Where: Gay bar

Dany liked it when Jack gave her jobs she thought she would enjoy. Eddard Stark had been boring, but Shepard? Well, she would prove to be much more fun. An older, beautiful, womanizing lesbian was just the sort Dany was used to. She used to love it when women came in to the club because it was so rare. It was sad that they were almost always attached to a man, some stupid company guidelines usually kept them from coming in on their own, but sometimes they would. And Dany loved it.
So, she put on her favorite pale pink slinky dress and white high heel shoes to be sure to impress. As much as Dany liked women, they really didn't know how to dress. It would be hard for anyone not to notice her. Because she wasn't sure what time Shepard might show up, or if at all, she went early and sat herself at the end of the bar where she could watch the door. She was careful not to drink too much, despite how much she wanted to, just to be sure she had her head about her if Shepard showed up.
Shepard was never that comfortable in formal wear, though she could pull it off as the occasion warranted. Such as a real fancy date. Today, she wore a white, button up blouse tucked into comfortable black pants. Clean, and simple, with just enough buttons unbuttoned to tease.
She looked around, and walked over to the bar to order a drink. A nice, strong one. If she was going to think she was crazy, she wanted to be drunk for it. She smiled at the woman next to her, eyes flitting up and down Dany's body. Damn, maybe she needed to be less drunk and more not-alone.
Bingo. Dany recognized Shepard as soon as she walked through the door and it was just her luck that the woman decided to park herself right next to Dany and check her out. It was predictable behavior, but Dany wasn't about to complain abotu that. She smiled back and turned on the actress. She hestitates for a moment as if trying to decide if she wanted to talk to Shepard or not. Then she finally leaned in close, the smile still on her face. "Bad day?" she asked, indicating the drink.
"It might be looking better," Tyra replied, smiling. She tapped the edge of her glass with a finger, chuckling, "Its probably a bit early for the hard stuff."
Dany couldn't help but laugh a little. Despite the job she was very much attracted to the other woman. "I'd say it is definitely looking better." She straightened her back and scooted a little closer to Shepard so it would be easier to chat. "Nah," she said. "It's never too early," she pointed to her own glass that was half full of whiskey.
Grinning, Tyra held out her hand, "I'm Tyra." She glanced at the drink, wondering what sort of things would bother the beautiful woman in a dress she was already imagining the feel of over skin.
Dany took Shepard's hand and shook it delicately. "Daenerys," she replied. "But that's a mouthful so you can call me Dany." She hesitated again. "You'll let me buy you a drink, won't you? I could use a little company. I feel like I've been sitting here alone forever."
Tyra thought the women didn't need to try so hard, she was already baited and hooked. She rested a hand on Dany's forearm "I think I can suffer someone as dazzling as yu buying me a drink."
Dany smiled, a bit of color reaching her cheeks as she blushed and averted her eyes shyly. "Good," she said finally and then paused for a moment. "So, Shepard," she said finally. "What do you do for a living?"
"I do some part-time work helping kids get a second chance," She replied, grinning a little wider at the blushing. Shepard was a sucker for adorable, "Teach them boxing for discipline, help them focus their energy on less destructive things than drugs and gangs. For some of them its their last chance before they end up in and out of hail the rest of their lives."
Dany raised her eyebrows. If that was true, Dany wasn't really sure why Jack was so interested in her. There had to be more to this woman than meets the eye. Obviously she had been in the military, Marines or Navy maybe, but that was all Dany could tell. "That sounds like really fulfilling work," she said. "Not like mine. I'm just some executive assistant. Not nearly as important."
"Executive assistant is another word for running everything behind the scenes," Shepard pointed out. "In the Corps, I had to rely on others to get things done. I don't know what I would've done without Jammer."
Dany let out a small chuckle and shrugged. "I don't know about that, but it's nice of you to say. Marine Corps, huh? I had a feeling you might be military. How is civilian life treating you?"
"Better than the government did," Tyra admitted. "I was in the middle of DADT hearings whent he orders came down to stop it. I retired not that long ago."
Dany raised her eyebrows. "I'm not really sure what that means," she admitted, fingering her glass of whiskey. "I don't mean to pry. It doesn't sound like you had a very good experience."
"For most of my career I had to hide a large part of who I am. There are some regrets there. But I felt like I was doing my duty to the couhntry." She took a swig of her whiskey, "I don't usually bother talking about this kind of thing." She figured it was the dreams - one of the things she got from it was no one gave a damn who she slept with as long as she did her job. She snorted, "They'd have me kill people and blow shit up, but oh god, kiss a girl and its all over."
"Oh," Dany said flatly as she frowned and looked away. "That's awful. I'm sorry. If a person wants to serve their country they should be allowed to, no matter who they decide to love in their personal life." She paused. "But then you already know that. I'm sorry that happened to you" She motioned for the bartender to come over. It looked like Shepard could use another drink.
She was grateful for the drink, and the distraction she got while she tasted it, "Its in the past, nothing I can do about it now. Still wish I knew who brought the subject up that led to the hearings. Probably because I wouldn't fuck the CO." She winked, and raised her glass, toasting dickwads everywhere.
The look of concern was wiped off of Dany's face as soon as she saw the wink. She smiled and lifted her own glass in the air, giving the same toast before taking a swig of her drink. She was silent for a while, playing with her glass on the table. "Do you ever get the feeling that.." Dany shrugged. ".. I don't know. That there's something more than all of this out there somewhere? Just waiting for us?"
Tyra glanced at Dany, raising an eyebrow. She wasn't sure if she should be suspicious or not, but didn't see any harm in replying vaguely, "Sometimes. ..is everything okay?"
Dany shrugged and took a sip of her drink. "I have these weird dreams sometimes," she replied. "But that life I have in my dreams is just as hard as this one. It's something more, but not something better."
"There's the potential for better in mine. Different, but better. More interesting." Tyra shrugged, reaching out to brush some hair away from Dany's face. "I've always felt a little...like my potential isn't realized."
"Of course it hasn't been," Dany replied, her eyes a light. "Because our system is corrupt. They wouldn't let you do what you were born to do."
"I don't even know what I was born to do!"
"Don't you?" Dany asked. "I just meant.. the Corps, they wouldn't let you.." She hesitated. "I'm sorry."
"It was the closest I could get," Tyra replied. "It's all right. I'm making a difference now."
"Yeah," Dany nodded. "You definitely are." She heaved a sigh and finished the rest of her drink. Then she dug into her purse a pulled out a piece of paper and a pen. She wrote down her number and slid it to Shepard. "Call me?" she asked, putting her purse over her shoulder.
"You have to go?" She took the card, slipping it into her shirt pocket, and gave Dany her best pout.
"It's getting a little too dark for me," Danny admitted. "Which is completely my fault, but I'm afraid if I sit here any longer you won't want to call me," she said.
"I can think of a few ways to lighten the conversation," She replied, smiling. "Most of them don't even involve words."
"Oh really?" Dany replied, a little of that blush returning to her cheeks. "Why don't you show me then?"
"Why don't we go back to your place?" Tyra took Dany's hand and kissed her wrist, "So I can show you."
"Roommates," Dany replied, with a pout. "They get pissy when I bring people home. Not that I do it often, I don't.. it's just.." she was getting a little flustered. "Can we go to yours?" she replied as she reached up to move some of Shepard's hair out of her face.
Shepard did not bring women home, but she was a little lonely and Dany was a lot convincing, "Alright. As long as I don't sound desperate." Shep grinned.
Dany gave Shepard a bright smile and took her hand in her own."Lead the way," she said.
