"There's ... no danger of that. Not anymore." She raised her wrist to her teeth and bit down on it as hard as she could, wrenching her jaw to render a savage tear. It healed itself up before her eyes, something she presented to Erik.
Licking blood off of her lips, she chuckled to herself. "Pain used to be my refuge. A weird kind of solace. Maybe I'm atoning for my past in having it taken from me." Her blue eyes scanned his face. "But then I wouldn't have met you. So I don't know." Leaning up, she kissed him lightly on the mouth again, hoping he wouldn't be repulsed by the taste of blood on her lips.
