Once Spock's gaze rested on Uhura, it was like she had become an object of intense scrutiny for a few seconds. Nothing was different about her, certainly not that he could physically notice. He motioned with one hand toward the counter, to indicate that he would be momentarily detained, and ordered his coffee. As for that coffee? It was probably the same. Soy milk, no sugar. Precise, yet simple.
As he finally approached the table with his coffee in hand and sat down near her, he smiled. Actually factually smiled, even though it was fleeting, as though it was reserved specifically for her and no one else.
"You still look the same as you did, in college," Spock said. Pausing to let the coffee cool off and making a show of blowing on the surface to cool it, he quietly added so no one else could overhear, "It's good to see you again, Nyota."
