Who: Wrex and Kasumi What: Dealing with flying knifes. KROGER WITH A SHOTGUN When: A few nights ago Where: Kasumi's apartment Status: complete Rating: PG-13
Kasumi had calmed down considerably regarding the whole ‘pregnancy’ thing. Still, she knew she had to work at it to keep that calm. She’d been doing some yoga, meditating, and at present she was brewing some tea. The whole routine was relaxing. No instant gratification or noises. The tea was seeping in her teapot, and it gave her time to slow things down and stop rushing. She stretched, closing her eyes.
After a few minutes, she picked up the teapot to pour a cup. As she lifted it, though, the china exploded. Kasumi jumped back, dropping what was left of it as tea went everywhere. “What the--” She turned her head just as several of the drawers across the room opened. Several knives lifted up, hovering in the air.
Kasumi started moving before she even realized what was happening. She dashed out of the kitchen, rolling behind the other side of the counter. The knives flew across the room, several of them landing on the counter, or in the wall. She fumbled for the phone in her pocket, texting Wrex.
Kroger with a Shotgun should be a band name.
And that Kroger with a shotgun came into the apartment, looking around and ready to kick some ass and take some names. He nearly lost an eye as a knife flew at him, and ended up blasting a vase. Oops. He crawled for cover. "What the hell was that? Are you all right?"
"I don't know!" she said, reaching out to touch his knee. She thought it had nearly stopped, but apparently not. "I don't think I even own this many knives!"
There were a few shallow cuts on her face from the shards of china, but nothing serious. "I'm fine."
Wrex's hands glowed blue as he tried to use his growing biotic power to shield Kasumi, and push back at any remaining knives. He peeked up behind the counter, and could see knifes sticking all over, but no more floating.
He eyed the shotgun damage, then looked sheepish. "I think it's clear."
The tv turned on, static.
Breaking the vase didn't bother her. She didn't even realize she had a vase. There were bigger things going on right now. Like Wrex's biotics.. "Hey, uh. Nice shield."
Kasumi jumped when the TV turned on, startled. "What the fuck?" she swore, really not able to make sense of any of this.
“Thanks.” He lowered it as he turned to face the television. He walked over and turned it off. It turned right back on. Wrex turned it off again, and this time it stayed off. Except for the eerie singing of a little girl filling the living room.
Kasumi ran her hands over her head, trying to take a deep breath. This was seriously damaging the calm she had been working on. “I can’t do this. I have to get out of here.” She stood up cautiously, afraid the knives might start up again.
“Where do you want to go?” Wrex kicked the tv lightly, not wanting to break it, but hoping a fonzie would help make the singing stop. People still did that, right? Right. He remembered watching that show as a little kid. Which dates him a little bit, shh.
Kasumi shook her head a little, not sure. "Anywhere else. Your place? Joeyray's?" As long as there wasn't singing or knife throwing, she would be happy.
“Lets hit the bar. I could use a drink and we can pretend we’re pouring you something that’s not apple cider.” Wrex gave her a grin that was meant to be both reassuring and playful.
Kasumi nodded quickly, still wound up. She paused then, giving him a smile. "Yeah, sounds good." It was familiar enough, and she felt like she could relax there.
Wrex took Kasumi’s hand, and with one last suspicious look around the apartment, led her out. As he headed towards the car, the streetlights started to flicker, and then went out.
Kasumi's grip tightened on Wrex's hand. Normally, streetlights wouldn't get to her. Lightbulbs went out, it happened, whatever. But after what had happened inside, she was not okay with this nonsense. "Hang on."
She let go of Wrex and ducked back inside her apartment, grabbing her omni-tool before rejoining Wrex outside.
He eyed the lights as though he were trying to decide if shooting them would help. Really, except for his biotics ‘shooting it’ tended to be Wrex’s way of solving problems. Alternately, headbutts.
“This is messed up.” He said, gruffly.
Omni-tools probably weren't especially effective against ghosts, but it made Kasumi feel a little safer. "It really is," she agreed. She didn't even know where she wanted to be, now. She wanted to get away from everything. She leaned against Wrex, dropping her forehead to his chest. "Make it stop," she said, pouting.
“I don’t think I can, honey.” He rubbed at Kasumi’s back as he thought about the events. He thought he saw a girl out of the corner of his eye, and when he looked, she waved at them, before disappearing into thin air.
He exhaled out his nose. That almost looked like Alma, just much younger.
Kasumi raised a brow, lifting her head to look up at him. "Honey?" Okay, that was sufficiently odd to get her focus off the haunting.
"Let's go somewhere quiet," she said. "Somewhere without televisions. Or knives."
“Quiet sounds good,” Wrex said, though there was an undercurrent of suspicion in his tone. He shook his head to clear it, and looked at Kasumi. “Maybe a bar would be a bad idea, then.”
"You can swing by a liquor store and grab something to take with us. Bar is too much like work, anyway." That wasn't necessarily true, especially if Wrex was dancing on the bar. Still, she wasn't quite in the mood. She wasn't sure he was, either, but she couldn't place that tone. "Maybe that cabin?"
“...yeah cabin.. “ Wrex nodded his head. He started the car, which fortunately didn’t make any unusual noises, and drove them to the nearest liquor store. “What do you want?” He glanced at her and smirked. “Grey goose?”
Kasumi rolled her eyes, but she had to laugh. He was ridiculous. "You know it," she said, smirking.
