Loras could feel the fever burning against him as they walked. A worried expression coloured his face as he eased himself to his knees and looked down at the man he loved and thought he'd never see again. Tears formed in his eyes, and he let them fall, pressing hair away from Renly's feverish brow.
It didn't occur to him what Renly was talking about. He thought it was the fever and he shook his head. "Just rest," he insisted, then made himself leave Renly's side for just a moment to get a towel from his bag. He went to Renly's kitchen and packed a plastic bag with ice, then wrapped it in the towel, just like he'd done for himself over and over again whenever he was injured in a fight. When he came back to Renly, he pressed the makeshift ice pack to Renly's forehead.
