WHO: Bonnie Bennett, Sirius Black, & the Bennett-Black Twins
WHERE: Vallo: Grimmauld Place - Twins' Room
WHEN: May 23rd, 2021
WHAT: Guess who has magic?
WARNINGS: N/A
Sirius had just gotten back from a run with Kabir and Pluto and was in the kitchen now, for his cool down. He was slowly building his strength back up after having been out of commission for a few weeks, after the dragon attack in the past that had injured him. He had been drinking straight from the faucet in the kitchen sink, head fully dunked under it like the mutt he was part-time, when he heard Bonnie screaming. He didn’t even bother turning off the water, just shot straight out of the kitchen and took to the stairs at a run, hand finding its way to the wand he had tucked in the back pocket of his joggers. When he burst into the twins’ nursery, he had his wand out and was ready to defend Bonnie and their kids against whatever had Bonnie screaming. Except, he slowly realized, as he dropped out of his dueling pose and let his wand hang uselessly at his side, he didn’t need to defend anyone. Mouth dropping open in surprise, he took in the scene in front of him. The twins were floating. And not only that, so were their stuffies. “Well,” he said, finally finding his voice after a minute of just staring at the two giggling babies. “I shouldn’t really be surprised by this.” His heart rate was slowly returning to normal, but a giddiness was rising in him at the same time. “Bonnie, he said in a happy, hushed tone. Tucking his wand away again, he added unnecessarily. “They’re magic.” Now normally random acts of magic were not a big deal, especially in this place. But when your less than one year old twin babies decided it was a great idea to start floating, every which way, it was a different matter. Not just them either, but their stuffed toys too. This was the scene Bonnie walked into as she was entering the twins room to put away their freshly washed clothes. It had been the last thing she had expected to find, and she did not manage to stifle the yell of surprise. When Sirius found them, she was standing in the middle of the room, clean clothes scattered on the floor, both of the twins floating just out of reach. Based on the giggles coming out of them both, they thought it was hilarious. Bonnie’s arms were crossed over her chest, one hip cocked to the side as she watched them both, torn between annoyance and worry. When she heard Sirius voice, she glanced over her shoulder just momentarily. Hair wet, wand out, and looking all too pleased about this. “Of course they’re magic.” she said, as if that was the most obvious thing ever. “Why wouldn’t they be?” Between her bloodline, and his, she never had a doubt. Seren dipped just a little bit lower, and Bonnie quickly reached up to grab him, but he was just as fast, and pulled out of her reach with another giggle. “You two are monsters.” “You’re telling me that the confirmation isn’t amazing?” Sirius asked, still smiling as he walked over to where the twins were floating and playing keep away with Bonnie. He reached out to grab at Zayna’s little foot, but she kicked at his hand and floated away, shrieking in delight at the process. His smile grew even wider at that. “I would have loved them even if they had turned out to be Squibs, but this is just another thing to bond over them with.” He ducked as Seren came flying at his head a little too quickly for his liking, laughing along with the kids when he just barely brushed the top of his head. “We’re really in for some trouble now,” he mused, as he went to stand by Bonnie and threw an arm around her shoulders as they watched the twins float and play. She’d never really thought about the idea of confirmation. But it was different, her world and his. Squibs didn’t exist. She’d never heard of a Bennett being born without their magic. “I forgot some people can be born to a magic family and not have magic.” she admitted with an apologetic shrug. Bonnie had no idea if she showed any signs of using magic when she was younger. She’d never been told what to watch for if she had kids, but she had experience watching the Salvatore twins get older and access their magic. It was a little amusing to watch Sirius try to catch both of them. The immediate shock of the twins hanging upside down and spinning around from their own power was wearing off. They didn’t seem to be in danger, and that was the important part. “Those windows are secure, right?” she said, eyeing them skeptically and imagining the twins floating right out of them and down the street. Sighing, she leaned up against him momentarily when he threw his arm around her shoulder. “This is all you, you know that, right? I don’t think I gave my dad this kind of trouble.” “You’re right though,” Sirius pointed out, enjoying the feel of Bonnie at his side. It was all too easy to pretend that they were a normal magical family, sometimes. “The odds were stacked in our favor, with your Bennett blood. Really shouldn’t have expected any other outcome. But,” here he poked Bonnie in the side and tightened his arm around her so she couldn’t squirm away too far. “You can’t blame all the trouble on me. I know you got into plenty of trouble as a kid too. Might not be the magical kind, but I’m sure it translates well enough,” he teased, smiling down at her. She really was beautiful, wasn’t she? He was lucky to have her in his life like this. The poke to the side had her doing her best to dance out of his grip, trying to not let her ticklish side get the better of her. It was to no avail though, so she had to resolve to poking him back. Her previous annoyance at the twins outburst of magic faded away and a grin replaced the look of concern that had been on her face. “Excuse me. The only trouble I got into until vampires entered my life was occasionally getting busted for parties.” Her life had been rather tame until that point, and she was sure the trouble Sirius got into lapped her troubles many times over. She turned her head to look up at him with a grin, her arm wrapping around his waist to hug him from the side. “But yeah, we’re definitely in trouble now.” Yeah, if they were going to compare childhoods, Sirius definitely got into a lot more trouble, but a lot of that was him acting out because his family was awful. But it was fine, this family, theirs, would be different. Better. Dropping a kiss on the top of her head, Sirius pulled away. No doubt he was starting to smell like the sweaty mess he was. “I have to turn off the kitchen faucet, but I’ll be back to help with the clothes,” he gestured to the clean clothes that Bonnie had dropped in surprise earlier, “And to double check that all the windows are spelled shut.” It was easy to pretend they were some kind of normal magic family when he did things like that. “Okay. I doubt they’ll decide to come down by the time you get back.” she watched him leave, before shaking her head and focusing on the twins and the clothes. “I hope you two are pleased with yourselves.” If they could understand, they probably didn’t care. Bonnie started picking up the clothes she had dropped as the twins as both of the twins reached for the same stuffed Hippogriff that was floating in the air with them. If this was their new normal, she could only imagine what chaos the terror twins would come up with as they continued to get a better handle on their powers. |
