‘Be sure on the swing that your elbow remains locked. All momentum travels right to left, not front to back, otherwise you won't cover the centre of the shot.’
Jon demonstrated again, showing Bedlam - Zelda, he reminded himself for the umpteeth time that morning - the exact trajectory her breakaway bottle was required to follow in order for safe contact against his skull. Camera consciousness and safety always firmly set in the forefront of Jon's squirrely mind.
Though made of moulded Piccotex the prop bottle still contained elements of danger, capable of causing severe injury if the stunt was not performed with utmost care. Far safer than glass or ceramic, the vinyl-latex substitute for candy glass was state of the art. Easy to clean, relatively safe, able to hold liquids without deteriorating, all formed from a non-sticky substance (a note worthy of costuming praise). Still, no shard was good for the eyes, no semi-hard object meant to collide with cheekbones, nose, temple or chin. Precision was exceptionally important despite Jon feeling drawn to danger as a horse to sugar cubes.
‘Chuckles says we’ve enough time for a dry run before they start filming if you want to have a proper go?’
