It’s not one of my best works, but I’m not sure jogging and hip hop go hand in hand.
Who: Yukale an Eli What: Early morning jogs and friendmaking When: Last week during the musical plot (I forgot to post, oops XD) Where: Someplace Status: complete Rating: PG
Yukale was up at a ridiculous hour, jogging around and exploring the city a little bit. She wore a blue sparkly pair of short shorts and a matching sports bra. Her physique was athletic, and she knew it, and apparently didn’t mind letting other people know it.
Eli was doing the same thing, wanting to jog before school. Sure, it was the weekend, but she needed to stay on schedule. She was more demure in sweats and a t-shirt, but her long hair and high cheekbones would’ve drawn glances if it wasn’t dark out.
The sky was lightening in the pre-dawn, but Yukale felt at home in the night. Perhaps it was the strange dreams she’d had, or perhaps it was just because the air was cool on her skin. Either way, she sang a song about jogging as she ran. ”Jogging, running, training running, Jog jog, jogging! Keeping myself in shape!”
Eli couldn’t help but giggle. “Jog jog jogging?” She moved closer to the other woman, meeting her pace.
“Heya!” Yukale grinned at the girl. “I don’t know, I felt inspired! It’s not one of my best works, but I’m not sure jogging and hip hop go hand in hand.” Japanese hip hop at that. Her music was pretty varied.
“It wasn’t bad at all. I can’t sing very well.” Eli found that jogging was nicer with someone to jog with.
"I sing for a living. Well, sing, dance...I'm in town to make music videos. And see the sights." She grinned, turning to jog backwards so she could talk to Eli.
“My mother moved us here after she divorced my father. It’s all right.” Eli’s dark hair whipped around her head when the breeze blew.
“Do you like it here? Do you miss your dad? My mom’s nuts.” She missed her dad, but didn’t want to go into sadville. “You’re really pretty. Do you want to be in a video? We always need extras!”
“A little bit, and yes. But I understand why my mother left him.” Eli blinked, blue eyes going wide when the woman complimented her. “Thank you. I ... don’t know if I want to or not. What would I be doing?”
“Dancing. Or if you can’t dance then be in the background, like a fan at a concert.” She pondered. “Actually we’re planning a stunt where there’ll be people watching me do something dangerous. Can you pull off a really really unimpressed face?”
Eli looked up, looking really really unimpressed. That was her default face.
“Perfect! It’s paying, too. Not much, but it is an hour or two out of your day, so it’s only fair.”
“You don’t have to pay me. It’s fine.” Eli didn’t know why people kept trying to give her money. She was only sixteen, she didn’t really have needs.
“You sure? Doesn’t seem fair to do any work and not get paid! I’ll give you some of my albums for free then! Like a trade.”
“That would be nice, I’d like that.” Eli gave the older woman a shy smile. “My name is Eli. I didn’t say.”
“Yukale,” she replied, holding out her hand cheerfully. She seemed undaunted by shyness. “I go by Ravenwing on my records, so you can use whichever you prefer.”
“Yukale it is,” Eli murmured. “How long have you lived here?”
“About..three weeks! I’m staying at the Hyrule hotel. I don't know how long I'll be here, but I really like this country."
“You could stay, if you wanted.” Eli shrugged. “Unless you have to go back.”
“I dunno. I might! As long as I’m making music and go back for appearances does it matter where I live?”
“Exactly.” She didn’t really know what that meant entirely, but Eli figured it meant enough.
“You’re a good kid, Eli.” She smiled. “Eeeeeli. You’re name is adorable. I love it. It’s so fun to say. EEEEEEEli.
Eli smiled. “It’s Swedish.” It meant God.
“Sweedish? You’re from Sweeden?” Yukale grinned, and came to a stop. She was getting farther away from where she’d started, and she didn’t want to get too far away. It was scary.
“Nope. I was born there, but my father moved us around a lot. I didn’t live there very long.” Eli laughed at Yukale’s teasing, though.
“Oh. Pfft. That’s no fun. But I understand it though. I have itchy feet.” She bounced on her heels. “I don’t like sitting still for very long. Even staying in the same house for too long sucks. I did a lot of sleepovers.”
“I’ve lived in ... eight countries now?” Eli winced. It sounded worse when she said it out loud.
“That’s awesome though! You’ve probably met some interesting people! Every country is different, every culture. Even between countries really close to each other. I’m Japanese, but head to mainland China and it’s different, even though it’s only a few hundred miles away! Canada and the US are different, too!” She flailed her arms.
Eli blinked. “You’re very ... energetic.”
“I have to be! It’s in the job description.” She grinned, bright and energetic. “Life is too short to go quietly.”
“I like quiet,” Eli laughed. “It’s peaceful.”
“That’s nice too. I’ll let you in on a secret. Can you keep it?”
“Of course.” Eli was fantastic at secret keeping.
“I don’t like being indoors often. I’ve been known to sleep up trees when I can get away with it!”
“Oh, I like sleeping inside. I like being in tiny enclosed spaces, actually.” Eli smiled to herself.
“Yeah? What about a tree house. Would you like to sleep in a treehouse?” Yukale tilted her head, smiling as she spoke.
“Is it small?” Eli grinned.
“It’s just big enough for two people to have smores and tell ghost stories,” Yukale assured her.
