Who: Tenoh Haruka and Kaioh Michiru
What: Puppies, evil cats and, surprisingly, nothing naughty.
When: Shortly after this
Where: Their flat.
Rating: PG13, maybe?
Status: Complete!

Michiru stepped off the bus, the mini containers of ice cream in a bag to keep them cold. Ice cream was a treat she used when she just needed to be reminded of good things. She opened the door and no sooner was the bad set down was there a very upset looking Poseidon, who hissed and bolted when suddenly a rompy and floppy puppy came over to her.

She giggled, wiping her eyes of the tears she’d had and dropped to a knee and pulled out of another bag a chew toy. She may have gone on an item spree for things she forgot to get for training the new member of their family. When she saw feet in front of her she looked up and faked a smile. She still feels terrible for even the idea of it getting out.

Not that faking a smile tended to work with Haruka. She knew Michiru much too well for it. Gently pushing the puppy aside a little, she dropped to her knees, pulling her lover into her arms. “It’s okay, you know... you don’t have to pretend.”

Michiru pushed close as she could get, trying not to cry too much. “I’m so sorry... I never want to out you. I... It’s kept me up at night a few times. I feel guilty for saying the wrong pronoun occasionally.” Felt a cold nose against her arm and the familiar scratching of tiny claws as the puppy tried to get attention from it’s ‘other human’!

She sighed and pulled away and pulled her into her arms. “You’re as bad as your papa!” And saying that seemed a bit too deja vu for words.

Haruka chuckled softly. “Can’t blame me just yet, Michiru. Only had her for a few hours...” And yet, in that time, she’d clearly fallen for her. Best puppy ever... and, also, best distraction ever. “Poseidon needs to realise she’s here to stay. He’s been sulking ever since I got home.”

“Oh my...” Giggled softly and handed the puppy over and walked over to deal with Poseidon and instead of him being a nice kitty his bit down at the inner part of her palm, causing her to yelp out rather loudly and pull her hand away. “Hey! What the hell?!” Looked at the decent bite and the blood starting from it. “Haruka... I’m going to deal with this, put him in that kennel please?”

That cat could really be a bastard sometimes. Haruka sighed and got up, yanking Poseidon up by the scruff of his neck. He could try to bite her all he wanted, but it wasn’t going to stop her... largely because of her insanely high pain tolerance. “Can do... maybe it’ll make him calm down.”

Even if he looked even more unimpressed when she got him in and shut the door. It was things like this that made sure Haruka could never be a cat person.

Hissed out and looked at the wound as she ran water over it before looking around for a towel to stem the bleeding. “Little thing’s lucky we heal quickly... Or I’d never be able to play the few concerts we have coming up. Like the one with that adorable little fanboy I have!” Giggled to try and distract her mind. It hurt.

Hurt more so that it was her kitty that did it. “Can you bring the first aid kit from the kitchen?” Pressed the nearest towel down and walked back out to find a very scared looking puppy under the table. “Oh... It’s alright. We won’t let him hurt you.” Tried to coax her out.

The only reason Haruka hadn’t threatened to break said fanboy’s legs was because he’d seemed... well, utterly unthreatening, in every single way. She was quick to move to retrieve the first aid kit, not wanting to put Michiru through anything more than necessary.

When she noticed that, she put the kit down on the table, crouching down to get a better look. “Hey, it’s okay... c’mere. Not going to let that cat bully you...”

Michiru watched as the puppy quickly moved over to Haruka and began licking at her hand. She giggled. “She likes you... I’m glad.” Moved the towel off to better look at the damage. Thankfully it bled more than it was bad. Though, now she had to figure out how to self bandage with one hand.

“She’s got good taste. Naturally.” Haruka gave the puppy a scratch behind the ears, before glancing up to Michiru. “If you need a hand, just let me know... I feel a little responsible.”

“Why would you be responsible for something like this?” Michiru arched her eyebrow and worked on opening the ointment to spread on it. It was awkward doing with one hand, but she could deal... Kinda.

Haruka shrugged. “Just kind of feel it... I’m the only reason Poseidon’s freaking out, considering this little girl’s mine.”

“But I’m the one that got her for you... Can you help me get the bandages on?” Set everything out and just looked at them. It was hard and awkward to wrap them the way they needed to go.

“Point.” Haruka gave the puppy one last scratch before getting up, taking the bandages and carefully wrapping them around. She’d had more than enough experience with this kind of thing than she’d really ever admit... and not only because bandages made good makeshift binders. “He’s also just an ass of a cat...”

“Yeah... But I can’t really blame him. New animal brought in the house. I had plans of coaxing him in by bringing the blanket she slept with in so he could get used to her scent.” Winced when she pushed a bit too hard by accident. “But with having to get her early, that couldn’t be helped.” Michiru looked over to the kennel to see Poseidon just glaring at her with a stare that they were ‘unworthy’ of something. “And if he doesn’t... I’ll send him home to be with my sister.” Sure she loved the cat, but she couldn’t very well make Haruka give the puppy so, grumpy old cat would have to go. He was almost as old as she was. In human years that is.

“We’ll figure something out... I may just try bribing him with treats.” It’d worked in the past! Or, well, had sometimes. Other times, he’d just bitten her hand and run away, like the little bastard he truly was. “Don’t try to eat the puppy, or us, get a treat.”

“I really doubt he could eat her.” Giggled and pulled her hand close to her person when the bandages were done with. She stood and set everything into the box and it back up before grabbing two spoons and the ice cream. “She’s already pretty big!”

Big by puppy standards, maybe! “You underestimate how evil that cat can be. I’ve still not forgiven him for sitting on all my bruises after that thing in the desert...”

“Don’t be such a baby, you were fine.” Looked over to the cat and sighed and walked over and just let him out. He hissed once then into his sleeping bed to curl up. She really does spoil him. Sat down on the couch and pulled out the mint chocolate for her and Haruka’s fave for her.

“It still hurt!” And it’d wounded her manly pride! Being the Senshi of the Skies was rather deflated when you could be defeated by a cat poking the many, many bruises that you’d ended up getting.

“He was probably trying to help and just didn’t figure out how without you hurting. Does he look alright to you?” Looked to the cat who looked at her and was purring. “He seems quieter...”

Haruka shrugged. She really didn’t know that much about cats... except that they were evil, naturally. “He seems... okay-ish. Considering there’s a puppy charging around.”

Well, there had been. The puppy energy rush had already run out, and she’d fallen asleep in the corner.

Waving it off as nothing, Michiru opened her container of ice cream and began to eat happily. “You really do like the puppy, right?” Looked to her. “I spent ages and a bunch of meeting with owners before meeting the one I thought fit best for you.”

“She’s gorgeous. And bitey.” But that was a puppy thing, and she could deal. Especially since she’d seemed to already realise that biting Haruka never led to good things. “I honestly love her.”

“I’m eager to watch her grow and learn. And watch you two bond.” Nudged her shoulder and took another bite and flailed because brain freeze. “Ack!”

And even though it was probably entirely terrible, Haruka couldn’t help but laugh. “I guess I should be relieved you can get brainfreeze... not sure Aino-san has as much luck.”

Much as she loved Minako, it was entirely too much fun to tease her. Especially about her inexplicable blonde moments.

“Means I have a brain? Ow.” Rubbed her forehead and groaned to try and make it go away faster. Once it had subsided and she no longer felt like her head as splitting open, she went back for more ice cream. It was good!

“I think that’s the theory. I’ve known a lot of people who... just don’t get it.” Which was actually kind of embarrassing. Haruka wasn’t sure if it meant she had terrible taste in friends or what, but... hey, at least it didn’t apply to her!

“Then eat the all the ice cream you want at a time, love.” Giggled to herself and tried not to let on how obvious that joke was. She could tease Haruka all she wants, kind of the perks of dating her and all!

Haruka may well have pouted. A manly pout, though! If there was such a thing... “You’re so cruel sometimes, Michiru...”

“And yet you love and deal with me!” Poked the end of her spoon to Haruka’s nose and smiled. This was nice, sometimes even more so than sex. “You’re being adorable as hell, my love. Even if it’s the girliest pout you’ve ever made....”

That was just a low blow. “I’m not girly. You know that... adorable, yes, girly, no. Never!”

And now she felt like she’s done something horribly wrong and she went quiet. Michiru focused on her ice cream and her spoon. And in turn her reflection in the spoon.

Ah, that hadn’t gone right. Haruka ran a hand through her hair, trying to think of a way to put this. “It’s... not like it’s a bad thing or anything... I guess.”

Words were hard when things got this awkward.

Michiru sighed and bit her lip. Today has just been an off day today. And she guesses it just won’t get any better. “I’m going to take a nap... I’ll.” Stopped and stood to put the ice cream away. “I’ll speak with you when I wake.”

“Michiru, I...” Haruka sighed, realising that yes, she’d probably screwed this up beyond easy repair. Dammit. “I’m sorry. For... taking it in that sort of way.”

Even if, really, she hadn’t minded that much. It’d just come out sounding worse than it really was.
