She had unwittingly given him a choice to make: to tell her about his experiences with Kitty, or to leave her with the peace of not knowing that people were learning how to walk through walls and leap from tall buildings. To pick the latter was an easy decision, though it left him with the pang of keeping a secret from her.
"Well, if we're all going mad, then at least we'll have plenty of company," he said, as his sandwich arrived. He forced himself to devour it a little less ravenously than he really wanted to. He'd never been a messy eater, but eating in front of the person you had feelings for was always a self-conscious experience the first time around.
Obi-Wan gulped and reminded himself that he didn't allow himself to have feelings for people--that feelings were never to be acted upon. All that likely registered on his face was a brief frown, that was replaced by a forced smile. He cleared his throat.
"Personally, I'm hoping I get to think I'm something very inconsequential. Like an orange."
