Noctis, My past, my present, my future. When I joined the Citadel, I didn’t know what to expect, but I know I didn’t expect you. I didn’t expect to fall so deeply for someone who was to be my companion, to lose myself in your soft blue eyes (though difficult as it can be at times with your unruly hair), and for something that was to be a job to become my everything.
Because that is what you are, my everything. Early on it was less of loyalty to the throne and more of a dedication to you, a person that I grew up beside, that I learned to have a little fun from, and that I came to love deeply and maddeningly.
I’d love to say there was never any sudden realization, no dawning moment where I went “ah-ha”, but I’d be lying. Do you remember when you were twelve, there was a solstice celebration at the Citadel and you were expected to attend, but your back had been acting up in the middle of some introductions? You still pushed through because your father had requested it. Later that evening, I got several warm bags of rice from the kitchens for you and ended up laying in bed next to you to keep them pressed in to help.
That night we talked about a lot of things. Our hopes and dreams for the future, easy little fantasies we had about the world. We were young and still sheltered from so many things, but you fell asleep on my shoulder and I looked down at you and that was it.
I knew from that point forward no matter if feelings were ever reciprocated, you were it for me, and I couldn’t picture myself anywhere else.
Gladio and Prompto folded into that so neatly, even my upscale dry cleaner would be impressed. To find one love in a lifetime is rare in itself, to have that connection on the same level with others is-- it must be near impossible, and you make me feel as if I have hit the lottery on more than one occasion.
