Azula walked into Rarity’s shop, wearing a short red dress with matching heels and purse. She had her hair down, and looked around the place with some amount of pride. She then slipped into the back, and surprised Rarity by leaning over and whispering in her ear. “Hello, dear.”
Rarity had been minding her own business, holding up a thing of pins in the little tomato holder, a few bales of thread and a section of fabric. The items glowing a light blue, floating in place and following her as she moved. Soon as Azula came up she jumped and it startled her focus enough to cause her to drop it, the items making tinkle noises and the occasional thud as they different materials hit the floor. She turned and wrapped her arms around her friend. “Azula!” She pulled away and focused her magic again to lift them and set them on the table and shelf so she could focus on her friend instead of keeping them in the air. “What brings you to my shop this late in the afternoon?”
Azula couldn’t help but laugh at the mess she made. It wasn’t even that cruel of a laugh. “I wanted to say hello. It’s been far too long.” She came over and gave Rarity a light hug, curious about her hands but not wanting to come out and ask about them.
“Oh it has been too long!” She clapped her hands softly, the one that had been broken still in a brace latched shut with a pendent. She had to keep it braced until it was strong enough. Rarity looked over at the gown before her and pushed her lips together before snipping off the end of the thread and set it aside. “I rebroke my hand by accident whilst you were off, darling. Slipped and it broke when I caught myself. I’ve been extra careful now. I should be able to be without the brace in a month or so.”
Azula shook her head, biting back an acerbic comment about clumsiness. She could try to be good, sometimes. Maybe. Just a little bit. If only for her friend, and because this had been her fault. “How is your business?”
“It’s doing wonderfully!” Rarity beamed, heading over to grab a slip of paper. “I’ve been asked to comment on designs in Tokyo this summer. ME! Being asked things about other peoples fashions! My opinion matters in the fashion world! Eeee!” She giggled and hugged the paper tight, a giddy squeal escaping her lips because seriously, excited!
“Of course your opinions matter. You wouldn’t be my friend if I thought you were useless.” Azula’s tone was kinder than her words. It was hard for her to admit to any kind of genuine emotion.
Rarity giggled whilst rolling her eyes, setting the paper down. She took her hand and smiled up t her, after fixing the position of her promise ring of course. “I missed you.” Hugged her again before stretched out her hand and adjusted the brace. “I’m not longer drinking either... It got bad and I’ve well... Okay. I had been sober for about a month, then a birthday party happened, but I’m staying sober from here on! And I’ve not picked up smoking at all since...” She smiled as she used her magic to grab the box of fancy chocolate cookies from across the room. “You hungry?” Opened it and took one before offering the box to her.
“Do you still smoke?” She tried to catch a whiff of cigarettes. “And I never turn down cookies.”
“Nope. Only a few of my workers do.” Handed her the box and leaned against the table with a large wedding gown laid out on it she was resizing.
“Good. You know how I feel about cigarettes,” Azula twirled her finger in the air, then rested it on Rarity’s shoulder. “Who’s is that?”
“I know. I’ve quit for good.” Smiled and looked to the dress. “A woman going into renewing her vows with her husband and she’s put on a little weight and needed it put out just a little.” Lifted it up and placed it over those bust mannequin “And I’m adding a little sparkle to it for her.” Rarity looked to her and winked. “Maybe I’ll get to make mine later this year.”
“Setsuna ask you? You should ask her.” Azula folded her arms. She wasn’t as patient in some ways as she could be, no matter how cool and collected her exterior was.
“Well... No. She gave me a promise ring on Christmas...” Showed the ring to her with a grin. “But no. I want her to ask me when she’s ready. Not a day sooner. I can deal with being promised. She’d been good about her promises recently.”
Azula frowned, her eyes narrowing, but she said nothing. She wanted concrete proof. A promise ring wasn’t proof. An engagement ring would be.
“‘Zula...” Rarity sighed and rolled her eyes before poking her nose. “Let me handle my relationship. It’s mine after all.” She tightened the brace before starting to fold the pleats of a skirt of one of her more haute designs. “And honestly... I think now is fine. Because I have too much to plan as it is, planning a wedding... Eep. But. How have you been? Why didn’t you contact me?”
“Things got difficult, and complicated,” Azula replied, shrugging her shoulder. “I didn’t have time.”
Rarity pushed her lips together and would have said something but... She couldn’t bring herself too. Instead, she picked out two sodas from the mini fridge and handed one to her. “Here. You look thirsty.”
She took a soda, popping it open with her nail and taking a sip. “I thought about you.”
“Oh? About what?” Sat on the table and crossed one leg over her knee, brushing her now shoulder length hair behind her ears. She liked having her hair this long again and she was just growing it out longer.
“If you were all right. If you needed anything.” She shrugged a shoulder. “I might have placed a few internet orders, here and there.”
Rarity smiled, sipping at her drink quietly before responded. “I was doing well enough. Several gowns complete for high end people. Had a few critics here and there but they were easy enough to get off my case.” She ran a hand over her neck. “I missed you... A lot. I thought you abandoned me to be entirely honest. Thought I’d done something to make you leave.”
“It wasn’t anything you did,” Azula responded. “With the dreams, and everything, I needed some time to get my head together, and my father needed me.”
Rarity nodded and dropped off the table to grab a bag of gummy bears. She used them against cravings for drinking because it reminded her of jello shots and she could deal with it. She smiled and offered her some from the empty bag. “Well you’re here now.”
Azula took one and popped it into her mouth, sucking lightly. “I am. We should get up to some sort of trouble.”
“Oh... Well. I don’t know about that. Can’t get into too much or Setsuna will frown and I’m doing so well already.” Ran a hand through her hair, a bit hesitant because of Azula’s form of trouble. “I’d rather not get hurt again...”
“I promise you you won’t be hurt,” Azula assured her, waving a hand dismissively.
Rarity kept her expression of worry, running a hand over the back of her neck. “Depends on what you have in mind.” She’d love to spend time with her, she’s just concerned that there will be a little too much trouble for her image. “I have the media on me right now...”
“Don’t worry about the Media.” Azula smiled seductively. “I have ways.”
The look in her eyes concerned Rarity to no end. For reasons that fear that she was ‘growing up’. She loved her friend, but some of the things she got into were out of her league... But it was her friend after all. So... What was she to do. She felt forced to agree, but did all the same. “Alright... What you have in mind, petit feu.”
“You’ll see when we get there. Put on something sexy.”
“How sexy? I’m a designer, that’s a dangerous command to give me, darling.”
“Just do it, Rarity. Maybe pick something out for me too.”
“But... What themes? Are we going somewhere in need of a costume? Something for a party? Strip club type place? You really ought to give more information than that, love.” Waved a hand but headed towards the walk in closet with all the things she’s made. “And no need to get so pushy.”
“Something sexy but not slutty,” Azula clarified. She fidgeted. “I want to pick someone up and I need a wingwoman.”
“Now that I can do.” Rarity began rummaging through her closets, pulling out a few different pieces. “Needing a little one night time with the whips and chains?” Winked playfully and went looking through shoes.
“No whips and chains, I need something real,” Azula said, the honesty in her voice surprising her.
Rarity smiled. “You did some maturing while you were away, it’s nice to see.” Not that she was really one to talk. She pulled out a red low cut dress with black beading on the bottom with speckles of orange and yellow crystals along the lowest hem, a pair of black pumps, and a few different bangles for her wrists. “Here’s for you. now for me.. Hmm.” Looked at the spring sexy winter selection she had picked out.
Not caring about her nudity, Azua stripped and pulled the dress on, then checked herself in the mirror as she pulled the bangles on. “Not bad.”
Rarity rolled her eyes and slipped on a skirt, navy blue with a white rhinestone trim, and a white droop neckline shirt that was a halter top. She added earring and white heels, setting on a few silver accents of bracelets and earrings because she can. She did a quick swipe of maroon lipstick over her lips and freshened her perfume before putting on a matching navy beret on her head off to the side. “There.”
"Always fashionable," Azula commented. She was ready to party!
“Of course. How much of me did you forget, daring?” Rolled her eyes and told the woman at front to close up and to buy herself dinner if she needed to stay in later before stepping out. “You’re driving me there. I’m not using my car, gas is annoying to fill and smells horrid.”
“I start fires, do you really want me filling the gas?” Azula replied, though she was mostly joking. “I prefer my Mazda anyway. It’s sportier and faster.” And she drove like a maniac.
“Just try not to kill me!” She teased. “Almost happened once, would rather it not happen again.” Got into the car with her, locking the seatbelt around and sent a quick text to Setsuna that Azula was dragging her out.
Azula took the car out of park. “Trust me. The last thing I want to do is harm my friends.” Then she peeled out.
Rarity smiled and brushed her hair strand behind her ear. “Hey Azula... Remember that one time before I got with Setsuna... You and I had a few too many.”
“I had a few too many, and you took advantage,” Azula replied, darting her eyes.
Rarity pouted. “You enjoyed it just as much as I did.” Though the hinting that she’d done something wrong was enough to make her frown.
“Of course I did. Why do you think I let you take advantage.” Azula threw her head back and laughed.
Half laughed and looked at her then out the window. Way to make her insanely guilty. “Yeah.... Let me.”
“What?” She looked over, then put a hand on Rarity’s arm. She forgot sometimes that she was really terrible at jokes and social interaction. “It was good, Rarity. I lied. I had just enough.”
Rarity still seemed a little off, but she’d deal with it. She nodded and looked to her. “I’m glad. It was good for what it was. Kinky too.” Gently nudged Azula’s knee.
“I will not apologize,” Azula responded, lifting her head up defiantly.
“Neither will I.” Smirked. “So what if we fucked. Doesn’t change our friendship.”
"Helped me realize some things." Things her father would have a cow over, if he ever found out.
“Some things? Like what? That I was the best sex you’d ever have” Giggled, teasing her.
Azula rolled her eyes, but didn’t answer. She smirked, took a corner on two wheels, and sped through a red light.
“AZULA!” Half screamed and glared at her. “Drive safer! Just because you can afford the fines, doesn’t mean you should break street laws!”” Glared at her, but it was a little of a thrill.
She laughed, and squeeled the car to a stop in front of a club. She turned the engine off. “Show me how to seduce a woman.”
Blinked and stepped out of the car. “Really? Teach you?” Sure it wasn’t impossible, but she knew Azula could be a little stubborn and hot headed, no pun intended.
“It’s the one thing I’m terrible at. I was terrible with boys and I’m as bad with girls.”
“The one thing?” Arched an eyebrow. “As if there was a one thing you’re bad at?” She teased and stuck her tongue at her.
“Then I’ll get better at it.” Azula tilted her head. “Well then, after you.”
They stepped into the club and as per usual, eyes fell on her. She was gorgeous, had a brilliant body, brilliant look. And she was the air of confidence. Rarity went over and asked for a virgin strawberry daiquiri mostly because not drinking anymore. “Go for someone you can tell is single.”
Azula looked at Rarity like she had grown a horn in her head. “How do I tell that?”
“Well... Ones that are looking around the room.” Took a sip of her drink.
“Okay.” And Azula squinted, looking closely.
“Darling. Relax... guys are the one who’re meant to get... Rigid.” She teased, flipping her hair back. A guy came up to her and offered to buy her a drink, sure she took it, but not without flashing her ring to him. He seems upset, yes, but was soon followed by another woman who decided to try for her. She shook her head again, chuckling. This is why she never goes out anymore.
Azula eyed her friend, completely baffled at how she so easily did this. She folded her arm, scowling.
It took her a little, getting the woman to g, but noticing Azula like that made her frown. “Zula...Darling...” Shifted her hips and took her hand. “Come on.. Let’s dance and see if I can get some girls to approach you.” Took her to the dance floor and began grinding up against her.
Groaning softly, Azula started to dance against Rarity. She had absolutely no rhythm, not until she started to treat it like a firebending form. She suddenly became genuinely graceful.
“There we go...” Rarity commented and reached down to take hold of one side of her hips, following the motions. “You also have a cute blonde eyeing you. Just a heads up. If you go over, or she comes to you. Compliment her outfit, then her eyes, then her cheekbones... And ask her what shes doing being alone...”
“I’m not a big fan of blondes,” Azula said quietly, though she lifted her eyes to meet the blonde’s. Could she afford to be picky right now?
Chuckled and rolled her eyes. “Or theres the cutie with the dyed pink hair?” Flipped her hair and turned her around so she could face her. “Do not ask if the curtains match the drapes. Okay?”
“I suppose that wouldn’t go over well?” Azula asked, looking at her. She seemed more her type, athletic and peppy. Not many people would believe Azula’s type was the cheerful kind.
“It wouldn’t. And try to be more.. Complimentary still. And not as dull. Let your fire show.” Winked and shoved her the girls direction.
Three minutes later, Azula had been slapped twice, and was well on her way to a third slap with a brown haired girl, when she got a kiss instead of a slap.
Rarity had gone back to the bar and was just watching her. It was amusing, seeing her friend getting slapped. Not in the being mean way! Just the fact she was trying so hard. At the kiss, she made out a little cat call before turning to see a guy coming up to her. An ex lover. Great. she tried not to react, tried to hide behind her hair and as soon as she came up she feigned a smile and a fond hello.
As they kept talking, he got closer and she was getting more than a little uncomfortable. In fact, too uncomfortable. She set the drink down and went to walk away when he moved to put his hand between her thighs and that was it. She grabbed his hand, twisted it bag and pulled a fist back and punched as hard as she could. and she used her not having been broken hand! Because punching some buff guy with a still recovering hand would not have been smart. Well, hitting him inside a club was not smart either, because the bouncers came up and escorted her out. Stating she’d had too much to drink. She fought them the whole way out because dammit, her drinks had been virgin!
“You assholes!” She fumed and stomped her heels before taking one off and throwing it to try and hit one of them. “I didn’t do anything wrong. This is the worst. possible. thing!” Rolled her eyes and took off the other shoe wanting to throw it at the window. And well, shes adorable when angry.
Azula gave the brunette her number, the address to her office and a time, and then slipped away after her friend. She was smiling in triumph. “I know what I’m doing tonight. Are you all right, do I need to hurt someone?”
“Just. Fucking. PEACHY! Peachy! Totally goddamn fine.” She turned to the door and flipped them. Just a bunch of sexist asshole pricks!” Grabbed her shoes and headed to the car when she noticed a rip in her dress. “Well. As if it couldn’t get any fucking worse?!” And... Next thing she knew she was right by a drain and they had washed the street. A car came up and splashed her head to toe with water, leaving her with her mouth hanging open, wet, and muddy. “Ewwwwwwwwwww”
Azula tilted her head, watching her calmly with a smile on her face. She inhaled deeply, and then exhaled. Hot air blasted over Rarity, drying her in an instant. It probably wasn’t that good for her hair.
She was thankful for no longer being wet, but not ho hair made her look like she was a poodle and seeing herself in the mirror meant she let out a girly and distressed squeal. “My cheveux!” Pulled and primped at it, trying to get it to look good with no progress.
“Lets get you home and cleaned up. I’ll pay for the dry cleaning,” Azula assured her, in too good a mood to let this sour it. And okay, it was a little funny.
Rarity sniffled and nodded, stepping into the drivers seat and waited for her. “I swear, you start laughing, I’m setting your ass into the sparkliest damn dress I can come up with.”
“Who wants to laugh,” Azula said smoothly. “I’ve got a date tonight.” She paused. “Well. Not a date. But you know.”
“You got a one night stand. Or more. Your choice.” Sighed. “In fact. I’m going to just take you home, go back to my place, slip into a bubble bath eat a small pint of ice cream while watching...” Okay not finishing that. Last thing Azula needs to know is that she watches Here comes Honey Boo Boo avidly. Neither does Setsuna for that matter. “Then maybe call my girlfriend over. You’re not allowed to be the only one getting laid tonight!”
“Deal.” Azula put her arm around Rarity, and smiled.
