Am I going to be an Uncle or not quite yet? Who: Pansy Malfoy and Draco Malfoy When: March 8 Where: Their Apartment What: Siblings hanging out Rating: Low? Talk of pregnancy scare Status: Complete when posted!
Pansy was curled up on the sofa, watching some special on dinosaurs on the history channel. She’d already changed into her pajamas, and was drinking a beer. It was a typical Friday night... well, except that she wasn’t out with Peter or partying with friends. She was laying low and taking it easy, and looking forward to hanging out with Draco whenever he came around.
Draco had, reluctantly, dropped Zuko home that afternoon and even though he planned to join him later he still didn’t like the idea of being apart. But he needed to catch up with his sister, it seemed like far too long since they’d had a good chat and they had a lot to talk about.
Letting himself into the apartment he smirked as he saw her sprawled on the sofa, plonking himself next to her, he turned his head to look at her, “Really Pans? Dinosaurs?” he teased.
“Hey, Dinosaurs are fucking awesome.” Pansy said, giving her brother a grin. She lifted her hand and grabbed the beer from the sidetable (the one that was sitting in a cooler with ice next to a few others) and held it out to him.
“Well I do like Jurassic Park” he grinned taking the beer with a nod, he was exhausted and really could do with a relaxing drink, “So how you been? Considering we live together it seems ages since we’ve managed to talk”
"You're always so busy with your boyfriend," Pansy teased. Though, she was one to talk. She spent every waking hour it seemed with her boyfriend, at school or studying. Oh, or working. She was doing that now.
Draco groaned and dropped his head to her shoulder, “Way to guilt trip me” he said against her pyjama clad arm before sighing and rubbing a hand over his face, “Almost ex-boyfriend if he’d have gotten his way the other night” he told her quietly.
“What? Why? What happened?” Pansy asked, turning to try and get a look at him. It was hard with his head on her shoulder like that.
He sat up so they could face each other better, “It’s Zuko’s family, they’re some kind of mafia family. His dad shot Azula, his sister which caused Zuko to freak out and try to break up with me” Even understanding that Zuko was doing it to protect him it still hurt, but he took solace in the fact that in the end he hadn’t been able to do it.
“Wow. Mafia? That’s intense.” Pansy said, reaching over to take hold of Draco’s hand in a sign of support. “...is he all right? I mean... are you all right? What happened to Zuko’s sister?” She sincerely hoped that the girl hadn’t been killed. Poor Zuko. She’d have to send him... flowers. Or wine. Or something.
"Yeah it is" Draco replied gripping her hand gratefully, "He's okay I guess, shocked, scared and worried. Same as me. As far as I know she's okay" he told her, "Zuko came round to break up in order to protect me, its not gonna be fun if his father finds out about us" he admitted.
“His father doesn’t know he’s gay?” Pansy asked, being nosey. She was starting to worry a little about Draco. Then again, they were a witch and wizard. Draco knew all kinds of magic that Zuko’s father couldn’t even imagine. He could protect himself.
"God no" Draco replied, "And lets hope he doesn' find outt, not if I don't want to run the risk of torture or worse" he tried to make that statement light but failed miserably.
“Draco.” Pansy said, suddenly very serious. She sat up a little and pointed her index finger at her brother. “I don’t want you to leave the house without your wand.” She said, sounding a little angry, a little scared. “You’re a powerful wizard, and there are no laws here about using magic to protect yourself.” Beat. “You know the spells. Use them if you have to.”
“Yes Ma’am” Draco saluted before turning serious, “I promise Pans, nothing will happen. I can protect myself and Zuko” He hugged her then, somewhat awkwardly thanks to their position on the couch but it needed to be done, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to make you worry. I’ll be careful”
"Good. Because I'd hate to have to kill on your behalf." Pansy said. And she wasn't kidding. She would, if she had to.
"Me too. So lets make sure that it doesn't come to that" he nodded, "Now I need to ask because its been bugging me since I saw them but I haven't caught you. Am I going to be an Uncle or not quite yet?" he asked raising an eyebrow.
Pansy had lifted her bottle of beer, but when he mentioned the word ‘uncle’ she snorted into it, and started coughing.
Patting her on the back Draco couldn’t help the bark of laughter that escaped him, “Sorry Pans but you did leave the tests in the bin, not particularly well hidden” he told her, “I just need to know if a shotgun and me need to have words with Pete” he winked.
Pansy gave a laugh once she was finished choking on her beer. She shook her head. “No. No babies, no shotguns.” She waved her hand as she shook her head. “No no no. I’m far too young for that sort of thing. It was a false alarm.”
Draco nodded, “I figured as much but had to be sure” he thought Pansy would have told him by now if she was pregnant so he hadn’t been too worried. “You okay?” he asked, knowing it must have been a pretty big thing, false alarm or not.
“Yeah, I’m okay. Just... I have to be more careful.” Pansy said, then gave a little sigh. “I’m nineteen years old, y’know? I don’t need to start making babies. Though, I’m sure that Peter would do the right thing.” ...whatever that was. “...he’s a good man.” Sometimes she felt like she didn’t deserve someone as amazing as Peter.
Draco nodded, while it wouldn't have been the end of the world it wouldn't have been ideal either, for either of them.
"I'm sure he would, even without the shotgun" he teased, "and you know I'd support you too right?"
“Yeah?” Pansy looked over at Draco. It was a relief to hear, even though she’d assumed as much. “You wouldn’t mind becoming an uncle?” She asked, breaking into a grin.
“I think I’d be quite good at being an uncle, eventually” he told her with a return grin, “I can just imagine a little Pansy running around terrorising everybody” he teased her.
“Oh, God. That’s a terrifying thought.” Pansy said, laughing. “A little boy or girl who’s half me and half Peter? She’d be smart enough to know better, but me enough to not care. She’d get into so much trouble.” It almost sounded as if Pansy was warming up to the idea. Almost.
Draco had to laugh at that description, it was so perfect. “Oh I hope so” he said, “He or she is going to be so spoilt you know? When the time comes and you do have kids” He hadn’t spoken to Zuko about kids, it was way too soon to talk about that, but Draco wasn’t particularly bothered about having any.
“Oh, I know.” Pansy said. She would likely have kids eventually, and Draco would get to dote on them. She had no idea if it was going to be with Peter, or with someone else. She had years and years before that happened. Still, it was good to know that if there was a mistake, she’d have support and her life wouldn’t end. “Mostly thanks to you. I can’t wait until you have a niece or nephew to spoil.”
“Of course” he grinned, “Gotta make sure I’m the favorite uncle” he told her.
“So how are classes going?” he asked her, “Have I missed you doing amazingly well in any more subjects?” he grinned.
“Ugh, I’m a little behind in science and math. Kinda thinking it’s gonna take a couple of all nighters to get caught up. I’ll probably have to bite the bullet and ask Peter for help.” Pansy said, breaking into a little grin. She reached for her beer bottle and drank from it again. “How about you? How’s the music coming? I missed your last performance.”
”You know he’d love to help you” Draco smiled, “It’s okay, lessons are what they are but I’ve done some good movement development. Written a couple of new songs too. They’ve been received well” he added with a smile, he really wasn’t one to brag but he was pleased with the comments he’d gotten, particularly from Hermione and Zuko.
“Yeah, I’m sure he would. I’m just a bit embarrassed that I got so far behind that I need help.” Pansy said, a little sheepishly. She nodded, though, she was so very proud of her brother pretty much all the time. “Really? I’ll have to hear them. I mean, other than just through the walls when you’re practicing here at home, of course.”
"There's been a lot going on Pans" Draco replied, "You're still the smartest person I know" he smiled. "Sure" he nodded, "I never really think to get you or Zuko along much since you do have to listen to me practice so much at home"
“Yeah, that pregnancy scare really took a chunk out of my week,” she said, seriously. “You’re so sweet.” She added, blushing a bit. It was true--she was pretty smart. But lately it felt like she wanted to do things other than homework. Rebel, maybe. “We’d love to show our support in public, though.” She said, giving a nod. “You gotta stack the audience.”
He chuckled, "I imagine it did" he shrugged as he added, "Its true" Nodding in return he said, "Okay next couple of gigs I get I'll make sure you both know about them"
“Good.” Pansy said, grinning. “Now... I’ve been playing this new Tomb Raider game nonstop... care to join me?” She asked, reaching for a remote and tossing it over to him.
