Nikola poked his head in through the front door and looked around the shop. He wasn’t sure if he was supposed to be in here, knowing that she was working on her dress. Was he supposed to have a chance to see it before the wedding? Was that bad luck? Was she the kind of woman who cared about that sort of thing? He didn’t care one way or another.
“Lu?” He called out, stepping further in and glancing around at the things there. He didn’t know a whole lot about making clothes. He’d only been in here a couple of times to visit her in this shop, and hoped he wasn’t interrupting anything important.
She was in the back, in her office, working with her sewing machine. Her dress was almost done, and she was going to hand embroider the skirt later on. When she heard Nikola, she smiled brightly, standing up and walking out to see him. “Hello, my dear. What brings you here?” She wrapped her arms around his waist, laughing when Pepsi plunked down near him.
“Do I need a reason?” Nikola asked. His mood brightened simply by the sight of her. It was so very strange. He wrapped his own arms around her shoulders and drew her in to steal a quick kiss. “I wanted to see you. What are you working on?”
“Mm, no.” She tiptoed up to kiss him, not caring if there were any customers around. He smelled good, the faint scent of lightning in the air after a strike. “My dress. It’s fun, actually. I’m not terribly superstitious, if you’d like to come sit down with me.”
“Really?” Nikola raised an eyebrow. For some reason he thought she might be. But he was excited that she wasn’t. He nodded. “I’m looking forward to seeing it on you.” And tearing it off you. And staining it red. And tossing it on the floor. He released her enough so that she could turn and walk him toward the back room.
She walked to her office, taking the dress from its place on the sewing machine where she’d been hemming it. Once she put it on the dress form, she turned to him to see what he thought.
Nikola wandered over to get a good look at the dress. It was absolutely stunning. He could just imagine the way she would look in it, and--wait, was that emotion? Welling up within him? Happiness, love, excitement... a very strange mix, very unexpected. He cleared his throat. “Lu, it’s fantastic.”
Her smile was large and genuine. “You like it. Oh, good.” She wrapped her arms around him, letting her head rest against his chest. “I wanted something as beautiful as you make me feel.”
“Of course I do. How could I not? You made it.” Nikola said, wrapping his arms around her and holding her tightly against him. “This is as beautiful as I make you feel? Really?” He asked, sounding both proud and a little surprised at the same time. His hands moved up and down her back, still holding her close.
“Well. I doubt any dress could entirely communicate that, but this is as close as something I could construct.” She closed her eyes, nuzzling closer to him, sighing contentedly. “I don’t know if I could ever make anything quite as ... heady as you.”
Nikola gave a soft laugh. “I don’t think you could, either.” He said, his arms tightening around her. He nuzzled into her neck. She hadn’t had quite enough time for her neck wound to heal, so he could smell the blood on her. It was intoxicating. “...you are magnificent. And everything you create is superb.”
“Say that the day I have our first child,” she laughed. “I want it to think as well of itself as you do.”
“Oh, I will.” Nikola said, then kissed her. He kissed her with warmth, with love, with affection and lust. He pulled back just a little and nuzzled his nose against hers, grinning. “Our first child?” He asked. “How many are you planning on giving me?”
“A baker’s dozen, obviously.” She was teasing a bit, laughing at both the Eskimo kiss and his incredulous reply. “i thought perhaps two. Certainly no more than three. I’m only one woman.”
Nikola laughed. “When I said I wanted to continue my genetic line, I didn’t mean we should form a football team.” He said, squeezing her. He loved this feeling. It wasn’t his usual--he didn’t normally joke around and cuddle and laugh. Laugh. It wasn’t like him. But he loved it. “Two it is. I made an appointment with a fertility specialist. I’ll go in on Monday.”
“I did the same. Monday as well. Won’t it be funny if they’re the same specialist?” She laughed, taking his hand and sitting down next to him on the sofa in her office. “Should we wait to get pregnant until after we’re wed? You won’t want your parents coming to yell at you, no?”
“My parents are both gone.” Nikola replied as he sat and tugged her into his lap. His arms moved around her, holding her close. “There’s no one on my side to tell us we’re living in sin.” He added, smirking. “I don’t care in what order it happens. Perhaps we should just hurry up and get married so it won’t matter either way.”
“Or mine.” She hadn’t told him what had happened to her parents, and she wondered if she should soon. Likely so. “Mmm. When were you thinking? I need time to hand bead the hem.”
Nikola’s parents died in a boring way. There wasn’t much to tell. Sickness and old age. “How long do you need? A couple weeks?”
“Maybe one at the most.” She bit her lower lip. “Do you ... I feel like I should tell you that my parents were murdered. Just in the interest of full disclosure. I only found out last year when I had a detective investigate.” It hadn’t mattered much to her, and Nikola knew she’d been raised in foster homes.
“Do you think that’s relevant to us here and now?” He asked, trying to think how it could logically affect them, their child and their future.
“Not at all. I just wanted you to know.” She didn’t even have the same last name as her birth parents.
“Thank you for telling me.” Nikola said, then lifted his hand to take hold of her chin. He turned her so he could kiss her lips, gently and chastely.
He was frequently passionate with her, but sometimes the sweet and chaste kisses he gave her sent her shivering. This was one of those times. She pulled him closer, feeling tiny and protected in his arms. “I’ve already gotten the license.”
“You have?” Nikola asked. “Good. that’s one thing to check off the list. Are we having something huge and extravagant? Or simple and intimate?” He really didn’t care how many people were there, as long as it was flashy. He was sure the media would take notice. After all, he was Nikola Tesla. People cared what he did with his time.
“I wanted to let you decide that one, famous man.” Lulu grinned wryly, stretching out and smirking. “I’ll just make arrangements around that. I’m not one of these women who worry about their wedding days.”
“April twenty-seventh. It’s a Saturday. Make that day happen.” He said with a nod, letting his hand wander over her form. At first it stuck to safe places, but then it started to wander closer and closer into naughty areas. Finally his hand cupped her breast as he cuddled her close against him.
“All right.” She closed her eyes, sighing a little to herself. His touch always relaxed her, always made her feel more calm. “Simple and intimate but expansive. As posh as you.” She chuckled a little to herself, amused that he could be so comforting and kind and still turn her on at the same time.
Nikola chuckled softly. “Simple, intimate and expensive. My kind of party.” He leaned his head down and kissed her neck over the bandage hiding her bite mark. He nuzzled his nose there, enjoying the smell of her blood through the thin bandage. His hand squeezed, fingers gently teasing the nipple through her clothing. It was becoming obvious how much he wanted her. Did she have enough privacy back here for a quick one?
“We should shut the door first,” she murmured, casting a wind spell to get the damn thing to shut. Arching against him, she moved her neck a bit more. “Nikola, dear god,” she murmured, arching her hips against him. “Please?”
Another chuckle escaped him. He assumed that she had spare clothes in this place, and moved his hand to tear her shirt open. His lips moved up her neck to her jaw, sucking and kissing her with urgency. Once the shirt was mostly out of the way, his hand slipped down between her legs to pet her through her clothes. He wanted her almost frantically now.
She didn’t even bother removing her skirt, just helping him to hike it up her hips. “We’ll have to be quiet,” she murmured, knowing that there was another customer in the store when the bell sounded above the door. “Think you can manage, Doctor?” She unzipped him near frantically, kissing him hard, nipping his lower lip and smirking.
“I think I can handle that.” Nikola purred. He didn’t bother to take her panties down, just push them out of the way. One finger slipped inside her, followed quickly by a second and he pumped them in and out gently for a moment, getting her ready as he returned her kisses, hungrily. “Just don’t think this gets you off the hook for tonight.” He lifted her and brought her around, straight into his lap and onto his length. “I have something planned for when you get home.”
Biting her lower lip hard to keep quiet, Lulu smirked. “Oh? Like what?” She gasped when he pulled her down, clapping a hand over her mouth to keep herself from moaning. “I take it you haven’t prepared a special dinner.” She gripped his shoulders, rocking hard against him, loving their near silence. The quiet gasps were all the hotter.
Nikola’s hands came down to hold onto her hips, and he moved her against him. Harder and faster, his own body heating up. “...No.” He said, sounding breathless and distracted. His voice was low, his breathing labored. “...not a special dinner. I think you’ll be pleased with your... surprise...” He said, giving a little grunt.
“Shh,” she giggled, nipping his ear sharply. “Do I get any hints?” It was easier for her to talk as she was doing less work, but her pitch was no less breathy. They weren’t doing a terribly convincing job, but at least nobody in the main room would hear it.
“No.” Nikola said, shaking his head. His fingers dug into her hips, moving her faster and harder against him. He wasn’t moaning, but he was breathing hard. He didn’t want to get caught sexing her up in her office, but she was making it increasingly difficult to keep his voice in control. He brought one hand around between them to rub at her while she continued to grind above him.
She had to clap a hand over her mouth to muffle herself, so she continued to move that way. Biting down on her fingers a bit, she looked down at him for as long as she could before she closed her eyes. Lulu didn’t care if she got caught. It was her office.
Nikola grinned at the look on her face. He turned to bury his nose into her hair. “Come for me,” he whispered, his voice nothing but breath passing through his lips. “Come for me, Lu,” he added. “I love you.”
When he got demanding, especially when they were having sex, she couldn’t help but obey. Shuddering, she bit down on his shoulder and orgasmed as quietly as she ever had, still moving, gripping the sofa they were on as hard as she possibly could.
He could feel her finish. It was near silent, but so powerful. He gave the softest, quietest groan he’d ever given, then arched his back a little and exploded up into her. Hopefully no one in the store knew what they were up to in the back room.
She couldn’t help herself, grinning from ear to ear after they were done. “Are you trying to outdo yourself, Doctor? And what’s this surprise you have?” Lulu didn’t move off of him, wondering if maybe it would help their chances of conception.
“You’ll see when you’re finished with work and you come home.” Nikola said, giving her a grin and leaning in to suck gently on her neck. This had been a wonderful experience with her. As much as he wanted to stay and cuddle, though, he knew she had to work. Not this second, but soon. “...you’re the most amazing woman I’ve ever known.”
“Mmm, you make a woman want to leave early,” she purred. Leaning into his touch, she smiled to herself. “Are you hungry? You can feed if you need to.” Squeezing his hand, she smiled to herself. “You’re the most amazing man I’ve ever known. It’s why I’m marrying you, obviously.”
“No,” Nikola said, shaking his head. “You rest up. You need your blood more than I do.” He kissed her neck again. The scent was intoxicating, but he refrained. There would be time for that later. Perhaps later tonight. He was planning an evening of delight. He wasn’t going to stop until he had her screaming.
“Let me know,” she murmured. She hated thinking of him in pain, or upset. “I suppose I should get back to work,” she sighed. “Will you zip me?”
“Of course.” Nikola helped her to her feet and fixed her clothes, and then his own. He leaned in to steal another quick kiss from her lips. “Go get back to work. Make beautiful clothes. I’ll see you in a few hours at home.”
“Three hours,” Lulu sighed. “It seems like forever.” She kissed him lightly before patting him on the bottom. “Go be a genius, my love.”
“It’ll go quickly.” Nikola gave her a grin into the kiss, then chuckled at the pat. “I suppose. If I must.” He teased, then turned to head out of her shop. There was a spring in his step that wasn’t there when he came in.
