Log: Rey & Leia WHO: Rey & Leia Organa WHAT: Rey sets up a breakfast for her and Leia to share WHEN: Not so long after the recent Vallo departures WARNINGS: None STATUS: In-progress
Rey had left the house so early this morning, first to train, a very basic run of her usual route and then fetch breakfast, she wasn’t sure if Leia might’ve already left for the day when she had returned with somewhat of a vision in mind. She’d managed to avoid the bugs this particular day, and she’s supposed returning home stinking of cicada insides would not have been so fitting of a breakfast gathering. That could be saved for the afternoon, if need be.
Rey certainly wasn’t particularly skilled at cooking, she’d never really had to, living on ration portions for most of her life. She was slowly working through the basics these days, learning how not to burn things, how not to over or under cook meat. But this breakfast was a different situation, she had decided to buy it with her wages. A treat, something she could share with Leia, and perhaps it would serve the purpose of helping conversation to flow.
The young Jedi had not been unkind or cold, that was impossible when it came to being in Leia’s presence, which was warm and soothing purely by nature, but Rey had been somewhat closed off perhaps, quieter given the loss they’d both felt more recently. Things were quieter in their apartment for it too, Luke had gone and Rey wasn’t really certain how to talk about it or if she even wanted to at all. Avoiding saying much of anything and focusing instead on her work and otherwise her training, which Leia often supervised. The droids of course helped the place from feeling too empty.
Rey had enjoyed her work this morning with some meticulous attention to detail. She’d set out waffles, cut up a few different types of fruits, as well as various toppings, if they were wanted. Of course, if fruit was all Leia wished she wouldn’t be at all troubled, Rey was rather an accomplished eater herself. There was coffee brewing too - something Rey more often bought than made, but so far it smelled pleasant and like a decent coffee ought to.
