“You’ve never done that before?” Who: Kate & Bellatrix What: Meeting/Other Things When: Early February Where: Coffee Shop/Bella's Bedroom Rating: High. R-ish. Sex happens. Status: Complete!
For Kate, it had been a long week. And she'd been looking forward to sharing a day off with her fiancé for a change. Until he got called in to cover someone else's shift, leaving her alone and bored in an empty house.
Times like this probably called for alcohol, but she was never fond of drinking alone. Coffee would have to do.
Bellatrix preferred tea, but she also liked to people watch. In other lives, they’d all be beneath her, but in this one...well they were beneath her. So there really wasn’t much time there. Bella took a seat at a table with an expensive tea.
Kate didn't much care for people who looked down on her, and she didn't respond kindly to being looked down upon. There was something to be said for giving everyone a fair chance. If there wasn't, she would still be cracking safes.
It was no surprise then, that when she walked into the coffee shop, the woman sitting on her throne caught her focus.
Okay. Maybe she could make snap judgements.
Bellatrix sipped her tea, a smile crossing her lips. She was wearing a black leather skirt and corset, and looked like she belonged on a throne instead of a coffee shop chair. She eyed the woman, her smile turning into a smirk.
Really? Snap judgment or not, she was standing by it, muttering an irritated, “This day just keeps getting better.”
And she was talking to herself again. Fantastic.
Paying and collecting her cup, she shot a glare in the other woman’s direction. “What?”
Today? Definitely counted as a bad day.
"Am I bothering you, lovey?" The woman had a bit of a British accent, though it was difficult to tell if she affected it or it was natural. For Bella, it was a bit of both. Dream bleedover made it feel more natural for her.
“Yeah. Something like that.”
“I’m sorry that I’m sitting here and minding my own business.” She sneered at Kate.
“Right.” She raised her arms in a gesture of surrender before turning to walk away. “You know what? Never mind.”
She didn’t have time to deal with miserable people. Why had she moved to California again?
“Never mind? Too late.” She pointed at a chair. “Take a seat.”
Come on, Kate. It would be better if you just went home and tried to forget today ever happened.
With a sigh and no small amount of glaring, she dropped into the indicated chair.
“So what’s your bleeding problem?” She leaned forward, threatening to pop out of her corset as she regarded the woman. Kate was rather pretty, and Bella openly admired her beauty.
She raised an eyebrow. “Besides you?”
“Yes, besides me.” She flashed a grin at Kate, picking up her drink and sipping slowly. She locked her eyes onto the other woman’s.
“You look like a woman with your own problems. Maybe you shouldn’t be so worried about mine.”
“Actually, I feel remarkably free!” Bellatrix laughed, and it lacked the usual cruelness it usually had. “My problems can wait.”
And she’s crazy. Great.
“Yeah. Not exactly the type I go to for advice. But I’m happy for you. Really.”
“Thank you, lovey.” Bellatrix smiled at her, the expression not unlike that of a shark’s. “You needn’t be such a bitch. We’re getting off on the wrong start.”
“I hadn’t noticed.”
But finally, grudgingly, she offers her hand. “Kate Freelander.”
“Bellatrix Black.” She shook Kate’s hand, hoping Kate wouldn’t recognize the name from her family’s megachurch. She was still in the ‘attempting to disown the bastards’ phase.
It seemed vaguely familiar. But Kate’s never been one for church, and in her line of work, she likes to avoid the news.
“You come here often?”
“Lovey, that’s a terrible line, you should learn to work at it.” Bellatrix laughed. “Actually I avoid this place like the plague.”
“Why am I not surprised?” She wiggled her fingers slightly, for once actually wearing the rather simple silver band. “And I think I’m doing fine.”
Her eyes fell onto the band, then rolled in an exaggerated fashion, as though the mere concept of a wedding band was somehow intolerant. “Good for you then.”
“And I’m the bitch?”
"Sorry, that's my bitterness showing." She flashed a grin at Kate. "I do. Hope you're happy."
“We’re working on it.” Kind of hard to do when they could barely manage a couple waking hours a day together. She was just hoping one of them would eventually be assigned a new shift.
“Working on it?” Bellatrix tilted her head, then leaned forward. She wondered if it would have the desired effect of looking like she’d spill out of her corset.
Oh, it had an effect, and Kate wasn’t beyond admiring a beautiful woman. But she remained fairly unimpressed.
“Yeah.” She shrugs. “You know. It takes a lot of work.”
“Tell me about it. So I can warn a dear friend what she’s getting herself into.”
“You have friends?” She almost managed to sound insulting, but there was a hint of amusement underscoring her words.
“A riot, I know. I’m not usually this bad, but I’m in a pissy mood.” Bellatrix scowled, sitting back and crossing her arms over her stomach. She was letting her dreams get to her again.
"Ah. You too? I hadn't noticed."
“You glared at me first, lovey.” Bellatrix smiled, then laughed.
"Yeah. I guess I did." She leaned back in her seat; she had nothing against slouching. "Not exactly how I planned to spend my day."
“What were your plans?” the eldest Black sister said, tilting her head.
"A quiet day at home. Maybe dinner."
“How boring. You should get out, have a little fun.” Bellatrix grinned at her. “Something better than this place.”
“This place,” she made a sweeping gesture toward the rest of the coffee shop, “is about as fun as it gets. Fun leads to trouble. And trouble gets me fired.”
“What do you do, lovey?”
“I work at The Farm. Supervising the inmates.” She took a drink of her coffee, offering a wry smile. “Believe me. It isn’t as fun as it sounds.”
That wasn’t to say she didn’t enjoy it.
“It sounds like it would be a grand time!” Of course, Bellatrix would probably enjoy it overly much, and get canned after one too many accidental injuries.
“They’re low risk. Mostly friendly. But hey, it’s a job, right?”
Maybe she was a little bit too attached to her charges, but she didn’t think that needed to be public knowledge.
“I suppose. I hate mine. Frankly, I’m bloody surprised I still have it, considering what a black sheep I’m turning out to be.”
“Are you gonna make me ask?”
“Do you want to?” Bellatrix challenged.
She leaned forward, elbows on the table. “Oh, absolutely.”
“Okay lovey, go ahead and ask.” She leaned forward as well, eyes on Kate’s
“What is this career you hate so much? And why does it matter?”
“I’m a video editor for Black Ministries,” Bellatrix replied. “Or soon that will be a was, I hope. The family is remarkably difficult to escape. It’s not even the work.” It was her family, and the lies they peddled to line their pockets, while hiding who they really were.
“Fanatics?”
“Oh yes.” Bellatrix rolled her eyes and shrugged her shoulder. “It’s hard to tell where the lies begin and the reality ends.”
“You’d love the convicts. I can’t say much for honesty, but you always know where they stand. And you never have to question who or what they are.”
“Perhaps I ought to commit a crime,” Bellatrix suggested.
“It isn’t really as fun as they claim.”
“I don’t know about that.” She thought about her dreams, and felt a momentary panic in her stomach. All that had been fun, and she felt sick.
Kate shrugged, leaning back in her seat again. “Maybe it depends on who you’re working for.”
"Maybe. Maybe it depends on what you're doing. Or why you're doing it." Bellatrix looked down at her hands, as though momentarily at a loss for words. She didn't want to explain to a stranger that she was a murderer and maniac when she dreamed. She'd be thought a lunatic!
She studied the woman again, thinking she might be hiding something. But it wasn’t her place to ask, and she really didn’t want to know.
“Yeah. Maybe it does.”
This conversation wasn’t turning out as expected. Bellatrix actually seemed as though she deflated. “Do you ever have dreams?”
That was an…odd question. “Sure. I mean, I think everyone dreams sometime. Why?”
“I mean dream. Dreams that seem too real.”
“You mean the crazy dreams. The ones all over the internet.” She shook her head, taking a drink. “Nothing like that.”
“They’re hell. Utter and complete hell. I’m not even sure they’re worth it any more.” A dementor appeared in her mind and she shuddered.
“That bad? Most people seem to enjoy them.”
“Well..there’s some good parts. Want to see them?” She reached down between her breasts, and pulled out her wand.
That was met with a heavy dose of unvoiced skepticism. Her look said it all, really.
Rolling her eyes, Bellatrix levitated Kate's beverage, and made it spin in a slow smirk. Her smirk said it all, really.
“Neat trick. Who taught you that one?”
Twirling the wand, Bellatrix smirked. “I went to a school, lovey, but I was always gifted from a young age. Go ahead, look for strings.”
“No. I don’t think I will.” It was difficult to deny what was right in front of her face. Besides, there was some weird shit going on around here lately.
"So yes, it's a neat trick." She lowered the beverage and then dropped the wand back down her cleavage. She leaned forward, purring. "I can do so much more."
“It isn’t polite to tease.”
“I can do more than tease,” Bellatrix replied. “Do you want to learn?”
“I thought it required natural talent?”
“Yes, it does, but I can at least demonstrate.” Bellatrix twirled a finger, causing Kate’s hair to ruffle.
"Show off." She tapped a finger against her coffee cup. "Should you really be doing that here?"
“Why not? No one is paying attention to us. Lovey, we could snog and they’d scarcely bat an eye.” Bellatrix raised her eyebrows. “want to test that theory?”
She rolled her eyes. “It’s California. And you know, I could have sworn I mentioned the fact that I’m taken.”
Just for good measure, she wiggled her fingers again.
"So? Why should that bloody stop you?" Bellatrix waggled her bare finger back at Kate, smirking. "Really, marriage is bullshite."
“We aren’t married yet.”
“Then you have time for one last fling, before you chain yourself to a man for the rest of your life.”
“Oh. Is that how it works?”
“That’s exactly how it works. Have you ever even been curious about a woman?” Bellatrix leaned forward, to emphasize her words.
“I did go to college.” She’d been more than curious, but she’d written it off as a one-time fling.
“Funny, so did I! I knew well before then of course.” When you fooled around with your foster sister you quickly suss out just where you stood on the scale.
“Of course. You seem like someone who knows exactly what she wants.”
Bellatrix shrugged her shoulder, “You’d be surprised...”
She took another minute to quietly study her. “Yeah? Surprise me.”
Briefly, Bellatrix considered the Imperius Curse. She could make Kate do anything she wanted. Do anything she wanted to Kate. But she threw the idea out, and instead leaned across the table and kissed her.
It was more pleasant than she remembered it being, more pleasant than she’d expected, and she returned the kiss easily.
“Not bad. But it doesn’t count.” She leaned in closer. “I thought I asked you to surprise me.”
Bellatrix smirked, and held up Kate's bra. "I quite like your style. It's rather daring."
Okay. That had actually been a surprise. “Sneaky. I’m going to need that back.”
“Mmm.. no. I like it, I think I’ll keep it.” Even though it clearly wouldn’t fit her, she stuffed it into her purse.
She chuckled, crossing her arms on the table in front of her. "Of course you will."
Bellatrix smiled cheerfully. “If you want it back, you’ll have to earn it.”
"Oh?"
“Yes, lovey.”
"Okay. I'll play. How do I get it back?"
“You have to do something that surprises me, lovey.” Bellatrix grinned triumphantly, like she didn’t expect Kate to take the bait.
“Didn’t I already? You seem like a hard woman to impress.”
Bella considered that for a moment. “Well. I am.”
“I thought so.” With that, she closed the distance between them again. “I like a challenge.”
Getting to her feet, Bellatrix planted her hands on her hips, cocking her head arrogantly.
“What? Do you expect me to follow?”
“Hardly. I’m curious lovey. Just how do you plan to approach this challenge?”
“I haven’t decided yet.”
Smiling, Bellatrix leaned forward, her eyes flashing, taunting and demanding.
“Did you already have something in mind?”
“On how you could impress me?” Bellatrix cocked her head again, then gestured with the crook of her finger. “Come closer.”
Leaving her coffee behind, she stood, rounding the table. “How close?”
“Closer,” Bellatrix purred.
She took a few steps closer, shooting her a questioning glance.
The witch hooked her finger into Kate’s shirt and pulled her closer, until their lips were mere centimeters apart. “Closer.”
“If I get much closer, we’ll need to be the same person.”
“That’s one way to put it.” Bellatrix chuckled, then pressed her lips against Kate’s once again.
This time, she leaned into the kiss, her hands settling against the other woman’s hips.
Bellatrix was a good kisser, or perhaps just an enthusiastic one. More importantly, the hand that wasn't hooked in Kate's shirt was on the other woman's hip.
One hand slid to the small of her back, with just enough pressure to keep Bellatrix against her. That little voice in the back of her mind telling her just how bad of an idea this was seemed to be fading quickly.
Bella felt her skin buzzing, and forced the kiss to go deeper and kissing with more hunger. There was anger there, at herself for denying herself something like this in futile attempts to stay with Caprica.
Kate almost hated herself for allowing it. Almost. Garris valued loyalty; he'd never forgive her this. But at the moment, she couldn't bring herself to care.
“Hold on,” Bellatrix murmured against Kate’s lips. There was a rushing of air, and then Bellatrix apparated them to her bedroom. She started to kiss Kate harder, and more passionately, hands roaming and touching.
Kate was left momentarily confused by the sudden shift in scenery. But then she was kissing her again, and it didn't seem to matter.
Bellatrix’s grin was triumphant, but she didn’t break the kiss. She made it burn like lightning, and ice and fire. She didn’t give a fuck that Kate might be claimed. She just wanted to feel free.
Setting thoughts of her fiancé aside, Kate sought the lacing of the other woman's corset.
It was hard to undo, at first, one lace getting stuck for a moment. The Witch nuzzled at Kate, flicking her tongue against her lips and pressing her hips into the other woman’s.
She wasn't known for her patience, but she was easily distracted from her frustration by Bellatrix's tongue, her body pressed against hers. Now, if only she could get the damn thing off.
There was something to be said for simplicity.
With a little growl, Bella pulled her hands out of Kate’s shirt, and then helped with the laces. The corset fell to the ground, and she breathed freely. She sometimes forgot how freeing taking that thing off was. She groaned.
With a satisfied grin, she slid her hands up the other woman's sides, exploring.
Bella arched her back, eyes sliding shut at the feel of hands on her skin. It had been much too long. She was needy, but she would never admit that. She would only admit to taking, and taking and taking. Bellatrix never needed. Except when she did.
Kate's hands continued to roam, fingers lightly digging into her skin. Then her attention turned to freeing Bellatrix of her skirt as well, impatient and eager for the contact.
She wanted to say something, but thought that words would ruin the moment. Her lips found Kate’s again as she tried to get her hands into the woman’s pants. Her blood rushed in her head and her skin felt hot.
Kate wasn't much interested in talking. Talking would make this real, remind her what a horribly bad idea this was. Feeling was better.
Bella pushed Kate onto the bed, shimmying out of her skirt, and then her panties, before crawling on top, teeth and lips nibbling as she slid up Kate’s body.
Kate's hands settled once more at her waist, tugging her closer.
She peered down at Kate’s face, grinning, before kissing her again and sliding her hand down the woman’s throat. She wanted to touch all of her.
She wouldn't be getting any complaints. Kate returned the kiss greedily, dragging her nails over the other woman's back.
Arching, Bellatrix gave out a soft gasp. She started to get a little rougher, stroking around Kate’s breasts and then down her stomach, desperate to feel her warmth.
Tangling a hand in her hair, Kate rolled her hips up to meet her, a little more insistent than before.
Grinning, the witch pushed her hand between Kate’s legs, exploring gently and then with more need.
Groaning, she tightened her fingers in the other woman's hair, pulling roughly, her free hand moving between them.
Bellatrix laughed, sinking her teeth lightly onto Kate’s collar bone, and sucking, her fingers dancing and caressing. She even added a little extra spark from one of her spells.
Whatever Bellatrix was doing, it felt incredible. With a slight whimper, Kate freed her hand from her hair, digging her nails into her shoulder.
“That’s a good girl,” Bella murmured, voice thick and hungry. She shifted, pinning Kate beneath her and trying to find a position that would give her more room.
“Yeah, well, I try.” Hooking a leg around the other woman’s hip, she tugged her down for another impatient kiss.
She liked this. Beyond just the sex and the touching and the naked body beneath her. She liked Kate’s attitude. The woman had balls, and that turned her on. Or maybe just impatience turned her on. Regardless, she eagerly kissed Kate back.
Kate was plenty impatient. It had been weeks. And the woman above her was just forceful enough to alleviate her guilt, let her feel instead of think.
Weeks? What kind of fiance was this? Bellatrix could tell it had been some time. Hell, it had been a month or longer for herself. There was a freedom in this. In touching another woman, in learning another body. She nipped and kissed her way down Kate’s chest, and then her stomach.
She didn’t exactly blame him. Their respective shifts didn’t leave them an abundance of time together, especially lately. But it was becoming more and more difficult to tolerate the strain it put on their relationship.
This wasn’t difficult. This was easy.
Kate tangled her hand back in the other woman’s hair, enough pressure to keep her close but not enough to direct.
The witch stayed close, tracing her lips across Kate’s skin, and her tongue around her belly button. Then, peering up at her with dark eyes, she lowered her face between the woman’s legs.
Kate fisted a hand in the sheets, lifting her hips to meet her. Her other hand remained pressed firmly against the back of her head, making sure she stayed where she wanted her.
That turned Bella on more, and she groaned against Kate’s flesh, closing her eyes and going to town.
She tipped her head backward, arching her back. “Fuck.”
Bellatrix laughed, sucking hard, and flicking her tongue faster. She lifted Kate’s hips up, eyes still closed. She loved this.
Definitely better than she remembered. But her one experience with another woman had been back in college, and they both might have been a little drunk.
Vaguely, she wondered why she had been wasting so much time with men.
Men were droll. Bellatrix had often wondered why she’d put up with her husband in her dreams. It seemed to be a marriage of convenience and mutual crazy, and not genuine love. She still had trouble parsing her feelings for Voldemort. They were strong enough she wasn’t sure what she’d do if he showed up.
Not that she was thinking about any of that. She was doing everything she knew to convince Kate that really, she didn’t need a man. Ever.
And it was working. She could feel the familiar tightening, her skin flushed. God, she needed this.
Groaning in triumph, Bellatrix lifted her head, then lowered it again and started to push Kate towards the edge.
The woman was so infuriatingly smug. But that was what had drawn her into this mess to begin with, what had made her so attractive.
She groaned, fisting her fingers in Bellatrix's hair, back arching as she went rigid.
Bella helped Kate ride over the cliff. She paused to catch her breath, and rubbed at her jaw.
Kate's hand slid out of her hair, and she reached for her arm, gently tugging her upward.
She let Kate pull her up, and kissed the other woman as soon as her lips were in reach. She growled.
She pulled her closer, returning the kiss eagerly. Taking a minute to gather herself, she slowly wrapped her leg around the other woman's, trying to reverse their positions.
Bellatrix resisted at first, and then let Kate flip them over. Her eyes were dark and her lips flushed. She propped herself up on her elbows. Except for Lulu, Kate was the only woman she’d been with except for Caprica.
Kate leaned back enough to properly look at her. "You'll let me repay the favor?"
“Do I look like a bloody idiot?” Bellatrix laughed, and pushed at Kate’s head.
Kate was almost tempted to make her wait. But that would require a hypocritical lecture on the necessity of patience, and really, the less talking, the better.
Another desperate kiss, then her lips moved to her chest, her stomach, and finally between her legs.
Bellatrix gasped, lifting her hips up and tilting her head back.
Kate shifted, her hands finding purchase on the other woman’s hips as her tongue delved deeper.
Relief and pleasure washed over Bella like waves. She squeezed her eyes shut, digging her fingers into Kate's hair, her other hand seeking the other woman's. She had forgotten how much she'd needed this.
She took her hand easily, sweeping her tongue over her once more before sliding back up her body with a satisfied grin.
“You’ve never done that before?” Bella asked, sounding amazed.
"Not while I was sober."
“Better when sober?” She pushed her self up a bit, leaning back into the rather decadant pillows on her bed and pulled Kate against her. For being a bit of a bitch (okay more than a bit) she did like to cuddle.
She’ll hex anyone who accuses her of that though.
She draped an arm across her stomach. "Mm. Much better."
Bellatrix smiled, and trailed her fingers up and down Kate's back. She turned her head, catching the woman's lips in another kiss.
