"That's probably the drugs," she gave wryly. This was oddly comfortable. Throw them anywhere, and old habits seemed to lurk. Seeing his familiar smile, the familiar quips did more to soothe her then she'd be willing to say.
"Figured I'd give you some slack," she added with half a smile before sitting back to listen. It was always a bit jarring, looking him in the eye, but now. Well now she didn't mind so much. And she always knew how serious he was with where he was looking. "Did. Finding it a little too convenient, a little too good. This," she motioned around and to the bed, "doesn't seem like it just falls in your lap." There was always another shoe, but right now she took comfort in that she could trust him.
"I just saw you," and he'd been here for weeks? "Nothing's on fire. Look at you." The smile in her voice lingered for a moment before she set her hand over her ribs before giving him a look. "Infuriating? It's 'magic'? Wow, I wouldn't know how that would feel. At all."
