"You're not a burden." There was something insistent about Wanda's tone. "I only came out here to look for you. If you want to stay with me, you can stay."
What that had to do with the offer of sleeping space was anyone's guess. Wanda didn't clarify. Instead, she tried to find something else to latch onto - something good. The car. "Really? I take the bus, so you're a step ahead of me. To get a license I'd have to pay for driver's school, and that's always seemed like too much trouble."
