Cadence had been to the Farmer’s Market to buy vegetables to stock Kurt’s fridge. She figured maybe she could make a couple of big meals, and freeze it all in individual meal sizes so that he could have good food all week long. It was mostly thanks to the advice from the nice girl at the Farmer’s Market, that had been her idea.
She’d left things awkwardly the last time she was here, and she wanted to make up for it. She still didn’t know what was going on with Kurt (or the rest of the Orange County, in fact) but she wasn’t about to give up on him so easily.
So she stood on his doorstep, arms full of bags, and rang the bell. She sure hoped he’d answer quickly, as there were a lot of bags and they were quite heavy.
Kurt opened the door, giving Cadence a smile as he stepped aside to let her inside. He’d missed her, even if he was unsure if they were that much of a thing right now. She seemed to think he was crazy!
“Hi,” Cadence said, stepping through the doorway and lugging the bags inside. “I’m making you dinner and I don’t want to hear any arguments about it.”
“Only if I get to make you dessert. I’ve been learning a recipe for brownies,” Kurt countered, his grin toothy.
“All right.’ Cadence said, returning the grin with one of her own. “I can’t say no to that.” She made it to the kitchen and lugged the bags up onto the counter. “Beef stew. And my famous Chicken-and-vegetable soup.” She said, having brought enough for both meals. Enough for several servings of both meals.
Kurt smiled, watching her as she unloaded the bags. He was reluctant to move fully into the kitchen light, though. His hair had gotten a lot bluer.
She folded up the bags once they were empty, and stashed them aside, then she started to sort the ingredients. It wasn’t until she had two distinct piles and was going for spices in the cupboard that she realized he wasn’t with her in the light of the kitchen. She turned to look at him. “...Kurt?”
“Ja?” He asked, leaning against the doorframe.
“I...” She stood up to her full height, pulling a frying pan out of the cupboard and putting it on the stove. “...I’m sorry for how I left things the last time I was here.”
"I'm sorry, too." Kurt came into the light. "I know this whole thing is very .... crazy. I vish I could change it."
Cadence stepped forward to wrap her arms around him before she noticed the blue in his hair. She buried her face in his chest, closing her eyes and giving a sigh. “I wish I could, too.”
“I love you,” Kurt said, though he knew that couldn’t fix everything. Or even anything. He just wanted to say it....because it was how he felt.
Her arms tightened around him, her face burying deeper against his chest. “I love you, too,” she said, though her words were probably muffled into the fabric of his shirt. She finally pulled back and looked up at him, then gasped softly at the state of his hair.
He winced. “I voke up this morning like this. It is very blue, ja?”
“Yeah. Yes.” Cadence said, lifting her hand to touch his hair. It was so blue. She was surprised. “...wow. It’s really blue.”
“This is not dye, liebchen, I promise. Not unless I sleep-walked to a salon.”
“No, I believe you,” Cadence said, though now her heart was pounding. All those things she’d read on the valarnet... they were true? She shook her head a bit. “...I don’t want it to be true. I’m sorry, Kurt.”
“I’ve always felt like something vas missing. Maybe it vas my tail?” His tone was light and joking, but he was genuinely worried about that, now. He wrapped his arms tighter around Cadence. “I’m afraid of losing you.”
Cadence didn't want to say what she was afraid of. She didn't want to hurt his feelings, didn't want to make things worse. "You haven't lost me," she said, cuddling close against him.
“Are you sure? Vhat if I become more monstrous? A freak?” Kurt shook his head, and held her harder. He didn’t want that, but he couldn’t lie to her about what he might be.
Cadence held her tongue, but held him tighter. Truth was, she didn't know what was going to happen. She wanted to tell him that wouldn't make her leave him, that it wouldn't matter. But so much of who she was was tied in with how she looked. How could he look like a monster and not be one?
Kurt rubbed at her back. He would just have to hope that was the extent of the changes. It was all he had, right now.
"I dreamed I vas in England for a few years. It vas interesting. There vas so much... Magic over there, but the people vere a lot more accepting than Americans."
"I've never been to England," Cadence said softly. She was still cuddled close against him. There were a lot of places he'd been that she'd only imagined. "What kind of magic?"
“Old magic. England in my dreams is a place practically built on the stuff. King Arthur, Merlin, all of that was real. The land itself is alive. Myth becomes reality.” He laughed, thinking about it. “It vas not all fun and games, but ve vere a happy family. It vas just me and a few others at first. Kitty, this adorable brown haired liebchen. There vas Brian and Meggan, who vas a fairy of sorts. There vas Rachel, who vas a refugee from an apocalyptic future.”
"Wow," Cadence said, pulling back a little too look up into his eyes as he spoke, trying to tell how crazy he really was. "... an apocalyptic future?" She was thinking of The Hunger Games .
"Some big robots took over the vorld and killed most mutants like me," he explained. "She came back in time to stop it. Sort of like Terminator?"
His dreams sounded more like nightmares. Cadence nodded. "Sounds scary."
"Ja. But it vas averted, so that vas okay.” There was plenty of good too. Adventures, and friendships, good times with people. He made a node to send a text to Pete Wisdom about teleporting his head into the Atlantic. Or rather, the threat to, when Wisdom was dating Kitty.
"That's good." She pulled away from him and turned to prepare the vegetables for the dinners she was going to make.
“I really did get to svashbuckle, in some of those dreams. It vas quite nice.” He made swashbuckling motions, grinning. “One in each hand, and sometimes one vith my tail.”
"Like in the movies?" Cadence asked. One thing she'd learned over the course of their relationship was how to appreciate swashbucklers.
“Like in the movies!” He looked enthusiastic. “Only they vere usually really bad guys, and once I buckled a svash with a fireplace poker.”
His enthusiasm was infectious. She couldn't help but smile. "Do you think you could do it if you had a sword?"
“Oh, certainly!” He let go of her, and bounced back a few steps. He seemed nimble and flexible, and then he did a black flip through the air and landed on the couch, like he’d just boarded a ship!
Cadence gasped. "Holy. .. How?" She asked, starting after him. He was so nimble. So acrobatic. She was surprised and impressed. Also concerned.
"I don't know! I'm very flexible in the dreams. Acrobatic. Probably triple jointed." He bowed and smiled rakishly.
"I'm impressed," Cadence said, smiling and trying to keep the mood light. Though, she was scared and confused that his dreams were coming true. "You've got all kinds of new tricks."
He looked down at his fingers, making sure he had, you know, five of them, then bounced off the couch. “Ja! Those tricks I don’t mind. I just..feel like there are parts of me that are avakening. Like I could be more than a fisherman, or a dock vorker.”
Cadence stopped washing the vegetables, turned off sink and stepped over to him, wiping her hands on a dish towel. "Kurt, there is so much value in you. So much to love, so much goodness, intelligence, kindness, creativity. Even without your dreams, I've seen it in you."
“I vonder if I needed them to see it in myself.” He rubbed the back of his neck. “Though meeting you helped me decide to go back to school.”
“Maybe you did.” Cadence said with a nod. She went up on her toes and stole a kiss from his lips. It was soft, tender, and lingered. Something inside her stirred and she pulled back again. “I’m glad that meeting me helped you, though.” Meeting him had helped her more than she could say.
Something inside Kurt stirred as well, and he swept her into his arms, and off her feet, kissing her passionately.
Cadence gave a soft, muffled grunt when he swept her up and kissed her hungrily. She lifted her arms to wrap them around him, and returned his kiss. It was like the movies. The only thing that would have made the moment more perfect would have been an orchestra playing.
Kurt seemed to be in a much better mood than previously. Some aspects of his dreams seemed to make him come across more natural. He was always a slightly flamboyant person, and this wasn’t helping.
Cadence broke her lips away from his for a moment to breathe, and blinked her eyes open to look into his. “What was that for?” She asked, gently. “Not that I minded...”
“Some things need to be shown, and not told,” Kurt said, stroking his fingers through her hair. He leaned in, and teased, “Besides, I like to remind you vhat you’re missing.” Then the man stepped away and walked out of the kitchen.
Cadence was a little wobbly on her feet when he stepped away. Her eyes had fallen closed at the hand to her hair, and she had goosebumps along her arms at the sound of his teasing. One hand reached out to take hold of the counter once he stepped through the doorway, and now she felt as if she had to put her head in the freezer. For... y’know... reasons. She cleared her throat, her heart still thundering.
“I suppose I could put off cooking for a little while.” She said to no one in particular, looking around at the vegetables in preparations.
Kurt had plopped into his couch, and was trying to decide if he should put on a movie, or not.
Cadence came wandering in a moment later. She was still bothered by the kiss, still flushed. She sat down beside him, so close her arm was resting against his. Even if he was turning into something else, whatever that may be, he still had her by a string.
He put his hand on her leg, and rubbed. His smile was charming, and he seemed to look extra dashing with the hair and the ears.
He did look extra dashing. Cadence still felt her heart thundering, and goosebumps rose on her leg under his hand. "Kurt, " she breathed, "you are the definition of temptation."
“Is it temptation if it’s something you vant?” He smiled at her. The only action he made was to rub at her knee before leaning back to get comfortable. Kurt was aware that he seemed to captivate her. It was only fair, the feeling was mutual.
"It's not temptation if it isn't." Cadence said, letting out a gush of air as he sat back. She turned to look at him, a little confused as to why he wasn't pressing. "Don't I tempt you? "
"Every second of every minute of every hour," he promised, his voice sounding breathless, as though he was talking through a tight throat. There was passion i his eyes when he looked at her. "I vant you to know vhat it's like vith out ... Being scared."
"I'm so scared of so many things," Cadence confessed, not at all concerned with looking weak in his eyes.
"I vish I could do more to reassure you." He frowned. He didn’t feel qualified to speak on issues of faith, not any more. Cadence and his dreams were leaving him very confused on that matter. Sometimes he wondered how Kitty could still believe, after everything.
Her fears had to do with sex, sure. And God. And there was a lingering fear of losing him, of him turning into a monster. His hair, his teeth, his ears had all already changed. She was terrified that everything was going to change. Probably mostly because she’d never had one of those strange dreams herself.
“I wish you could, too.” She took hold of his hand and held it with both of hers.
“I love you,” he said it, knowing that the words wouldn’t be enough. Maybe he needed to talk to someone. A girl. Maybe Kitty would have some advice!
“I love you, too.” She whispered. Then she stood, feeling a little less... bothered. She cleared her throat again. “I’m gonna go finish cooking.”
"Ja...that sounds like a good idea." Kurt nodded his head, watching her stand. He didn’t deserve her. Was it selfish to stay with her?
Maybe. Maybe not. Cadence turned to wander into the kitchen, lost in thought as she continued cooking. She washed and prepared the vegetables, then started to stir fry, soup and stew. She whistled after a moment, a low, slow, romantic melody she had stuck in her head.
Kurt had found a movie with a lady lead as the pirate, and put it on netflix. It wasn’t the best movie other, but he remembered it being fun. He got up to go to the bathroom, and take a look at his fangs and his hair. He muttered curses under his breath.
Cadence had the soup on low, and the stew on low, and was tidying things up in the kitchen. She washed some things and shoved others in the dishwasher. When she was finished, she wandered back out into the living room, wiping her hands on a dish towel.
Stepping out of the bathroom, Kurt walked back into the living area and gave Cadence a smile. “It smells fantastic...You really don’t ever need to do this, liebchen...”
“I don’t feel a need to. I want to.” Cadence said, giving him a smile in return. “There’s plenty for dinner for the next couple of weeks.”
“Imagine if ve lived together?” Kurt laughed, and placed his hands onto Cadence’s waist. “I’d get fat!”
Cadence flushed deeply. “Well, it’s a good thing we don’t have to worry about that.” She said, lifting one arm to wrap up and around his arm to rest on his shoulder. “I live at the Sorority house. You live here. You only get my amazing food when you invite me over to cook it.”
“Perhaps I should invite you every other night. I don’t get to see you anyvhere near enough.” Kurt kissed the top of her head.
“I think my Sisters might start to wonder about us.” Cadence said. But it definitely wasn’t a no. She wanted to be there with him as often as he wanted her to, though she was too scared to stay too often. “But I think I can handle that.”
“Vell ve aren’t...you know,” Kurt said. As much as he wanted to you know what with her, he also respected her, and her wishes.
“Oh, I know.” Cadence was blushing deeply when she realized what you know meant that they weren’t doing. “But they don’t know that.”
“Tell them the truth,” he replied, folding his arms. “Or do you vant me to? I don’t vant people to assume, my love.”
“I don’t really care what they think,” Cadence said, giving a gentle shrug of her shoulders. “It’s none of their business, anyway, what we do or don’t do.”
Kurt smiled at her, and then let his arms drop to the side. “Do you vant to go on a date, tomorrow?”
"A date?" Cadence asked, grinning excitedly.
“A date. Ve can dress up, ve can have some fun. I’ll even pick you up!”
Cadence was beaming now. "Okay. I'd like that a lot. "
“I feel like I need to...do right by you. Charm you, woo you, courtship you.” He took her hand and kissed her knuckles. “Perhaps seduce you again.”
"You won't hear me complaining about that," she teased gently. Her cheeks were very pink now.
His lips moved up her arm, to her elbow, then her shoulder and he pulled her close. “Nein?”
His kisses made her breath catch in her throat. "Nein," she breathed, giving him a smile.
Leaning in, Kurt whispered something in her ear. "I vould like to know vhat you taste like, Cadence."
"I thought I tasted like mocha." Cadence purred.
“Mmm...” Two fingers slid down Cadence’s stomach. “Not vhat I mean. Something ve can do that vill not...meet vith accidents.”
Her breath hitched at the movement of his hand. "Oh?"
“Ja. I’m quite talented in several languages,” he continued, his voice like honey in Cadence’s ear. “I vant to speak to you.” His hand rubbed past her pelvis. “Here.”
Her breath hitched at the feel of his hand. She nodded, breathlessly. "O-okay." Here was sort thing she knew about from pop culture, but could only imagine. She shivered, hoping she was clean enough for that kind of thing.
He smiled, and nipped at her neck, and he hugged her against him. “I vill do only vhat you vant me to do, liebchen. no more.”
She turned her head toward him, and lowered her hand to pull his face up to hers. "I want you to," she said, blushing deeply. Then she kissed him. It was a kiss with meaning, with passion. She was trying to communicate all her love, all her fear, and give him permission. She trusted him completely.
Kurt groaned into the kiss, and returned it with fire. Dinner was completely forgotten as he fell into her lips, and the feel of her body pressed against his own. Anticipation flooded him.
Cadence whimpered as she kissed him. After a moment she pulled back, took hold of both of his hands, and tugged him with her toward the bedroom.
He grinned, letting her lead him. Her eagerness was a turn on. He doubted he'd get any relief himself, but making her quiver would be worth the discomfort. If he'd had a tail it would be lashing excitedly.
Together they made their way to the bedroom. By the time they got there, her heart was thundering. She dropped his hands, standing by the bed, and lifted her arms to pull her shirt up and over her head. She tossed it aside, her eyes locked on his.
Kissing her, Kurt ran his hands over her breasts, gentle but firm, and a little needily. He pulled back, tugging his own shirt off, quickly, as any time spent not seeing her mocha skin was time wasted. His eyes moved back to hers and he gazed deeply into them.
Cadence’s eyes fell closed at his hands on her breasts, her own hands coming to rest on his sides. They had to move momentarily as his shirt was tugged away, then came back to wrap down and around his waist. She opened her eyes to look into his.
“Tell me what to do.” She whispered, then released him to hook her thumbs into her skirt and tug it downward. “...I don’t know... how...” She said, slipping out of her shoes and her skirt and standing before him in her matching bra and panty set.
Kurt swallowed, wondering if she meant how to let him do it, or how to do it to him. Either way, he slid his fingers down her stomach, and caressed her thigh. His other hand made short, short work of her bra, before he gently took her into the bed and laid her out. He started by kissing her throat. “Just relax, liebchen.”
She wasn’t sure what she meant, really. All she knew was that she wanted more, and didn’t know how or what. He was so gentle, so kind. She stole a kiss from him before he laid her down on the bed, then felt her breath catch at his lips on her neck. A quick nod escaped her, and she closed her eyes, breathing deep and slow.
Smiling, Kurt kissed and nibbled his way down, stopping to spend quite a bit of time at her breasts. He’d learned how to best make her squirm and was putting that knowledge to the test. While he distracted her that way, his other hand slid down to push at her panties.
The breathing hard turned to gasping when he paid attention to her breasts. Her nipples hardened under his attention, and goosebumps rose along her arms. She twisted a little under his touch, growing wet downstairs. The panties came down and off easily.
He nipped at her nipples, lightly, knowing his teeth were extra sharp now, and then nipped his way until he was between her legs. Kurt licked her thigh, and groaned at her scent. He managed to make whatever he said in German sound incredibly sexy.
Cadence was breathing shallow breaths now, nervous and excited and thrilled and terrified all at the same time. She held her breath when she felt his tongue against her thigh, then gave a chuckle at the sound of his voice. She mumbled something back at him in Spanish, her voice breathy and wanting.
“Mm...” Kurt grinned, and kissed her, right there. And there too. His tongue started to do little swirly motions, and he explored her. He really never got to do this sort of thing enough.
“Oh, my.” Cadence said, then gave a little giggle. “...it tickles.” She explained. But her words were short lived, as she gave a gasp right after. Her legs spread a bit. More than tickled. That felt good.
Kurt laughed, bringing his fingers up to help as he licked and kissed at her. He zoned in on certain areas of incredible sensitivity, and sucked. Hard.
“Oh, my--” Cadence said, then gave another gasp and squirmed under him. It was as if her body was moving without her controlling it. She felt her toes curl, her legs shudder, her arms flail, and couldn’t control any of it. The pleasure was building.
From this position, Kurt could get better leverage with his hands, and with his tongue. He groaned, holding her waist down and looking up at her while he went down, trying to catch her eyes.
She lifted her head, wanting to see him. Her eyes caught his for just a moment before a gasp and her back arching made her lose the contact. It was absolutely fantastic. This was better than anything they’d ever done, better than anything she had ever done. Ever.
The arching of her back and the sound she made spurred Kurt on. He didn’t seem to tire, or grow weary, and only seemed to enjoy it the louder he made Cadence gasp. He reached up to take one of her hands while his other fingers and his tongue continued their desperate dance.
Cadence’s hand turned a little when he grabbed it, and she laced her fingers with his to squeeze it hard. Her body was squirming, her breath coming in deep, powerful gasps. “Oh, Kurt, just like that...” She moaned. It was so good, so amazing, she couldn’t hold on. Every muscle in her body tensed, her toes curling, and she came right there against him.
“God yes,” Kurt groaned, sucking and licking harder at her as her orgasm crested against his mouth. He caught his breath, cheek nuzzling her thigh, and he rubbed at his jaw. “I could do that every day, Cadence.”
“M-Maybe you sh-should.” Cadence breathed, still shivering and shuddering as she came down from that spectacular high. How could that be a sin? How could this come between her and her relationship with God? It was beautiful, magical, and she felt so much love. She was bursting with love for Kurt, for herself, for everyone. She gave a huge sigh and started to relax down against the bed.
Kurt lay on his back next to Cadence, and pulled her in close, arms tight around her. He was...uncomfortable in certain ways, but it was easy enough to ignore in the bask of her glow and her love.
Cadence turned and curled up against him, closing her eyes and sighing. She wanted to cuddle up against him and fall asleep in his arms. There was so much love, it was nearly overwhelming. And she was exhausted from what he’d just done to her. “Shit,” she breathed. The curse sounded completely alien coming from her lips. “...there’s food on the stove.”
“It’ll be fine...” He laughed, then unzipped his pants to prevent friction hurts. He nuzzled his face against Cadence’s shoulder and kissed it. “and I already...ate.”
Cadence blinked for a moment, looking at him. “...you... oh.” She said, then swallowed, and laughed. “I see.” She turned to nuzzle her nose against his hair, cuddling close against him. “I’m going to fall asleep against you. And you have to go turn off the stove and put the food away, because I can’t. I’m too...” She wrapped her arm around his waist, cuddling even closer to him. “...too...”
“Vorn out?” Kurt smiled. “I’ll take care of the food, and myself, mien love. You rest.” He stroked his hands along her torso, and chest. “I love you.”
Cadence nodded. Her eyes were closed, her body completely relaxed. She smiled and forced her eyes open to look up into his. “I love you, too.” She said, then her eyes fell closed again.
