Pepper had managed to call someone from the office after the whole FBI questioning thing and get them to bring her a couple of things from the office. She got a couple of changes of clothes, her work for the week, her laptop, just stuff to keep her busy. She also managed to get Happy on the phone and have him come down with some of the things Tony might need or want during his stay in the hospital. At least Pepper wasn't wearing Tony-blood anymore.
She'd been allowed into the room as soon as Tony was out of the ICU and she hadn't left for anything other than when the nurses kicked her out or she needed to hunt down some food for herself. If they had been serving Tony actual meals she probably would have just stolen that food, but he wasn't awake to eat.
Pepper wasn't really sure how many days passed before Tony started to stir. He started to groan and then went straight for the tubing. Pepper shot straight up out of the chair next to the bed and went into panic mode. "Oh, god. Tony! Don't do that!" she exclaimed. If the tube needed to be removed a nurse should do it. She went from almost grabbing at his hands to stop him, to pulling away. She didn't touch anything because she was too afraid to and she didn't know what to do except call for a nurse, so call she did. "Nurse!" she exclaimed.
