"The laws of nature are often simple guidelines
Who: Gandalf and Thor
Where:The street
When: The night after Thor's first dream
What: Meetings and talking
Night had fallen by the time Gandalf had made it back to town again. He'd needed to restock on his weed supply. Commune a bit. Play with dangerous explosives and fire and get that out of his system before he actually got someone hurt.
Thor had once again had the misfortune of getting the worst possible parking spot in Southern California, which meant a hike back to the carpark. He had to stop having this sort of luck, he decided, ruefully, as he walked along, purse messenger bag over his shoulder.
That was a very large man with a purse, Gandalf mused, taking a long drag from a joint. Broad shouldered and blonde, he was either gay or a surfer. Either way he might make a sale, and the man looked like he might have an interesting story to tell. He shuffled over, "Good evening, my good man."
Hippie who smelled faintly of pot. Interesting. Thor wasn't really one to do the whole getting high thing himself, but hey, people who were actually nice to you were worth getting to know so he gave the guy a welcoming smile. "Hey." he said with a little nod.
"And might I inquire as to where you are headed?" He leaned on his walking stick, trying to gauge where the man stood. He seemed to have a good soul.
"Carpark." Thor explained, making a little face. "Little bit of a hike there, but it's probably my fault for being too impatient to wait for somebody to leave." he grinned.
"A little walk never hurt anyone," Gandalf replied, as though he were used to long walks to Mordor. "Its good for the heart and lungs."
True, true." Thor agreed, "Well, if not for the smog. Which I can try not to contribute too as much as I can. That and this way road rage doesn't happen." Road rage was a huge pain. Really, it'd be easier if there were some better way to travel. Flying horses or something.
"Ah, road rage, quite the bane of inner peace." Gandalf leaned forward, taking a long drag from a joint he produced from seemingly nowhere, "I've a secret, my friend. Buckle up, its the law."
"I'll keep that in mind." Thor agreed nodding. "Better that than the alternative." Tickets were always a pain and then his brother probably would just laugh at him. "Better safe than sorry, right?"
Gandalf offered Thor a joint, "No charge." He winked. He'd gotten Sansa that way. Not in THAT way. Part of him WISHED but that part of him needed to stay in the 70s.
Oh no thanks." Thor assured him with a little grin. "Not exactly my thing." Thor seemed to be having enough issues with reality these days. He didn't mind the issues with reality, really, but if he let it get too far out of hand, he'd didn't exactly know what he'd end up doing.
"Not a problem." The joint disappeared somewhere on Gandalf's person, "Do you mind if I continue?"
"Go for it." Thor told him, never really one to judge what other people were doing. Well, unless they were doing something stupid with a horse and then he'd snicker to himself, but that was about it.
Gandalf laughed deeply, and took another puff, "You look like a man with something on his mind."
"Maybe a bit." Thor admitted, eyes darting a little. "Crazy as it sounds, the something on my mind is actually a dream. A vivid one, but still, a dream. In which the laws of nature don't seem to apply."
"The laws of nature are often simple guidelines," Gandalf replied, cryptically. "And dreams are by their very nature doorways to other worlds."
"Doorways to other worlds, yes." Thor nodded seriously. "It felt as though it were another world. One where I BELONGED but...I don't know. It's disjointed, I'm sorry."
"That's quite allright," The hippie said, knowingly. "It'll come to you in time." He walked in silence for awhile after that, as though mulling over things, himself.
Abruptly, Gandalf said, "I should go. And you have much to think about."
"I do." Thor agreed with a nod. "Maybe when I've thought about it, I'll find you again and tell you what I come up with."
"Oh I am sure I will be around." Gandalf chuckled, and then walked off, stroking his beard.
