall - the television sets were amazing inventions, really, and though ‘experts’ said you weren’t supposed to watch where you slept Elsa found it quite relaxing so she indulged on occasion. Being cozy in bed and shoving ice cream or popcorn into her face while a sad or romantic movie played was an indulgence. One she was looking to get into again, as she pulled the covers on her bed back and then shimmed free from her dress - her own pajamas were simple, a shorts and tank top set with little puffy clouds printed on them. She might have to find something sexier for their next sleepover.
Kate laughed but didn’t protest, grinning when Elsa flung her pajamas at her and flashed her that smile. She was so ridiculously cute and so damn hot at the same time. It was actually kind of unfair, but Kate just counted herself lucky. She had gotten to see just about every side of Elsa there was and she never stopped wanting more.
She changed right there like she was told. Her pajamas weren’t much different than Elsa’s - shorts and a tank top, but instead of Elsa’s clouds, hers were emblazoned with little Mickey Mouse heads. She’d bought a ridiculous amount of merch during the three-day period that mix-and-match version of every imaginable Disney resort had appeared on its own island here in Vallo. She could probably fill up an entire wardrobe with all the Disney-themed clothes she’d come home with that last night. But they were comfy and she looked cute, thanks.
After she’d hung up her suit and taken off her jewelry to place in a little bowl on top of the vanity, she bounded over to the bed and crawled in beside Elsa, nuzzling straight into her neck to kiss along the hollows of her throat. She could do this with or without a movie on; she loved the taste of her skin - a little salt, a little sweet - and made sure to nip right under her chin before leaning up to properly kiss her lips next.
But she was promised cuddles, and even if she was feeling a little worked up, she could never turn that down. Especially not tonight, when they’d taken such a big step. Being officially official girlfriends was a big deal, and it may have been a contributing factor for why she was all over her very beautiful girlfriend. She was a touchy-feely person with the people she loved already, but this was more so than usual.
Once she’d gotten herself together and comfy amongst the many pillows in bed, she settled, opening her arms to make room for Elsa to curl up. “So. What’re we watching? Or are we just searching for background noise, ‘cause I’m good with that, too.”
The open arm invitation was accepted. Elsa fit nicely here, she thought - her and Kate were about the same height, which made snuggling even easier (however, sometimes when Elsa wore more than kitten heels she bumped herself up a couple inches). Happily, she breathed a sigh, nuzzling at Kate’s throat with her nose and kissing at her pulse point - definitely sweet, like candy, and it was one of Elsa’s favorite spots.
“There’s that baking show I like - the British one?” she suggested, voice low and a bit sleepy, velvety undertones. “I haven’t seen the new episodes yet.” They could pull up Netflix (she was very skilled at that by now) and leave it on as background noise. No paying attention required.
Honestly, she’d probably fall asleep soon too but she knew that’d be fine - pajamas, and Kate, her warmth and closeness? Right, there was no way Elsa could resist (and more kissing, probably, that too).
“I’ll put it on,” Kate told her, kissing her temple and gently pulling the remote out of her hand. She could hear that current of sleepiness in Elsa’s voice and knew she wouldn’t be awake much longer. They had eaten more than their weight in Italian food, so fair. There wasn’t much more soothing to fall asleep to than The Great British Bake Off - she put it on, turning to drop the remote on the nightstand.
“Sleep, sweetie.” She turned back, nudged Elsa’s nose with her own, and kissed her lips. “I’ll be right here.”
