"A view of Asgard like we've never seen!"
Who: Thor and Dream!Loki in passing
Where: Thor's place, the Dream! Thunderrunne in a harbor and then in the sky
When: Now
What: A dream
"This is it." Thor heard himself, a much younger version of himself, maybe fifteen or so, telling a dark haired, smaller boy a little younger than him, and who had his brother's eyes. So, younger Loki then, who Thor had actually not seen any pictures of from when he was around that age, but who he would know anywhere, even dressed in...what exactly were they wearing? Loki had a golden cloak, not yellow, not the kind of gold shade you'd see in a movie either, but rich beyond anything Thor had ever noticed before, green leathers under that, some kind of gauntlet and...again, it didn't look like anything he'd noticed anywhere before.
Thor himself had a red vest, some sort of armor under that, a sword, a SWORD?, strapped at his side, and they were standing near a massive ship, A massive ship that..wasn't docked near any water, instead floating in the clouds. The clouds? And yet, it all felt perfectly natural, perfectly right, and so perfectly suited that Thor couldn't even question it. Dream logic told him what he needed to know, and it pointed out that they were having an adventure. For some reason, Odin had told Thor at least that he wasn't supposed to go anywhere like this, and he'd gone ahead and rebelled, dragging his little brother along too.
If Thor really thought about it, maybe he could have connected it to childhood, when Loki had actually been with them, but again, dream logic didn't let him worry too much over that. Instead he watched as he and Loki stole away into the hold of the magnificent ship, the ship that had a dragon's neck, and carvings like he'd never seen. So intricate...he didn't imagine that was possible for anybody's human hands to DO. And strangest of all, he felt at home here, sneaking into the hold of a ship, hearing the laughter of his friends on deck as the ship...set sail through clouds and then with a great whoosh, up into the very air itself as a single sail unfurled and they soared up through the stars.
Thor watched the take off from down in the hold, peering through a trap door as they rose up and up and up and and pulled away from a mountain peak, from one world, where a rainbow, brighten than he'd ever seen, and perfectly clear and vast and yet, solid enough to walk on, formed a perfect bridge between this island world they pulled away from, and another that Thor didn't know.
He watched, he stared as they continued through the stars, and that mountain, and the strange rainbow, large enough at least to fit five riders on their horses riding next to one another, receded into the distance, for the moment, though he knew somehow it would always be there, and always lead him home.
"It's astonishing, Loki." he heard himself telling his brother as he watched and the rainbow faded back into the distance, at least for now. Astonishing was one word for it, he decided, as he woke up, stunned and awed, and only wanting to go BACK, as absolutely crazy as that was.
First thing tomorrow, he needed to talk to Loki. </cut>
