Shaking his head, Robb blew across the top of his coffee before taking a small, tentative sip. Not a bad cuppa. A bit different from his usual, and it took his tongue a moment to readjust to the taste. Espresso had such a distinct flavor when milk and sugar was added to make it a latte, and one he'd grown used to over the last little while. Just a regular cuppa joe with no frills today, but in a proper heavy ceramic mug instead of the usual insulated paper carryout cup as he was more accustomed to getting.
"I've never been here before," he admitted, although he did rather like the place in spite of the crowd. The shop was cozy, homey, with lots of greenery and warm wood tones all around. It wasn't a part of his regular route our routine, but he could see himself nipping in on the days he might be instructing (or whatever they would end up calling it) at the zoo.
Peering over at that cauldron of a cup Abby held, Robb noted the distinct lack of any little artistic flourish on top. An unfortunate miss on his part. And had he noticed he definitely would've said something to the barista about it - first-day freakout or not.
"You should ask him to try to make an iguana." Robb smiled and reached for the plate holding a fruit turnover he'd gotten for himself. "Your very own signature in steamed soy."
Always one to be polite, Robb offered Abby first crack at his pastry even though she'd refused anything earlier. He'd taken so many meals with Jon that it felt odd not having his meal ransacked and raided like a young bird's knicker drawer at university.
