Seeing Murphy laughing was more than he could have hoped for, though perhaps he shouldn't push it too far in case he hurt her more. Still, if she was going to bring up the kids' parties... "never could keep the rabbit hidden," Harry said with a good-natured grumble, "and you have no idea how unimpressed kids are with real magic..." sheesh. He wouldn't go back to doing those if he was paid ten times his usual hourly.
"You're going to make me wear a uniform, aren't you?" he said with a wry smile at Murphy's comment. He would give the skin off his back to make sure Karrin healed up properly, and fast! "Maybe I'll cook up some bell-magic, just for you," Harry said with a grin. "Shouldn't be too hard to adapt one of my wards for your own personal amusement," he told her, "if you're serious about the bell." Also wouldn't hurt to get a few other wards set up while he was at it, just so he knew she was safe. He would have lots of time to make plans while Murphy healed and maybe even toss up a few balloons for her home-coming. Whatever it took, he was there.
Harry saw the set of her jaw when she mentioned being a cop and nodded his understanding. "Not a cop," he agreed. But something useful. Something that mattered to Karrin. If it mattered to her, she could put her full energy into it and feel satisfied and that was what Harry wanted for her. "Everything's different here," he said with a soft smile, "and we'll do incredible things. One way or another."
