Everything was crashing in, and around her, she knew it. There was no way out. She watched as her brother was hit in the back from a killing curse. Marlene managed to get off a few good hits, but the house was crumbling down around them, and she was already injured. It was amazing she and her brother survived the house blowing up as it was. Another beam started to fall as she looked up, using everything in her to stop it. She turned, seeing the green light heading right at her as she took a step to the side and...
"Reducto," she yelled as she spun and hit something that disintegrated, but this wasn't right. The warmth in the air wasn't from fire. It was from the damp air around her. She saw a few startled looks. She kept her wand raised, her hair was filled with ash, and her face had a few scraps on it. Her left arm was clearly broken in the way that it hung awkwardly by her side. Her breathing was shallow from a broken rib and fear as she spun around. She hadn't apperated, she was about to die, her whole family was gone, and she was, where? What was this place? There were people and things, and she couldn't get her barrings.
The pain in her arm started to overwhelm her, but she stayed on guard, not moving from her spot. "Where the fucking hell am I?" She snapped.
