Who: Kitty and Xi’an
What: Ski resort and Kitty’s wish comes true

There were challenged in a vacation that involved kids that Kitty hadn’t known about until she was knee deep in it. But with Xi’an’s experience and a bit of trial and error, they’d made it safely to the resort, and checked in.
And then she’d gotten an entirely different surprise of her own. A call from her mother. It lasted over an hour that she’d mostly spent outside, watching the mountains as she talked. When she entered the suite again, it was obvious she had been crying, but she also had a massive grin on her face.
Xan took a deep breath as Kitty stepped back inside. She knew that a call from her mom was probably not on Kitty’s list of ‘best ways to start Christmas vacation,’ but she’d given her shoulder a squeeze before ushering Leong and Nga further away from the phone conversation.
She wrapped her arms around Kitty and tilted her head. “So...how’d it go?”
"She...she apologized!" Kitty wrapped her arms around Xi'an and rested her face in the crook of her neck. "She apologized and she said she loved me enough to accept me!"
Her voice cracked on the word 'accept' and Kitty squeezed Xi'an tighter. Best. Holiday Season. Ever.
Xi’an hugged Kitty tighter and took a deep breath. “Oh, Kitty...that’s great!” She stroked Kitty’s hair, grinning as she felt tears of relief well up in her eyes. “I’m glad she’s been working through things. That’s a much better way of starting vacation than I was afraid it would be.”
"It's such a relief. I feel lighter than air." Kitty laughed, her voice a little like music, and she floated them several feet up and kissed her lightly. "I was dreading that conversation so much, and it went so well!"
Xi’an laughed and kissed back. “I am so happy for you!</i>”
"God I can't wait to get out on the slopes tomorrow. We're going to have an awesome dinner tonight. I'll treat us to a feast." Giddily, Kitty set them down on the ground, and called out. "Hey kids! How hungry are you!"
Leong and Nga came running. “We’re starving!”
Even after being around it for years, Xi’an was still occasionally surprised at how well the twins worked in sync. She chuckled and gestured for them to join the hug. The twins grinned and joined them. “Kitty’s treating us to dinner.”
“Awesome!”
Kitty put an arm around the nearest twin. "Get cleaned up and put on your best outfits, okay? It's a fancy restaurant. There'll be a great big Christmas tree and these huge windows that look out on the mountains."
Leong and Nga ran off excitedly, and Xi’an smiled. “I’d say they’re pretty excited.” She chuckled and hugged Kitty again. “This is turning out to be a great vacation already.”
Laughing, Kitty rested her lips against Xi’an’s lips and held her, nuzzling lightly. “It’s like a wish come true, love. It really is. It’s made this whole trip so much more awesome!”
Xi’an wrapped her arms around Kitty’s waist and smiled. “I am so thrilled for you. That’s one thing you won’t have to worry about anymore. And that really will make this trip so much better.”
“After dinner, it’ll be too dark to get in any skiing,” Kitty replied, letting herself get lost in Xi’an’s eyes. “So we’ll have to get up early. But we can hang out in the lodge, find something for the kids to do. Maybe there’ll be some kids their age to play with.”
She paused, then trailed a finger over Xi’an’s lip. “And maybe we could play with each other later.”
Xi’an grinned slowly. “I think we could persuade them to get up early for skiing. And I’m sure they’d enjoy making new friends,” she said.
She gently nipped at Kitty’s finger. “And I know I’d enjoy that.”
Kitty laughed, letting Xi'an catch her finger with her teeth. "This is the best day ever!"
