Yukale was already waiting in the bar of the luxury hotel. She’d ordered a drink but she hadn’t yet done more than taste it. She was waiting for Zelda before she started to drink.
Zelda was running late, as she’d been bombarded by photographers on her way from lunch that afternoon. It made everything run a little slower. She was late to get back home to her house, and late to getting dressed for the night, and late to getting in the car, but at least the driver made it to the hotel in record time.
She came hurrying in, ignoring the turning of heads and people vying for her attention, and moved to the bar where she glanced around for the other girl.
The idol turned, and waved at Zelda. It was strange, being in this country. She didn’t get anywhere near the amount of attention she got back home. If she had anything to do about it, though, that would change. She wondered what the tabloids would say about this, then decided she didn’t care. “Hi! You must be Zelda!”
Zelda broke into a huge smile. “Hi!” She said, then reached over to give the girl a quick hug in greeting. Zelda was like that. “I sure am! And you must be Yukale.” She said, then took the stool next to her new friend.
That was great! Yuka loved hugs. She hugged Zelda back, and there were flashes of lightbulbs nearby. She tuned them out. “Yep! It’s nice being called that. All I get everywhere I go back home is my stage name. I don’t mind it, but it’s cool to be reminded of who I really am.”
Zelda almost always had to tune them out. She grinned and nodded. “Your stage name? What’s your stage name?” She asked, then motioned toward the bartender. He waited for the flashes to stop, then set down a Coke in front of Zelda on the bar.
“Ravenwing!” Yukale picked up her drink and then took a sip once Zelda had hers. She toasted her. “I’ve got like..thirty albums.”
“Wow. That’s amazing.” Zelda said, then lifted her glass to clink against Yuka’s. “I don’t have any albums, though I’ve been approached by a couple of different people wanting to get me to sing. I really shouldn’t sing.’ She said, laughing. “...nor should I act. But they want to give me a catch phrase and put me on television, like Paris Hilton.”
“You can’t act or sing? Would you like to be in a video anyway?” Yuka grinned at her. “Only if you can dance!”
“A video??” Zelda asked, then laughed. “I might have two left feet!” She grinned, lifting the glass for another sip. “I don’t know. I’m not sure if I really want that attention. I already get so much as it is.”
“We can try? It would only make you famous in Japan.” Yuka waved a hand, like ‘don’t worry bout it’. “It’ll be fun. At least I’m not asking you to bungie jump or something.”
“All right. If it’s not too much trouble.” Zelda said. “Cheers.” She lifted the glass and gulped from it. “Have your people call my people,” she added, teasing.
“Do you have people? Why can’t I just call you?” Yukale laughed. It was a clear sound. She was joking. She knew how it worked.
“Wait, are you asking for my number?” Zelda flirted.
Yukale flushed, twirling her drink around as she countered. “And what if I was?”
"Then you can have it." Zelda said. She grinned softly. Zelda was straight for the most part, but did enjoy flirting.
Yukale was wondering if her gaydar was on the fritz, because she’d gotten no indication that Zelda would be interested in that sort of thing before now. Though now that she thought about it, their electronic communications had been kind of flirty.
Confused idol is confused.
“I promise not to take advantage of your generosity. Mostly.” She flashed a grin.
"Good. Because that would be naughty." Zelda said, pulling her phone out. She held it over to Yukale to punch in her name and number.
Yuka laughed, and punched in her number. She even posed for a silly picture. "A little bit of naughty only makes life interesting! You've never gotten a dirty text before?"
She was trying to figure out the extent of flirting boundaries. Some people liked to keep it friendly, and she'd misinterpreted flirting before.
Flirting was no big deal. Zelda found herself flirting with everyone. She didn’t think too much about it.
“Dirty ones?” Zelda beamed. “Those are my favorite.”
A smirk crossed Yuka’s face. A wicked one. She tapped out quickly on her phone, sending a particularly erotic suggestion to Zelda. “Like that?"
Zelda’s phone made the TARDIS whooshing sound as the text came through. She turned it over and looked at it, then burst into laughter. “Exactly like that.” She said, then her thumbs were flying across the keyboard as she typed out a response. It was equally as erotic, and she sent it back to Yukale.
The singer started to giggle, then she shoved her phone down her top, and sent Zelda the picture. It was of course, so dark and close up as to be impossible to distinguish.
Zelda laughed as the TARDIS sound rang through the hotel again. She shook her head. “Too bad that one didn’t come out.” She said, then turned the phone around so Yuka could see. “I’ll delete it, of course.” She did so, one-handed, while gulping from her coke.
“Well if you want a real one maybe I’ll surprise you later,” Yuka teased, sipping from her drink again. She spun around on her stool and laughed. It was dangerous to do that kind of thing, at least reputation-wise.
“Maybe!” Zelda said, grinning. “We should dance.” She added. The poor thing was a bit of a light-weight, and the rum in her “Coke” was going to her head.
Yukale jumped to her feet and took Zelda's hand. She pulled her out to the dance floor. The Japanese girl started to move. She seemed to tune into the music quickly, her hips swaying against Zelda’s. It didn’t matter what kind of music was playing, she just enjoyed the motion.
Zelda laughed, letting herself be dragged to the dance floor. She brought her drink with her, and danced with the other girl, following her lead. Drinking while dancing was almost as much fun as dancing on its own.
“You’re fun.” Yuka pulled Zelda closer by the waist, grinding her hips, slowly. “I’ll bet the papers love you!”
Zelda laughed again, tipping her head back and letting it roll out. “Oh, yeah. They love to write about me, and I love to read about it!” She said, then gave Yuka an exaggerated wink.
“Do you, huh?” Yukale laughed, and spun Zelda around, then ran her hands down her sides, and across her rear.
Zelda definitely wasn’t drunk enough. This was a fact. She gulped down the rest of her glass, then grabbed hold of Yuka and dragged her off the dance floor so she could put it down on a table, then dragged the other girl right back to where they were. She spun out then back in and wrapped one arm around Yukale once more. “You’re trying to get me in trouble,” she whispered. “And I kinda like it.”
“I’m infamous for it,” Yukale whispered back. “And if you hang around me, I really hope you like heights.” She flashed a naughty grin and bumped her hip against Zelda’s.
"Heights?" Zelda said, grinning. She bumped her hip back against her friend's.
“Heights. I like jumping off of them. Have you ever gone cliff-diving? It’s amazing! I’ve filmed videos diving into caves, too!” She spun around, arms in the air.
Zelda laughed. “I don’t know, I’ve never done it. Sounds a bit terrifying. Is it safe?” She asked, then spun around and dipped, twisted her hips, and came back closer, dancing to the music.
“Of course it’s not safe, you’re diving into the unknown! But it’s really, really fun.” Yuka’s skin was glowing from perspiration, and she flashed a bit of thigh.
Zelda shook her head a bit. “I dunno. Maybe. Let’s get another drink!” She said, then took hold of Yuka’s hand and led her back over to the bar.
“You little wino.” Yuka laughed as she was dragged to the bar. She didn’t seem to mind. “I want something cherry flavored.”
“Mmmm. I’ll have... whatever the bartender makes for me!” Zelda said, laughing.
The bartender had seen the girls coming, and already had Zelda’s drink ready to go. He gave the blonde a wink as he set it in front of her, then turned to Yuka. “What can I get for you?”
“Something cherry,” She said. “Surprise me! I like to live on the wild side.”
The bartender gave Yuka a wink now, and set about making her drink.
Zelda picked up hers and sipped from it. Mmm. More rum and coke. Though, it tasted like vanilla coke. Or possibly vanilla rum? She didn’t care, it was good.
“You do this often? Come visit random strange girls from Japan in a bar?” Yukale sipped hers and groaned. “Oh oh that’s good.”
Zelda laughed. “No. Not often. I was feeling... adventurous.” She said, then sipped from her own drink. “Isn’t Michael amazing?” She said, then, keeping her eyes locked with Yuka’s, she lifted her hand to fist-bump with the bartender. (He came over and gave her a bump, then went back to his business.)
“He really is amazing. Best bartender I’ve met in the states!” That wasn’t saying much, he was the first one she’d met, but she was enthusiastic about it!
Zelda laughed. “How many have you met?” She asked, knowing that Yuka was a recent arrival.
“One!” She held up precisely one finger and started to giggle.
Zelda’s laugh grew louder and stronger, and she shook her head a bit. “I think that’s cheating!” ...she was more than a little light-headed now.
"All is fair in booze and war!" Yuka let out a woop and spin around in her stool. She put her arm around Zelda and kissed her cheek. "Mwah!"
There were more flashes of light, clicking of cameras. Zelda gave a laugh, wrapping an arm around her new friend. “You’re trying to get me on the cover of some magazines, aren’t you?”
“I’ll make you famous darling!” Yukale winked. “Or maybe it’ll raise my visibility, here. That can’t hurt, can it?”
“No no, definitely can’t hurt.” Zelda said with a little giggle. “Can’t hurt either of us. I should tell my promotions girl about you. I’m sure she’d get a kick out of this.”
“Yess!” Yukale bounced in her stool. This was going to be amazing!
