Camera, lenses, filters, extra memory card, a couple change of clothes and some money. Glimmer went over and over the list in her head making sure she had packed everything and hadn’t forgotten something though it was likely she had, she always forgot something. Hopefully it wasn’t anything major and could be replaced on the way. It was a short vacation but it didn’t mean she wasn’t looking forward to it. How many other sisters would let their teenage sister take a week long trip with their boyfriend? She was lucky.
“Right on time as usual,” she said with a shake of her head as she heard the front door open knowing it was John. “Don’t you know you’re supposed to give me a few extra minutes? Women are never ready on time.” She teased giving him a smirk.
John laughed as he entered the room, “I know better than to stereotype you” he told her, “I’d like the keep the use of my legs after all” he winked, teasing in return as he came closer, wrapping his arms around her waist and kissing her.
She gave him a smirk and relaxed into his embrace and returned the kiss. "So where are we heading? Do we have a plan or are we just going to see where we end up."
“I quite like the idea of a magical mystery tour with you” John admitted, “Follow the road, stopping where we want. If we go along the coast there should be some great sights for you to photograph”
"Sounds like a plan," she said glad she packed a map. The highways were quite scenic she was told. "Supposed to be some great sights up north. We should stop at at San Fran too."
John nodded, “Gotta do the golden gate bridge, right?” he smiled, “You’ll get some awesome shots there and it’ll be great to ride the bike across”
"Of course," she had to agree on that one. "Alcatraz too!" Because you couldn't go to the bay without adding that too. "I am sure we'll find enough to do all week."
“Definitely” John agreed easily, “Oh we’ll absolutely find enough to do” he added waggling his eyebrows at her.
She had to laugh. "Don't count your chickens before they are hatched or you'll get nothing John," she teased lightly.
“No chicken counting” he told her holding his hands up, “Chicken hoping maybe” he winked. “So are we good to go?”
She laughed as she reached for the single bag she had packed along with her camera bag. Since they were traveling on a bike it was even more important to travel light. “Yep, are you?” Her sister was expecting her to leave so there wasn’t a need to leave her a note.
“Absolutely” he nodded, taking the bags from her to carry them to the bike. “We should get Faye something, for letting her little sister run off for a week with no lectures or awkwards talks”
"We should get her a mansion or something," Glimmer pointed out truthfully. "Another reason I love her. No awkward talks like ever. If only everyone else figured we were old enough to know better or at least make good decisions."
John definitely agreed with that, I mean sure he’d had the ‘mess with her and I kill you slowly and painfully’ speech but that was accepted and since then she’d been really cool about everything - even when he stayed over she had no issue with him staying in Glimmer’s room.
“She is the best, you guys are lucky to have each other” John said as they made their way out of the apartment to his motorcycle, “Most other ‘adults’ just like the sound of their own voice, majority of them are hypocrites anyway”
Boy, he couldn’t know the truth of that statement but Glimmer figured she didn’t need to point that out as she reached for the familiar helmet that had been her own these past few months. “Adults are overrated. It is like they forget they were kids once. Not all of us our stupid and have to do stupid things.” She shook her head. “I got a new job too for the summer...”
John agreed, though he did miss his mom - he’d actually give anything to hear her lecture him again. Pulling his thoughts from that path he looked at her, “Oh yeah? So what is going to be dragging you away from me?” he asked teasing but wanting to know.
"Like anything could do that," she told him with a grin. "A newspaper aka paparazzi job." She made a face but it paid good money and would help pay for college. "You can be my getaway driver, how's that?"
He grinned back, “Ooo you gonna get chased away by celebrities with no make-up on” he teased, “Count me in, sounds like fun”
She had to laugh, “Great you can break out the skills too when they go all Britney and try to beat me with an umbrella or pull a Lindsay and try to beat me with their oversized purses.” She joked with a grin. It was really quite amusing to her the length people went to over a picture. Wasn’t all publicity in a way good publicity?
“I promise I shall protect you from umbrellas and purses” he grinned at her as he finished securing her things and hopped onto the bike waiting for her to climb on behind him.
“And I promise I will not get you arrested,” she said with a wink as she climbed onto the bike behind him. The last thing she needed to tell her sister was that she was stupid enough to get caught by the police. How much practice had they had from things like that?
“Sounds like we have a deal” he laughed before popping his helmet on and starting the engine waiting for Glimmer to put her arms around him as a signal she was ready before he pulled out into the road and headed for the highway.
She rested her chin on his shoulder as she wrapped her arms tightly around him. His body was warm and welcoming. The good thing about having no set place to go was they could go anywhere and they didn’t have to hassle with maps and the like. They were free to go wherever they wanted to go.
It was a pretty great feeling, having his girl with him as they rode off with no particular destination in mind. Taking in the views from the coastside road and just enjoying not having to worry about anything.
