Who: Lúthien and Ty Lee What: looking for Lúthien's phone When: Tuesday afternoon Where: a park Rating: G Status: complete
Ty Lee was glad to get away from work for a little bit. She liked Azula, and didn’t mind working for or with her (in fact she quite enjoyed it), but even enjoyable things get old after a while. Plus, finding the phone was important! She bounced up to Lúthien’s door and knocked, humming happily. The singing and dancing was probably the most awesome thing ever, and she’d found herself singing even when she wasn’t being affected by the spell or whatever.
Lúthien answered the door to the sound of music.
”My heart wants to sing every song it hears
My heart wants to beat like the wings of the birds
That rise from the lake to the trees
My heart wants to sigh like a chime
That flies from a church on a breeze
“
She smiled at Ty Lee. She thought the girl was very cute. “Hello! You must be Ty Lee. I’m Lúthien.”
“It’s nice to meet you!” Ty Lee chirped, then bowed. “You have a very pretty singing voice.” Her name sounded much nicer spoken, too. “Are you all set to go?”
“Yes, I am. And thank you. I must warn you, I love to sing, even without a compulsion to.” Lúthien winked at her as she stepped outside. “Or perhaps I should say the compulsion is normal.”
“That’s okay!” Ty Lee said with a laugh. “I show off all the time, I completely understand. So, which way are we going to look first?”
“Let us go west, I was at a park the other day, I may have lost it there!” The singer offered her arm playfully to Ty Lee, resisting an urge to sing ‘off to see the wizard’ as it wasn’t appropriate enough.
Ty Lee took her arm, and grinned. “We’ll find it if you did!” She wanted to help Lúthien find her phone, and she was sure having normal friends would only help her deal with the insanity of her job.
Smiling, she led her new friend down the street, and to the park. A parade of dogs and their owners was doing a musical number from Disney’s Oliver and Company when they arrived. Lúthien started giggling uncontrollably.
Ty Lee joined in, because the dogs just looked so happy! It was super cute. “I wonder when this will stop. It’s fun, but it’s hard to get work done.”
The dark-haired woman laughed. “My work is singing, so it could go on forever for me, but I can see how it might be a problem for most people.” She knelt to pet a poodle.
Ty Lee patted the poodle as well, and all the other dogs. “Oh, that would be awesome. I help out at my girlfriend’s father’s business after school, and it’s been impossible to do anything but giggle at the pencil pushers singing about their lives.”
“That sounds really amusing. I would not mind seeing that, you should record it!” She had no idea just what sort of business Ty Lee was involved in, and would frankly be horrified. She’d consider Ty Lee no better than a slave.
“I don’t think they’d like that.” Ty Lee said with a laugh. “Some of the stuff is very personal. Okay, so park, right?”
“Park. I was on the swingset there.” she pointed, “and then I took a walk around, there and there. And I took a nap under that tree.”
“Ok. We’ll split up and cover more ground that way.” Ty Lee smiled and pulled out her phone “What’s your number?” Maybe it would still have battery power.
She gave Ty Lee her number, excitedly. Maybe they could find her phone that way, or maybe she would have a friend with a number, either way worked for her!\
Ty Lee dialed quickly, hoping she could be helpful. This was a simple and easy mission. She looked around for the ringing phone, and listened to her own phone, in case someone found it and answered her call. She sighed when they didn’t hear it, and nobody picked up.
“Nothing?” She looked disappointed. She supposed if someone had stolen it they wouldn’t answer. Still, it was depressing. “I should call to have it shut down.”
“Yeah.” Ty Lee looked sad. “Sometimes the company can pull your contacts off your phone, or they’re stored somewhere else as a backup. You might not have to rebuild all your contacts.”
“I hope!” Lúthien gave her friend a hug and a tight squeeze. “You’re a good person, do you know that? I can tell these things.”
Ty Lee hugged her back. “Oh, thank you. You’re a good person too! Would ice cream cheer you up? Oh, or we could go together to look at new phones! I really like shopping, and a phone is a big decision. You need backup.” She giggled, eager to do whatever. She liked Azula, but some time to bounce around with someone less moody was appreciated.
"Let's get ice cream, and phone shop." She kissed Ty lee's cheek. This could be fun!
