Who: Pansy Malfoy, Peter Parker, and Draco Malfoy
When: Friday night BEFORE Pansy and Katniss were attacked
Where: Starting at the Malfoy house
What: Meeting the boyfriend(?) and Celebrating Pansy’s hard-earned A in Bio
Rating: Low
Status: Complete!
Pansy was nervous. Peter was set to show up any minute. Mom and Dad were out, so they wouldn’t be showing up. Just having Peter meet Draco was nerve-wracking enough. She was pacing in the living room, glancing at the clock every couple of minutes. She’d donned one of her old t-shirts and a pair of ripped up jeans, a very casual look with no shoes or socks. She had flip flops or boots by the front door for when she needed them.
The clock chimed, surprisingly catching Pansy off-guard. She spun around at looked to it, breaking into a grin at the hands pointing to the six and the twelve. It was time, and she knew Peter was punctual.
Punctual Pete was a nickname one could call him, and one Peter hoped would never, ever be called to him. Still, he was in fact very punctual. As the car pulled to a stop in front of her place, he swallowed and realized at that moment how nervous he was all of a sudden. He’d just gotten comfortable with her, and being with her, and all of that; now he was throwing in meeting her brother, someone he would likely be fine with meeting, but the circumstances could mean death to Peter.
Never the less, Pete was there. Stepping out of the car, dressed in a red t-shirt, underneath a blue polo, Peter began to make his way towards the door, and swallowed as he approached it. Coming to a complete stop, he began to rub at the back of his neck, and then finally reached up to knock on the door. Stepping back, he began to look himself over and wondered if since it was a celebration and he was meeting her brother... should he have dressed up more? Damn it, he probably should have.
Yet he didn’t want to be too dressed up and the only person there that was, because then he’d look like an ass. God damn it, why did he do this to himself. Plus, it was also his first time actually seeing Pansy since meeting Thor, and he still couldn’t exactly get it out of his head that she might want Thor over him.
Pansy moved to the front door at the sound of the knock. She was giddy with excitement, and a bit of nerves curling in the pit of her stomach. After pulling the door open and seeing that it was, indeed, Peter on the other side (who she affectionately referred to as “Mr. Chemistry” and not “Punctual Pete”) she stepped forward, wrapped her arms up and around him, and kissed him soundly on the mouth.
He grinned when the door opened and was pleased that it was her first; that helped quell his nerves a bit and was more than pleased when she moved to put her arms around him. He returned the sentiment, kissing her back with his own arms moving around her waist in a tight embrace. He then pulled back before raising a brow, “So you got an A on your biology test. And you used recreational sex to get it, I feel like I have to read this paper now.”
Another chuckle, followed by a quick kiss to her lips before raising a brow, “Mmm, did he leave any interesting comments on that essay?”
“Surprisingly not,” Pansy replied, grinning up at him. “I was half expecting there to be some sort of crude invitation scribbled in the margins,” she teased, then stole one last kiss from his lips before pulling out of his arms and taking hold of one of his hands. “I know you think I’m some sort of super girl-nerd, or something, but I really couldn’t have done it without your help,” she said, giving him a gentle tug into the house with his hand in hers.
He followed after her with the tug to his hands, and shrugged his shoulders, “I just helped a little. It’s all in you, you know; you still had to get it, even with me tutoring you. Some people just need it explained differently, that’s all. It’s all you, and therefore this celebration is for you.”
He grinned still, and looked around her house as he followed her in. Glad to have his hand in hers, figuring it gave him a better sense of confidence in all of this; Peter didn’t do well with confrontation, so he was really hoping her brother wasn’t very confrontational. He didn’t assume he would be, but the possibility was still there, and that was frightening to think about.
Lacing fingers about with hers, he moved with her and then looked down to her, “So are you going to let me check out this paper? This man might have been swayed by your persuasive beauty, and seductive writing. I have to make sure it’s up to par, because obviously I’m immune to such things.”
Which was a total lie, if the other night had anything to say about it.
Draco heard Peter’s last statement and laughed softly, “Yeah the display when you walked in looked like you were very immune” he told Peter, though he was grinning to let him know it was meant lightheartedly. He wasn’t about to ruin things for Pansy when she’d already told him how much she liked this one.
“Peter right?” he said, holding out his hand, “I’m Draco, the protective brother” he added for good measure.
Pansy nearly jumped at the sound of her brother’s voice coming from behind her. She turned and gave him a smile, letting go of Peter’s hand only so he could shake Draco’s. “Right, introductions. Though, you’ve got that handled for me.” She gave her brother a smirk.
It would be instantly obvious to Peter that Draco and Pansy were as different as night and day. Draco was much paler, with white-blond hair and light eyes. Pansy’s skin was far more tan, and she was brunette with brown eyes. Their body shapes were different, too, Pansy was way curvy and Draco not as much. They didn’t look anything like siblings, especially not like twins.
“Peter, Draco, Draco, Peter,” she added just for good measure.
Peter was rather startled by the voice himself, and immediately was wondering just what Draco had heard prior to entering, and the words Draco used convinced Peter he’d heard enough to make Peter groan inward. Great, starting off just spectacular, Parker. Still, Draco seemed friendly enough, and once his hand was freed from Pansy’s, he reached forward and met Draco’s hand, shaking it with a smile.
“Yea, Peter. And pleasure to meet you Draco, I’ve heard quite a bit about you. All good things I assure you,” he smirked and then dropped his hand as he noted the lack of similarities between two twins. That was rather odd; although, depending on what her mother and father looked like, it could definitely sense. Anomalies between siblings weren’t exactly unheard of, and scientifically speaking, it was plausible to happen even between twins; however, to have so little similarities was a bit of an oddity itself. Still, it wasn’t unbelievable, and so he let it go.
“Still, uh, good to meet you. Glad we could meet under circumstances of Pansy’s A too, even better,” smirking to Pansy, “Even if you stooped to flirting with your professor to get it.” He quipped.
Draco wasn’t as bothered by the lack of similarity between them as Pansy was, simple fact was she was his sister and nothing would change that. Draco liked dealing in black and white he wasn’t much of a grey area person. At least not about stuff like that.
“See that’s my theory too” he chuckled, “I’m sure you’re a good study aid but there’s gotta be something dodgy going on for Pans to suddenly be a biology whiz” he agreed teasing his sister.
Pansy shook her head, smirking. “Don’t look too hard into it, Bro.” She said. She reached over to nudge him with her elbow. “So, where are we going to celebrate? Any ideas? I was thinking somewhere with good food, good drinks, and lots of dancing.” She beamed. “Or... bowling? I could do bowling. Greasy food and beers. Actually, that sounds best.”
“I like the idea of greasy food and beers, but dancing is always good too,” he grinned, “But of course, considering I can’t dance to save my life, it’s probably best for my masculinity, and any hope we have at establishing a true relationship. Because I don’t know if I really want you to see that, at all.”
He laughed before looking between the two, shrugging, “It’s up to you guys of course, but I’d suggest bowling, because although my bowling skills are definitely comparable to my dancing skills. But I think gutter balls are sexy, so I’m good with that.”
Then slid his hands into the pockets of his jeans, watching the duo. Glad that Draco didn’t seem to be the ‘I’ll kill you if you hurt her’ type of brothers; because, while he wasn’t ever going to hurt her. The fear of an overprotective brother was a real one.
Draco grinned as Pansy nudged him, shrugged easily as they tried to decide what to do, “Bowling is good with me” he replied, “If you still want dancing after that we can always head somewhere else” he suggested.
It wasn’t that Draco didn’t intend to have a few words with Peter but he wasn’t planning on doing it in front of Pansy, he was happy to bide his time until the opportunity arose.
Pansy gave a bright grin. “Bowling it is, then! I’ll just go grab my socks.” Flip Flops would absolutely do on the way to the bowling alley, but once she was there she’d need some sock to wear inside the bowling shoes. She gave Peter a grin, then clapped Draco on the shoulder as she moved to the stairs and jogged up them quickly, headed for her room.
Blinked when Pansy took off, and smiled before looking towards Draco. Shrugging he then raised a brow, “So, uh, you in college too like her? Community or University?” He figured, just looking around the place, these two didn’t need college to have success in life; still, it was a decent enough conversation starter, and would let Peter get an idea on who Draco was. He was still trying to grasp onto the fact he was standing in the living room of the girl he’d only been on two dates with, and was meeting her brother.
He knew for a fact he was likely going to get some sort of lecture; still, the fact that it hadn’t turned into an intimidation party yet was a semi-good scene.
Draco threw her a grin as she clapped him on the shoulder when she passed, she was practically giving him permission to do the brother speechless. At least that’s what he read into the gesture anyway. “College, same one as Pans” Draco confirmed answering Peter’s question, “Nothing quite so brainy as her though, I’m studying music; practical and theory”
He glanced behind him to make sure Pansy had actually made it upstairs before levelling his gaze on Peter, “So, I’m not gonna do the whole heavy ‘hurt her and I’ll kill you’ thing, you seem intelligent enough to know thats what would happen anyway” Draco hoped he was that intelligent anyway, “I just wanna know you’re on the level yeah? That you aren’t gonna mess her around”
Peter blinked when Draco looked at him, and sighed--well here it came. Perhaps not in so many words, when it came down to it; still, the sentiment was still there and he raised a brow looking towards Draco. He held his hands up to insinuate surrender, and shook his head, “I’m not going to hurt her, at least not intentionally Draco. All I care about is being with her, and moving forward in that, and whatever that means. Mistakes might happen, who knows, god knows I’m good at those in all aspects of life, but I’ll never mess around on her. I’ll never lead her on with no thought of moving on. I won’t treat her badly, I’ll treat her like a princess as far as I can. I promise, bottom of my heart; nothing short of the closest thing to perfection I can provide her.”
He smirked as best he could, figuring that it might not be good enough. He probably wanted to hear that he’d never make a mistake, but Peter knew he had some pretty bad luck on occasion. And didn’t always have the best judgment when it came to girls: not sleeping around, obviously, that wasn’t him. That wasn’t going to be a problem. But saying something, or doing something he thinks is good but pisses her off? Sure, that’s a Peter Parker thing.
“I assure you Draco, I’m in this for the long haul--so long as she is, so long as the road allows for the long haul.”
Draco loved his sister sure but he wasn’t stupid enough to expect Peter to promise something he obviously wouldn’t be able to provide. Pansy, great as she was, could be a pain in the ass so there would be times when they argued but he was pretty sure Peter could handle her. He was fairly good at reading people.
He nodded, “That’s all I need to know, man” he said easily, “I can’t ask for more than that. You’re a decent guy, I’m sure you’ll be a good for her. Hell you already got her studying more, boyfriends aren’t usually good influences on that kind of thing” he teased with a grin.
He shrugged with a bit of a laugh and nodded, “Yea, I suppose to a degree that I am. An influence in studying--I’m breaking all the boyfriend rules. I’m taking it though, as best that I can. And yea, I’ll be good to her, I promise. As best that I can.”
He then rubbed at the back of his head, staring at Draco, happy he seemed to be pleased with the answer. Then cleared his throat, “But yea, good to know she has a brother looking out for her just as much I would. Means she’s getting what she deserves. Still, anyway, enough of that--so you’re into music? You looking to go into music business, or a band, or something like that?”
Draco shrugged, “She’s my twin sister, gotta look out for her” he said doing a good job of coming across casual before smiling when Peter asked about music. “You could say that. I play guitar and piano, not sure exactly what capacity I wanna be in the business as right now. Our mom has moved from gospel to pop, she’s about to tour but I kinda wanna do my own thing you know?” the very last thing Draco wanted was any insinuation that he was only getting anywhere thanks to his moms connections.
Pansy headed back down the stairs. She’d grabbed her thick sweatshirt and a pair of socks from her bedroom, then stopped in front of the mirror for a moment to touch up her hair and make-up. Of course, she wasn’t the most polished of people under the best circumstances, and tonight was casual, so she didn’t look like a fashion model tonight. She was just excited to get out there and have some beers and go bowling.
She was listening hard to try and figure out what the boys were talking about, but all she could hear was Draco saying something about her mother’s music and upcoming tour. “You’re not boring him with stories about our mother, are you?” She asked, grinning, as she came down the last couple steps. She took hold of Peter’s hand at the bottom of the stairs, giving them both a warm smile. “...let’s talk about something more exciting, hmm?” She teased.
He nodded to draco and grinned, “I’ve heard about your mother, from Pansy. I’m sure you can make your in-roads though, just gotta find the right one sometimes. It’ll be curious to see where you take it, actually. Here’s hoping you end up on the cover of Rolling Stone someday.”
About then, he heard Pansy’s voice and looked up to her with a big grin. Even if she didn’t ‘doll’ herself up overly fancy, or whatever it is she thought she didn’t do; what she did do was look absolutely magnificent no matter what she did. What little preparation she did put into it, was perhaps the most perfect of preparations because as far as Peter was concerned, not a single person on this planet looked as beautiful as her.
He smirked when she took his hand and shrugged, “Something more exciting, huh? Like what precisely? You fraternizing with professors? Or about how I’m going to clean your clock at bowling?” He was kidding of course, he sucked at pretty much anything sports related, still he wasn’t about to back down now. Not after the gauntlet laid at the Go-Kart track.
Draco chuckled, now that was a rather lofty aspiration but he couldn’t help thinking being in Rolling Stone magazine would definitely indicate he’d made it if that was indeed the route he took.
He rolled his eyes at Pansy before smirking, “That’s a pretty big claim there Pete” he said, “How about it Pans? Ready to get your ass kicked by a couple of guys?” he teased her knowing full well it would most likely end up the other way around, though Draco wasn’t too hopeless when it came to bowling.
“You’re gonna have to get me pretty drunk if you think you’re gonna kick my ass at bowling.” She said, turning to lead the boys out the door. Truth was, Bowling was for fun, not one of those things she was overly competitive about. Pansy wasn’t competitive by nature, to be honest. She liked to play to play. She liked to win when she got rewards for it. Kisses, for example.
“Are we all taking one car, or...?” She asked, opening the front door and pushing her way through. She practically dragged Peter along behind her, wanting to get out and go party.
He blinked when he was suddenly tugged away, laughing at the fact she was dragging him out of the house so fast, “Alright, alright. Well I don’t see any reason to take separate cars; unless Draco has someone to meet with later tonight, or gets tired of whacking us at bowling that he wants to take off early.”
He chuckled before falling into step with Pansy. He overtook her, and dragged her with him towards his car this time, grinning as he looked back to her. Dangling his keys in front of her, and then unlocked the car while moving towards her, “Figure I’ll drive, if we’re all taking one car, considering I’m the guest on this little excursion.”
He grinned then stopped at the car, opening the door for her, before looking between them all, “So we all taking the one car then?”
“Sure” Draco said, “I doubt I’ll get tired of beating the both of you, it’s gotta be a good few hours of entertainment” he grinned at them. He figured Pansy would have let him know if she had wanted him to take his own car, and if he did need to make himself scarce there were always cab companies. But as far as he could tell this was a ‘getting to know you’ kind of evening which she wasn’t considering a date with Peter that he was tagging along on, thank god.
Nah, this was definitely a ‘getting to know you’ outing. Pansy wouldn’t bring her brother with her on a date. That would be silly and maybe a little wrong. She grinned as Peter dangled the keys in front of her, then popped around to the passenger side of the car and climbed in. She was having fun already, and beer and bowling would undoubtedly only make it better.
“I’m torn. Pizza or nachos? Or a cheeseburger?” She asked, as the boys climbed into the car and pulled their belts on. “I can’t wait for some food and a beer. They have Sierra Nevada on tap at the bowling alley.”
“Do you keep lists of what’s on tap in all bowling alleys and bars around town?” He winked to her before starting up the car, waiting for Draco to get in before putting it into motion and taking off. He knew where the nearest bowling alley was; so he figured that’s the one she was picking in her head. So he made a right turn and set a course for said alley. He looked towards her again, and shrugged, “Nachos. Pizza’s never good at a bowling alley, you can have a cheeseburger anywhere; bowling alley nachos are so remarkably bad, they’re the world’s greatest. Easy decision.”
He was still nervous though, and therefore wasn’t really thinking ahead about food and beer and bowling; he was worried about saying the wrong thing, pissing her off and in turn pissing Draco off, or vice versa. He was worried about coming on too strong, or too soft, or--well he was basically being Peter Parker. Goodness, how did one keep ahead in moments like this?
“Did Pans not tell you about her drinking problem?” he teased, “Sis seriously, you could have warned the guy. A man needs to know when his girl can drink him under the table” he smirked.
“I gotta agree” Draco told Peter, “I always go for pizza and I’m always disappointed. Nachos might have to be the plan”
Pansy laughed. “Hey, when you find a place that’s got your favorite--okay, maybe second favorite--beer on tap, you gotta remember that place.” She shrugged a little. She didn’t have a drinking problem. (...did she?) She just liked to let loose. And it never interfered with her school work or home life. Humph.
“They have mega loaded nachos, too. With all kinds of stuff on them. Gotta have like, beans and meat and salsa.” She said, smiling brightly as Peter drove to the Bowling alley. It seemed like he knew where he was going, so Pansy didn’t bother giving him instructions.
He raised a brow and then laughed as well at Draco’s comment, “Oh no she hasn’t, but as long as the drinking problem means she’s having fun. I can only imagine what she’s like when she’s not having fun, I’m thinking grouchy and mean.” He winked to Pansy to suggest he was joking, before shrugging his shoulders and looking back towards the road, “Also, I have to agree. Mega Loaded nachos is always better than typical loaded nachos. I have complete faith in you, too, that you can finish it off as well.”
Draco was, of course, winding his sister up. He didn’t for one moment think she honestly had a drinking problem. Yeah sure she could drink him under the table but that was mostly because Draco had never been particularly bothered about it. It wasn’t something he overly enjoyed.
“Oh absolutely, bear with a sore head doesn’t begin to cover it” Draco smirked sticking his tongue out at his sister, “Loaded nachos it is then. Since we all seem to agree its the best choice”
“What he said,” Pansy said, agreeing with Peter. She was absolutely having fun. Then she gave a little laugh. “Shut up, you!” She said, turning around and swinging an arm playfully at Draco in the backseat. “You’re just jealous ‘cause... well, because.” She said, then stuck her tongue out at him, too.
She settled back into her chair just in time. The Bowling alley’s parking lot was about half-full, so it was easy for them to find a parking space. Pansy nearly leapt out of the car once they were there, so excited about nachos and happy to be there. “C’mon, slow pokes!”
He laughed and opened his own door, stepping out to fall into step behind Pansy, watching her basically running towards the front door. The girl was obviously looking forward to this night, and Peter was assuring himself he was going to do everything in his power to provide as great of a night as he, at least, could muster. Obviously, he couldn’t bring himself to let her get bored of him so he had to bring his A game right? Right.
He looked over towards Draco, making sure he was following, before locking the car with a press of a button on his key chain, and then moved after Pansy, “We’re being slow because, well, I’m just taking in the aura that is the bowling alley.”
Draco followed his sister and Peter towards the bowling alley, shaking his head with a wide smile at his sisters enthusiasm. One thing was for sure Pansy knew how to make the most of everything and enjoy herself. He did too but he wasn’t always as expressive as Pansy, preferring to not wear his heart on his sleeve most of the time.
“I’m centering my focus” Draco added dryly, “Channeling my energy into beating you” he teased as they walked.
Pansy’s heart was definitely on her sleeve, but it was a tough old girl. It’d never been really broken before, just bruised and battered a bit. She’d never really been in love enough for it to get crushed, so it was easy to wear wherever she wanted.
She pushed the door open. “Good luck with that!” She called back to Draco before slipping inside. She rushed to the counter and bought six games and three shoe rentals, paying before either of her boys could come and stop her. She knew the guy behind the counter, the gal renting out the shoes, and the old woman working the concessions by name, and they all waved to her when she came in.
He grinned when she seemed to know everyone in the alley. Shaking his head, he laughed and moved up behind her to tell the man behind the counter what shoe size he needed, before looking towards Pansy, “You really are a woman of the people; you know everyone. I thought I was cool with my connection to the Observatory, but you’re so much more ear to the road kind of person. I like that.”
He found it really cool to know someone who just knew people, made friends, had connections and companions all over the place. Peter couldn’t even hope to be that person; he knew academics, and that’s about it. Scholarly types, people in academia, but not as friends. He learned from them, worked with them, taught them, stuff like that. He didn’t go and have a beer with them. It made him realize how much of a loner life he kind of lived. Not that he was a ‘loner’, just that life seemed plenty boring when he realized how she, and perhaps Draco lived. He rather liked the idea of jumping into this sort of lifestyle.
Not that he had any idea how long he’d ever be spending in this sort of lifestyle.
Draco was used to Pansy knowing everybody, her being the more outgoing of the two of them. He tended to know people through a mutual interest or love of music and there was a piano in the bowling alley though it currently stood alone. He nodded to the man behind the counter as he was handed shoes in his size.
He smiled as he heard Peter talking to Pansy, it was a good job he liked it because if he was to be a long term boyfriend he too would know a lot more people before long.
Pansy gave Peter's hip a bump with her own, accepting the shoes from the gal behind the counter. (She was staring longingly at Draco the whole time.) Then turned to lead her boys toward the farthest lane from the door. It was empty, whereas there was a league practicing on a lot of the other lanes. "I like to make friends, y'know?" She did what she could for people, and they returned the favor. Soon a friendship formed, and they were doing things for each other and spending time out and about even when there was nothing in it for them besides friendship.
"Anyway, I figure you can go get the beers, and Draco can get the Nachos." She said, giving them a grin. "Division of labor, right? Or... division of costs, or both..." She gave a little shrug.
Peter laughed and nodded, “Alright, yea, division of cost. I’ll go grab some pitchers of beer, and yes I said plural. I have a feeling to make the best of the ass kicking we’re going to receive, we have to have some alcohol in us.” He was joking of course, chuckling as he tossed his shoes near the lane, then turned towards the bar to go place the order.
He tried to remember what Pansy had ordered at the pizza place, and decided to place an order for that since he knew she liked it. Luckily it was on tap here, and nodded to the girl behind the bar counter. With two pitchers poured, he offered up the cash and grabbed some glasses as he made his way back to the lane. Setting it all down near them each. He finally sat down and began to change his shoes, before looking to her.
“But yea, it’s cool that you like to make friends. It’s, well I like it a lot; means you’re a people person, the best sort of people person,” he grinned, “I’ve uh, never been the friend-making type. Never had that kind of popularity through my life. Guess I’ve always been kind of a loner, not necessarily by choice but by trade really.”
Draco had been oblivious to the girl who had been staring at him, he rarely noticed anything like that, most likely because of his own lack of interest. It always seemed to amuse Pansy whenever she made him aware of it later. He gave her a salute before heading to the food counter to order their nachos.
He figured three portions loaded with the works would be sufficient for them. He made small talk with the guy behind the counter who had recognised Draco from the impromptu piano sessions that he’d done on a few occasions and was trying to encourage him to do it today. When Draco promised to consider it he was given a free portion of large fries and onion rings along with his order, Draco grinned before heading back to Pansy and Peter.
“Grubs up” he told them with a smile before placing the tray down by the drinks, “I’d say we have the makings of a great night here”
“Damn straight.” Pansy grinned at her boys. This was how she rolled. She had drinks, food, fun, all of that lined up for the evening. And tonight she’d even done it without having to pass out any favors! With her bowling shoes on and a cup filled with brew, she moved to her brother and wrapped an arm around his shoulders.
“Here’s to the end of an amazing semester.” She said, lifting her glass in a toast, and catching Peter’s eye. “And to the beginning of a beautiful friendship.” Really, it was a relationship, but that would mess up the quote she was mis-quoting.
Snatched up his own glass, grinning when the plate of nachos was brought over. Nodding at the food set before them, before then holding his own glass up towards Pansy and clinking his glass with hers, holding it there in preparation for Draco’s clink, and then took a long drink from his glass finally, “To semesters and...” clearing his throat, “Friendship.” He took another drink before setting it down and going in for the nachos. Then, cracking his knuckles, he fell in place of the computer and went about setting up their names.
“Nachos, beers, and bowling. We’re living the legitimate American dream tonight,” turning around to face them both. “Now who wants to go first? I think it should be Pansy, ladies first after all. Plus, it gives me the opportunity to get a few more beers and nachos in me.”
Draco happily joined in that toast, although it hadn’t been as bad as he’d expected it hadn’t been all plain sailing either, he’d had to work but found that unlike school it was much more enjoyable. Having a choice in the subjects he studied probably helped.
He clinked glasses with Pansy and Peter not quite able to hold back a grin or roll of his eyes at them both using the term ‘friendship’ but he refrained from actually commenting. Just.
“We should give Pans a head start, she may need it after all” Draco teased his sister knowing full well that she would indeed kick the crap out of them both.
Pansy laughed. She set down her glass on the little table next to the nachos. “I dunno, we’ll see.” She moved over to the rack and picked up one of the lighter bowling balls. Like a 8 pounder. Then she moved back over to take her turn.
Pansy was pretty good at bowling. She liked to drink between frames, though, so her score would go down a little with each roll.
He watched her move up to take her turn, and Peter couldn’t help but grin as he kicked his feet up and raised his brow watching the duo. He took another drink, while eating at his nachos, “Now make sure you use proper form, I’d hate for you to slip and hurt your hip or something. It’d be embarrassing, and it’d likely hurt our relationship at all if I even started laughing.”
He grinned before looking to Draco, “So what sort of music are you into? Rockabilly, classical, pop, rap, so on and so forth? I pulled all the ones most people would say they’d hate, that way just in case you were into one of them you wouldn’t be embarrassed by saying ‘yea that one.”
He chuckled, before taking another sip.
Draco laughed in response as he settled down with his own nachos, “Thanks for that. Very considerate” he grinned, “I’ll listen to pretty much anything” he replied, “It’s the best way to learn. Even if you don’t like the style of music there may be chords or compositions that you can use for your own stuff. Nothing’s ever a total loss. I play more folk and easy listening stuff though. Pop isn’t really my style.” Pop and gospel were something Draco would be staying well clear of, those were his mom’s areas of interest and Draco had never been overly impressed with them if he was honest.
Pansy wandered back over and sat down next to Peter to drink and eat between frames. She was glad that Peter and Draco seemed to be getting along so well, and didn’t want to interrupt them. “Is Pop really anyone’s style? Besides Mom, I mean.” She said, giving a little grin before munching on some nachos.
“I don’t know if Pop should be anyone’s style, if I’m honest. I mean it’s catchy, sure, but my god is it annoying. No offense to your mother, by the way; I’m certain she’s brilliant, even if I’ve never heard her before,” Peter stood to his feet and moved to take his turn at the lane. He grabbed a ball, a good 16 pounder. He moved to the lane, before looking back towards them all.
“Draco, I think you should take up bluegrass. I can play some pretty mean spoons, and have dabbled at moonshine jugs. I’m something of a grammy winner at it; not to brag or anything, of course.” He chuckled before moving to take his turn.
Draco grinned and waved off the concern, while he loved his mother dearly he wasn’t sure her move from gospel to pop was the best decision she’d ever made. It definitely wasn’t one he’d have advised, but then it really wasn’t his thing.
He laughed at Peter’s suggestion, “Ah maybe that could be my calling. We could take the world by storm with bluegrass” he said before taking a drink of his beer.
Pansy gave a laugh. “Moonshine jugs??” She shook her head a little, and reached for her own beer. Peter was adorable, and he was funny. What a great combination. And she loved how well he was getting along with her brother, too! How’d she get to be so lucky?
“Just don’t forget little ‘ole me when you two tour the globe playing bluegrass. I seem to be the only Malfoy without a lick of music in her genes.” She said, pouting playfully over at Draco.
He stepped down from the lane after his turn, moving to grab a seat next to Pansy, placing his arm around her shoulders as he shrugged his own, “You’re by no means talentless; you may not have music genes, but you have the talent of beauty and smarts--a far more dangerous and brilliant combination. Remember why we’re here, because you’re a genius. I just have to hope you don’t put in for a Masters in my field, or I might be screwed in the competitive business that is science.”
He winked then, chuckling as he nudged her before stealing himself a nacho and taking a bite out of it. Taking another drink from his beer, he nodded to Draco, “Your turn. I think if we combine our scores, we can beat the cootie carrier.”
Draco had to agree with Peter, “You got the brains Pans” he told her, “And plenty of creativity in other areas” he teased with a wink before standing to take his turn. “I like the way you think” he told Peter, “You’re going down girlie” he smirked before ruining it by laughing. Picking up a ball he headed down the lane.
Pansy gave a laugh, pouring herself more beer. It was nice, though, to know that her brother thought she was smart and good in other areas. She blushed just a little, warmed inside by the thought. She nodded. “All right, bring it. I’ll go ahead and get drunk to give you guys a fair chance.” She grinned between the two of them, and then gulped from her glass.
“I’m actually better at bowling when drunk, or at least I think I am. Kind of like most people think they’re sexier drunk, and better at singing when drunk,” he laughed and winked towards her, then took another drink from his beer while Draco went to take his turn. He nudged her a moment, “So it likely means I’m not actually better drunk. And now I’m rambling, why am I rambling? Tell me to stop rambling.”
He laughed and ducked his head with a bit of a shake, “I’m going to start quoting Carl Sagan before this is over with.”
