You'll want something with good gas mileage so you can spend more time behind the wheel. Also something compact, or at least smaller than most average sedans. It's easier to maneuver around, especially for parking. Most newer models of cars have automatic transmissions which will probably be best for you if you've never driven a car. I know this might not mean much to you right now, but knowing what you're looking to learn on can help weed out driving teachers.
