Scorpia’s internal clock ran on a pretty tight schedule, and so she rarely needed an alarm to wake up on time - not that there was any particular time she had to be up for here in Vallo. It wasn’t her internal clock that woke her this morning however, but a series of soft beeps and whistles that, for a moment, Scorpia was sure must have come from the edges of some sort of pleasant dream of home.
She rolled onto her side with a murmur, nestling into her blankets and hoping that she’d catch whatever dream that had been again - something with Entrapta and Emily, probably, maybe something with Perfuma, she hoped - and then the whistle sounded again and Scorpia cracked open an eye. Looking back at her was a gentle, purple light, surrounded by green. There was a pleased sounding chirp, and Scorpia’s other eye flew open and she sat up in her bed.
“Emily?” she asked, startled, glanced around the room to make sure she was still in Vallo, and then flung herself at the robot with an excited “Emily!” She couldn’t quite hug her - Scorpia’s arms only reached about halfway around the robot - but that didn’t stop her from making the attempt, and Emily nuzzled her back affectionately.
“What are you doing here?” Scorpia asked, pulling back and holding Emily at an arms length. Then, she glanced around the room. “Is Entrapta here with you?”
Emily shook her… well, her body, though she probably intended it more as a head shake, and gave a sad whistle, and Scorpia’s shoulders slumped for a moment. It didn’t take her long to rally though.
“I’m so glad you’re here!” she said, getting to her feet and making her bed. “I don’t have any food for you. I’m still not really sure if you eat or not, but we can stop by the hardware store this morning and pick you up something!”
She made her way to the bathroom to brush her teeth and hair, all the way chattering on, and Emily followed her. “I really think you’re going to like it here! The people are really friendly, and there’s a lot to do. I’ll give you a little tour of the neighbourhood! And there are these things called Waypoints, so you can just zip all over the island whenever you want! Just like Glimmer.” She frowned at Emily, spat out her toothpaste, and cocked her head to the side. “Though, I don’t know if you’ll be able to go through them. I’m sure we can test it out later today though, if you want! Oh! And Adora and Catra are here too!”
Emily gave an alarmed whistle and hunkered down as if she were trying to make herself smaller. “Oh, I don’t think you need to worry about her anymore. Catra’s much nicer now. I’m sure she wouldn’t try to hurt you.”
Emily gave a chirp of disbelief.
“I’m telling the truth! Really! She’s got lots of friends, and her and Adora are dating now - they even have a kid together in the future! They’re the cutest thing, I wish you could have met them - and she’s been, you know, surprisingly nice to me.” Emily chirped and Scorpia looked gave an uncomfortable laugh and looked away from her. “Well, no, me and Catra aren’t really friends, but I’ve met a bunch of hers so far, and they’re great. I think, maybe, that the problem might have been me.”
Emily gave an annoyed beep and rolled into Scorpia’s leg, and Scorpia laughed and patted her on the head. “Okay, okay, you’re right. Maybe it was just us. We didn’t mix. You know, like oil and water. I’ve been trying to give her space, and that seems to be going well. I think she feels like we need to be friends though? Because we’re both from Etheria? I should let her know that she doesn’t need to worry about me though, shouldn’t I? I don’t want her to force herself to be nice to me just because we’re from the same place.”
Emily gave a non-committal beep, and Scorpia sighed. “Well, that’s no help. But I guess you haven’t been here, so you can’t really give any advice, huh? I promise that she won’t try to turn you into scrap metal though. Really.” Emily’s next beep also sounded disbelieving, and Scorpia figured that she probably wouldn’t change her mind until she saw Catra for herself. It wasn’t like Scorpia could blame her, exactly. She’d said the same thing when Catra really did want to turn Emily into scrap metal.
She made her way to the kitchen, Emily following close behind, and grabbed an apple from her bowl of fruit, before she slipped on some outdoor wear. “Well, enough about all of that! Come on! Let’s get you some breakfast and show you around!”
