So you can keep me out as long as you want to.
Who: Kurt and Cadence
When: Backdated to 1/23
Where: Kurt’s place
What: Home-Made Dinner
Rating: Medium
Status: Complete!
Kurt had spent his one day off car shopping. He’d finally settled on an old Volvo that was clean looking, and ran, and didn’t appear to have any major problems. He intended to do some work on the engine, but otherwise, it was cheap and it would work. So, in his new car, he decided to see if he could find where Cadence’s sorority house was.
Cadence wasn’t expecting to be picked up. She was packing up the things she’d bought at the store to take to Kurt’s house to cook into a cotton, reusable shopping bag to take over to his house. The house was big, with a mess of cars in the driveway, and three large, Greek letters on the building. It wasn’t hard to find, and when his car pulled up every eye in the house turned to look out the window.
Cadence was busy, though, and didn’t notice when girls moved to the windows to check out the new car and the guy driving it.
Getting out of the car, Kurt smoothed down his hair. He had a sort of rugged look to him, since he hadn’t shaved (it hurt too much) and looked like he’d been in a fight. Some girls probably appreciated that.
Cadence did hear the gasps and the squeals. She pulled the bag over her shoulder and turned to look out the window and see what had them all excited. Her jaw dropped at the sight of Kurt coming out of his car. Car!
There were a bunch of “ooh!”s coming from all of her sorority sisters, and Cadence went rather red. It made the bruise on her face look even more purple. She started toward the front door, quickly, telling a couple of girls to leave him alone and stay inside. Get back to studying! This didn’t concern them! (Though, all of her sisters were more curious than anything else.)
She pulled open the door and smiled as she walked through it. She pulled it closed behind her, quickly.
There was a gaggle of them pressed against the window, and Kurt raised an eyebrow as he greeted Cadence, by taking her hand and kissing it. "Good afternoon. I hope I'm not interrupting anything important."
Another loud round of ‘ooh’s came from the house, followed by a burst of laughter. Cadence turned around and shot a glare at her sisters, but the damage was done. She was bright red, the bruise under her eye was a deep purple. She turned back to him giving a little sigh. “Nothing important, no. I was just packing to come to your place.” She said, lifting the bag on her shoulder a little. “I... we’re still on, right? I’ve got supplies to make you dinner.”
"Ja! I just vanted to see you something fierce. And show you my new car! Vell, used car, but I decided it vas more important to have transportation first, then a better place." He slipped an arm around her, studying her bruise with worry in his eyes.
A deeper flush crossed her features as he said he wanted to see her. Her heart started to thunder, as she was stepping with him toward the car. She could practically feel the whispers from the girls in the house as his arm wrapped around her. He made her feel safe, secure. Even though they’d been through something crazy together. Perhaps that only made her more secure?
“It’s a nice car.” She said, her smile brightening. She wondered for a moment if her late night call to him on her birthday was part of the reason he wanted transportation. Then she wondered if she was giving herself too much credit. “Are you going to take me for a joy ride?”
"Ja." He grinned at her. "It has cruise control!"
As if that was the most amazing thing ever about a car. Kurt opened the door for her, turning his head to kiss her non-bruised cheek.
A little laugh escaped her. She gave him a nod, leaning her cheek in so he could kiss it, and letting her face linger next to his for a moment. Then she cleared her throat and climbed into the car, tossing one last glance back at her sorority house.
About a dozen girls popped their heads out of the windows and pretended as if they hadn’t been watching.
“I think your friends are going to be giving you the first degree vhen I bring you back,” Kurt said, as he got into the car with her. He started the engine, checked his mirrors, and then started to drive.
German Engineering. You have to love it.
Cadence laughed softly. "Oh, you have no idea." She pulled her belt on, waved to the girls who were still watching, then folded her hands in her lap as they drove.
Kurt reached over, putting his hand over hers. He didn’t say anything that might bring attention to it. “How are you adjusting back to life in the house?”
He didn’t need to say anything to bring her attention to it. At the feel of his hand over hers, her heart started to thump loudly and quickly, making her temples throb just a little. “Life is good being surrounded by my sisters,” she said, giving him a smile. “They’re not quite as over-protective as my father is. And my curfew is different, too.”
"Vhat time do I need to get you back then? Before it vould be better to take my bed again." He glanced at her out of the corner of his eyes. There vas a twinkle in them.
“I don’t have a curfew in the house.” Cadence explained. “Not like at my father’s home. So you can keep me out as long as you want to.” She added, blushing just a little. “Only... no darkened alleyways.”
"Ja..another reason to get a car. Less dark alleyvays to get stuck in." He squeezed her hand, then started to stroke it with his thumb. "So I can keep you out as long as I vant to, liebchen? You vith those dangerous vords.."
Cadence turned her hand over in his, letting his thumb move wherever it wanted to, her fingertips exploring his. Slowly. Almost cautiously. “I mean it. I trust you.”
Kurt exhaled slowly, and nodded his head. “I hold that trust and I respect it. I vould not betray it on purpose. No matter how badly you send me spinning for loops.”
Cadence nodded. "I don't want to send you spinning, I..." she swallowed. "I threw myself at you, and you were so gentle and kind. A weaker man would have taken advantage." She wasn't looking at him, but was staring, embarrassed, down into her lap at their hands. "I want you to know how much it means to me."
“Spinning is gutt, liebchen. I haven’t felt this vay for someone in a very long time. I von’t deny that I vant you.” He glanced at her as the pulled up to a red light. “But I vould never have done anything that you veren’t fully avare ve vere doing.”
The flush spread across her face again and something twisted deep in her tummy. Her pelvis, really. She took his hand in hers and laced their fingers together. As much as she liked him, and she liked spending time with him and whatever it was they were doing, that girl part of her was nagging for confirmation that they were... whatever they were. She wasn’t going to push, though. She didn’t know where she was in her own life, let alone where she wanted to be in someone else’s.
“Thank you.” She said, softly. “I’m not sure how... I’m not sure where my boundaries are anymore.” She confessed, feeling emotion well up within her. It was emotion that had little to do with Kurt and a lot to do with God.
He lifted her hand to his mouth and kissed it, then lowered it back down. “Vhy don’t ve figure that out together ja? I’d like to see vhere this leads.”
Cadence nodded. “Okay.” She couldn’t stop smiling now, smiling in anticipation. She wrapped his hand in both of hers in her lap, holding it there, wondering if he could feel her pulse through her palm. How fast it was beating.
“Starting with dinner tonight. I hope you like spicy.”
He could feel it, and it made his own pulse spike. He hadn’t wanted a woman like this in so long he’d almost forgotten what it had felt like. He’d had woman, just...this was different. This was special. She was special.
“I do like a little kick.”
“Good. I’m going to make you one of my father’s favorites. Fish Tacos.” They had a little kick. She could tone it up or down, too, depending on how much spice he liked. “And you’ll have leftovers for lunch tomorrow.”
Kurt laughed. He’d never known that Fish Tacos were an actual thing. A lot of the other sailors had joked about such things.
“I could use the leftovers. It’s very hard work at the varehouse. The more energy I have the better.”
Cadence grinned. "Well I can't promise you extra energy. Or a good night's sleep. But I can promise good food." She squeezed his hand.
“You can’t promise me good night’s sleep?” Kurt replied, raising his eyebrows and giving her a devilish smile. “Vhy Cadence, you’re a tease.”
Cadence went pink. Very pink. She laughed, embarrassed. "That's not what I meant!" She said, shaking her head. "I meant. .. Oh heck."
"Ja? Vhat did you mean?" Kurt pulled up to another light and turned to face her a bit, eyes lit up with mischeviousness.
"It's just... That's not the kind of thing I can control," Cadence said, still blushing furiously.
He said nothing, merely tilted his head curiously.
"Shh." Cadence responded, tearing her eyes away from his face to look out the window. She was trying to will her face to go less red. "I mean... You're trying to make this sexual, and it's absolutely not." Why couldn't she stop grinning? It made her words sound less serious.
“Me? Trying to make this sexual? Vhereever did you get that impression, liebchen?” He was feigning innocence, but it was the truth. Nothing he’d said had outright implied sex.
“Just... ugh, you’re so... frustrating.” She said, turning back to him with the grin on her face. Her fingertips ran over his knuckles, her hand still wrapped up in hers in his lap. “Obvious, too.”
“Just very much enthralled by you.” He squeezed her hand, feeling an irresistible urge to make out with her like a teenager in the back seat. He snorted at himself.
“What?” Cadence asked, grinning at the snort. “What is it?”
“You don’t vant to know. Just vhat ve could get up to in the back seat of a Volvo.”
“No? I don’t want to know, or you don’t want to tell me?” Cadence asked, smiling softly. “Give me a clue.” She added, then paused. “It’s green.” She added, pointing up at the light through the front window.
Kurt laughed, and hit the gas as a large truck spread through the red light. The Volvo jerked to a stop as he slammed on the break, narrowly avoiding being smashed into little bits of metal.
Cadence gave a shriek, throwing both hands up in front of her as they screeched to a halt in the intersection. She was gasping and breathing hard. Her hand slowly lowered to rest against her chest.
Kurt drove through the intersection and then pulled into a parking lot. He shut the car down and put his arm around Cadence, pulling her close. “Are you all right?”
“Yes,” Cadence said. Her heart was still thundering. She leaned in against him and closed her eyes, trying to catch her breath. “Why is it that whenever I’m with you, you give my heart a work out?”
“I don’t know,” Kurt replied, his voice quiet and strained. He hadn’t been expecting that - who could have? His own heart was pounding, and he pulled her harder against him.
“Hey...” Now Cadence realized how upset he was. Her own fear melted whens he realized that he was so upset. She went into comforting mode instead of comforted mode. “Are you okay?” She asked, lifting a hand to run her fingertips down his face, then moved her hand around to run it over his hair, hugging him tightly against her again. “It’s okay. We’re okay.”
“I’m fine. I’m fine. Are you fine?” It had been an accident that had taken Amanda from him. Usually he could handle the thought. He’d moved on, for the most part, but that had been an uncomfortable reminder. Or perhaps a warning that he should call it off with her. Whatever this ‘it’ was.
“Of course.” Cadence was more concerned about him than about herself. “It was just... a fright. Just a fright.” She repeated, running her hand over his hair again. “Are you okay to drive? Do you need a few minutes?”
“A minute or two vould be good, ja.” And maybe a drink when he got home. A nice long one.
Cadence nodded. She pulled back just a little to give him some air. Her own heart was slowing down to its normal pace as she leaned back in her chair.
Kurt closed his eyes, willing his body to settle down from the adrenaline rush. He didn’t know if he was hungry, or ill now. He thunked his head against his seat, several times. “I should have looked more carefully.”
“I had you distracted. I’m sorry.” Cadence reached for his hand again, wondering why he was taking this so hard. She’d been startled, sure. But he was taking it really hard. Her brow furrowed. “We should get you home. It’s not too much further.”
“Ja..” He wisely nodded his head, and started the car again. He headed back to his apartment, not caring how cheap it looked right now.
Cadence made sure not to distract him the rest of the way. She kept her eyes out the window, her heart thumping a little more quickly than normal, but much more calmly now. When they arrived, she climbed out and lugged up her bag of groceries to head inside and make him a tasty meal.
Kurt went into the bathroom to wash his hands, and get a few moments to compose himself. He hadn’t lost it at least, but he could sense she was concerned. It made him feel terrible. She should be more concerned about herself!
Cadence moved into his place and straight to the kitchen. While he was in the bathroom collecting himself, she focused her pent-up energies on the food she was going to prepare tonight. She set up the pans and cutting boards that she needed, and started cooking. It wasn’t going to take her long to season and fry the fish, chop the vegetables, prepare the taco shells... she could even throw together a salsa to eat with some chips.
She dug around his kitchen, half being nosy and half really searching for bowls, knives, and other things she needed to prepare the meal.
Kurt took his time, and when he finally emerged he seemed a lot more composed and a lot more himself. He could smell the food, and it put a hunger in his belly that chased away the nausea.
“That smells vonderful already! Is there anything I can do to help?”
“You can wash those tomatoes.” Cadence said, pointing with her knife at the basket of tomatoes that she’d brought along with her. She was cutting up some onions to put in the tacos with the fish. It was almost finished frying. “Small dice, for the salsa?”
“Yes ma’am!” He started washing the tomatoes. “Are these a fruit, or a vegetable?” Once they were clean, Kurt brought them over to the cutting board and started to dice them. And failed miserably at it.
"Fruit." Cadence said decisively. "Botanically, anyway. According to the government they're a vegetable." She watched him cutting them up and laughed softly. "Here," she came over to show him some tips. "Do it like this so you don't chop any more fingers off." She teased.
“I don’t think ve vant to trust the government to classify these sorts of things.” Kurt chuckled, and followed her instructions. He liked the way her hands felt on his. He especially liked that she wasn’t grossed out by his finger.
When you had ten brothers, and literally dozens of nieces nephews and cousins, you were bound to come across some strange injuries and birth defects. Cadence didn’t have a problem with his injury. It made him who he was. She loved it about him. Her hands moved away from his and she stepped over to turn off the burner under the fish. She was still frying the taco shells, though. “The government tries to classify everything. I think they just wanted more tax money, and they could tax vegetables at a higher rate than fruits.”
“Probably.” Kurt finished what he was doing, and walked up behind Cadence, sliding his arms around her waist, and nuzzling the back of her neck. He felt much calmer now.
Slicing up things seemed to help.
Cadence couldn’t help it. She leaned back against him a little and closed her eyes for a moment. Being in his arms felt amazing. Better than she’d ever felt with a man before. “It’s almost finished,” she said, trying her best to pull herself out of her comfort. She didn’t want to overcook the taco shells.
“Then I shall leave you to your preparations,” Kurt replied, kissing the back of her ear and then pulling away. He really just wanted to hold her. Forever.
Cadence suddenly felt cold when he withdrew. She frowned a little, but didn’t want to seem clingy by pulling him back. She finished up quickly, then set the food on the table before hopping back into the kitchen to wash dishes. “You sit, I’ll be done with this in a minute.” She turned the hot water on. “Or you could grab a couple of drinks first.”
“Vhat vould you like? I have vater, beer, and cola.” Kurt opened the fridge to peer in. He grabbed a water bottle for himself, then thought better of it and grabbed the beer. One wouldn’t hurt and he needed it, damn it.
“I’ll have whatever you’re having.” She said, wiping the pan under the water. It was fairly easy to clean up after this meal. One frying pan, one cutting board, and a handful of bowls. Hopefully he had tupperware for the leftovers.
Kurt put a beer in front if Cadence's seat, then sat down himself, opening his beer and taking a swig. It wasn't his favorite, but it would do.
It only took her another moment to finish up the dishes, then come to the table, wiping her hands. She sat in her chair, folded her hands and bowed her head, then paused for a moment.
No. She wasn’t going to pray. An awkward moment of confusion passed. Cadence lifted her head to look over at him. “...go ahead. I hope you like it.”
Kurt gave her a worried look, then dug in. It was the best meal he'd had in years and that wasn’t an exaggeration. Meals on ship were hearty, but they weren’t like this. And home cooked was better than a restaurant by far.
Cadence tucked in. It was pretty good, actually. Growing up with the “Taco King” as your father meant that you picked up a few tips and hints in the kitchen. She could make the world’s best chocolate cake for dessert if she’d thought about it. “Damn,” she said aloud.
“Damn?” He asked, the taco half-way to his mouth. “Did you forget something?”
“Damn?” She responded. She hadn’t realized she’d said it out loud. Her face fell just a little. “Oh. I was going to make you dessert, but I forgot to pick up some things at the store.”
“That just means ve have the perfect excuse to not bring you home yet,” Kurt pointed out. He wanted to lick chocolate fudge off of her fingers, and her cheeks. And other places but he took those thoughts and locked them up.
Cadence gave a little chuckle. “All right. Finish dinner, and we’ll tidy a bit, then we can pop to the store, and...” She didn’t want to make him drive again, though. And her car was back at the house. It wasn’t exactly the best neighborhood in the world, but, “...can we walk somewhere to get flour, sugar, chocolate, eggs, that sort of thing?”
“There’s a market down the street and around the corner. It should be safe.” He couldn’t read her mind but he understood her fear. They both still had bruises from that. He’d bought some things to help in the event he was jumped again. A baton, as well as brass knuckles.
“Okay.” Cadence said, smiling. “After we tidy this up, we can go for a little walk, buy some supplies, then I’ll bake for you.” Granted, the cake wouldn’t be done for an hour, then she needed time to let it cool and frost it... she’d be there pretty late.
Kurt held up a hand. “I must finish first!” And he did, two whole tacos. There were still plenty of leftovers - he’d be bringing them to work for a week. He didn’t look forward to the inevitable ribbing and fish taco jokes. But it was worth it.
“Please!” Cadence laughed. “I didn’t mean right this second!” She added, playfully. She ate a little more, but not as much as he did. She was grinning the whole time, though, watching him enjoy his food. It felt good to know that someone was enjoying her hard work. No wonder her father liked it so much. Cooking for people. She leaned back in her chair and drank her beer. It made her feel all light-headed.
“Ah, but cake is vorth the rush.” He gave her a playful wink, and finished his beer. “Just put the plates in the dishvasher, ja? Dishwashers and paper plates are a bachelor’s holy grail.”
Cadence nodded, grinning, then pulled herself up to her feet. One beer was enough to make her feel a little tipsy. She wasn’t quite used to it. She collected the dishes, humming to herself, and moved to the kitchen to pop them into the dishwasher. “Please tell me you have tupperwares.”
"Ah. Of course I have tupperwares. Vhat kind of bachelor vould I be?" He came up behind Cadence again, unable to help himself. He hugged her, and kissed the back of her shoulder.
She couldn’t stop herself from leaning back against him, enjoying the warmth of his embrace. He made her think naughty things, he made her body respond in ways it’d never done before.
She made him respond in ways he hadn’t in so long, he didn’t want to think about it. He turned her around in his arms, and cupped her face. Kurt kissed Cadence, slowly and gently at first, then deepened it.
So... no dessert? Cadence felt her hands move around his waist, her mouth tipping up to meet his kiss. Tender at first, but her hunger mounted. She let it deepen, pulling him in against her.
Dessert could wait.
A groan escaped his throat as Cadence kissed him back. He pressed against her, and pressing her against the counter. Kurt couldn’t stop his hands from moving down her sides to her waist and her legs.
One of her hands lifted from where it was wrapped around his middle to cup the side of his neck. She pulled him in closer even as he pinned her to the counter. Her heart was thundering now, and her body doing that thing that it did so readily when she was with him. She’d never really understood lust until she meet him. And now he brought it out in her. Very much.
This was a lot better than Cadence being drunk. She was warm, and inviting and tore his breath away. He lifted her up onto the counter. The passion of his kiss and the way his fingers dug into her hips were the biggest signs of how she drove him mad.
It was as if her body knew what to do without her brain having to tell it how to act. She moved with him, letting him lift her up onto the countertop, then wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him with even more hunger than before. One of her legs wrapped around his backside, pulling him in against her between her knees.
Kurt groaned into Cadence's mouth, jerking against her with his hips, his vision growing foggy. He brought his right hand up, rubbing it over her breast, and then cupping her cheek. She was beautiful, and wonderful and perfect and he wanted her.
Cadence could feel it growing inside her. The insatiable need for him, unlike anything she’d ever felt before. It tightened deep within her pelvis, and made her breath hitch and body tingle at his touch. She moaned against his mouth as he cupped her breast, one of her hands lifting to tangle in his hair.
His hand went back down, cupping her breast and squeezing it this time, as if the first time had been asking permission. Kurt squeezed again, kissing hotter and needier, as if he were trying to devour her burn her all at once.
Cadence had to tear her lips away from his so she could breathe, a gasp escaping her at the feel of his hands on her body. He made her want to do bad things. Suddenly, she wanted his bare skin against hers. She knew she shouldn’t, knew that this was going against all she’d worked for. It wasn’t easy having such strong faith, keeping herself pure. “Kurt...” she breathed, torn between wanting so much more and knowing they should stop.
“Cadence?” He asked, his lips moving along her jaw until they reached her ear. He blew into it, then nibbled at her earlobe. He wasn’t too far gone, but he did seem to hesitate.
“...we should... calm down...” She said. All the above-the-waist stuff was great, but he made her so crazy. She wasn’t sure she trusted herself to keep going. “...so I can make you dessert...” she added, breathing hard at his attentions. Goosebumps were rising along her arms from the feel of his lips on her earlobe.
"Ja...." Kurt's hands disobeyed some basic commands, rubbing up and down Cadence a few more times before he tore himself from her arms. He wanted to open the fridge and crawl in.
Cadence was trying to catch her breath, bringing her own hands to her thighs to run her hands up and down her jeans over her knees. They were sweaty and shaking a bit. “...I should... um... can I use your bathroom?” She added, jumping down off the counter.
“Ja, you know vhere it is.” He waited for her to leave the kitchen, then opened the freezer and stuck his head in. He closed his eyes and exhaled deeply. He felt like he was pushing her, and scolded himself.
Cadence had to take a breather. She moved into the bathroom to use the toilet, but spent a long time in there, longer than necessary. She sat for a couple of moments on the toilet after closing the lid. Her body was still humming, still aching for more. She moved to the sink and washed her hands, then stared at herself in the mirror and took long, deep breaths. She was very confused, very unsure. There was a part of her that wanted to throw caution to the wind and go back in to Kurt, offering herself up to him. At the same time, she couldn’t. She just couldn’t.
She came out of the bathroom a couple of minutes later. “Ready?” She asked aloud, poking her head into the kitchen.
Kurt had guzzled an entire bottle of cold water, and looked remarkably refreshed and ready to go, even if he’d had to will his body to obey him. There wasn’t any time or opportunity to take care of matters, after all.
He gave her a smile. “Ja, ready!”
Cadence returned his smile and held her hand out to him for him to take. She wanted him by her side, hopefully to protect her from whatever might be out there. “Flour, sugar, eggs, milk, chocolate, butter... I’m assuming you have salt?” She said, going through her shopping list aloud.
Kurt wasn’t sure he could touch her, but he took her hand anyway, the skin contact sending shocks up his arm. ‘I have flour and salt, but I’m low on butter, eggs and milk.”
“And chocolate.” Cadence said, giving his hand a squeeze. She turned her hand in his and laced their fingers together. “Can’t forget the chocolate if we’re making chocolate cake.” She walked with him out of his place and let him lead the way to the market.
“Vell, I had none to begin vith!” He followed her, slipping his baton into a pocket. He wouldn’t let anything else happen to her on his watch. You couldn’t count on random Shadowcats showing up, after all.
“True. Sorry. I don’t know if people keep chocolate in their houses the way my dad does.” She said, softly. “Then again, he’s got a bit of a sweet tooth, and I’m always happy to indulge him.”
“Does he have any teeth left?” Kurt took her hand and squeezed her fingers in his as they walked, happy to be able to show off such a wonderful woman. His frustrations were forgotten.
“Yes.” Cadence said. “He brushes twice a day. You should see his tummy, though.” She said, holding her free hand out in front of her like she had a pregnant belly.
Laughing, Kurt let go of Cadence’s hand, and put his arms around her shoulders. He leaned in and kissed her cheeks, ignoring an ‘awww’ from a passing woman.
Cadence wasn’t sure what he was doing when he stopped them walking and wrapped his arms around her. But she was grinning softly at the kisses to her cheeks, completely ignoring the passer-by, and then stole a kiss from his lips, too. A brief one.
"The shop is right here," Kurt explained, after he snuck another kiss. "Ve should go in." And then another kiss.
“Mmm.” Cadence responded, nodding, then kissed him again. “We should.” Another kiss. “People might start to stare.” Yet another. She felt like a teenager, like a honeymooner. But she didn’t care what anyone else thought.
Laughing, Kurt pulled away, and guided her into the store. He didn't want to leave her alone outside. It was stupid and silly, but he was paranoid. "Vhat do ve need again?"
“Chocolate, eggs, milk, butter... do you have any vanilla?” She asked, pulling away, too, and turning to head into the shop. “That would be nice. Chocolate chips?”
"Lets get some vanilla just in case. Or everything. Nien, I don't have chocolate chips." Kurt glanced at some flowers on a rack when her back was turned, and got a thoughtful look on his face. Ja, he would have to do that.
Cadence gave a little nod, picking up a small basket to hook on her arm. They moved through the shop together, collecting eggs, butter, milk, chocolate, chocolate chips and vanilla. She was paying more attention to the shopping than to him, and didn’t notice what he was looking at. She was hoping that she could remember the brownie recipe from scratch.
She carried her purchases up to the front counter to pay.
Kurt gave her some money to help with the ingredients, and managed to sneak a purchase of some roses through. He hid them wrapped in a bag, and walked outside with her, looking incredibly pleased with himself.
Cadence was focused on the recipe as they paid, and missed his purchase. She led the way out of the store, carrying her bag. “I think I can do it.” She said, reaching for his hand. “Gosh, I hope it’s gonna be edible. Should only take about forty minutes to bake.”
"We'll think of something to do to pass the time," He replied, taking her hand and pressing the flowers into her hand. Then he kissed her face.
Cadence gasped at the flowers and looked up at him, astonished. “How did you...” He was stealthy, that’s for sure. She stepped up and in and kissed his lips, for a moment forgetting the world except for him.
Kurt laughed against her, then let out a little man purr, pulling Cadence against him, careful of the eggs. He let the kiss deepen further.
Cadence would have responded in kind, only a couple of teenage boys hanging around the entrance to the shop whistled, laughed and shouted for them to “get a room.” She pulled away, blushing furiously.
Groaning, Kurt shot them a dirty look, then took Cadence’s hand and started to walk with her back to his place. He didn’t mind the time it would take to bake. He got to keep her with him for longer.
Cadence followed along behind him, one hand holding his and the other holding the bag of groceries and her flowers. She brought them up to bury her face in the roses. They smelled wonderful, and the petals were soft against her cheeks. It was a short walk back, as they seemed to be taking it at twice the speed. Once they were inside, she set the things down on the table and pulled him in to kiss him again. Hey, they were in a room now, right?
Kurt put his own bags down, just in time to catch Cadence in his arms as she pushed him back against the wall. He kissed her back, hungry and loving and full of need. Kurt's hands slid down her back, and squeezed at her butt.
Cadence didn’t know what she was doing. She wasn’t sure where this was going, or where she wanted it to go. She didn’t realize that she was probably driving Kurt crazy, and if she’d known she would have stopped. But she couldn’t keep her hands off of him. She gave a little, muffled sound at his hands on her backside, but it only egged her own. She kissed him harder, wrapping her arms up and around his neck.
Her arms around her neck was actually a relief. It was still driving him crazy, but it was a lesser sort of crazy and one that he could easily deal with. That she didn't stop him made him feel bold, and he squeezed harder, massaging, and nibbling at her lip. His body molded against hers.
Hot. It was absolutely hot. Cadence was hot for him, she knew it, but the question was how far she’d let this go. And the answer was not very far. The poor thing was so confused in her heart, so confused in her head, she didn’t know what she wanted. All she knew was that he made her feel good. And she wanted to feel good.
It was Kurt that ended the kiss and the groping, and gently extricated them apart. He kissed her nose. “Lets see about baking that cake, ja?”
Cadence nodded, trying to catch up with her breath and her thoughts. Her mind was fuzzy and her body humming. “Right. Cake.” She straightened her shirt as she picked up the groceries and headed into the kitchen to bake.
Kurt watched her go, and then thunked his head against the wall.
