Jane couldn't believe it. She had just said yes to a stranger she had pretty much just met, on the internet of all places, coming over to her apartment on a Friday night. She looked up at the moon from where she lay on the recliner she had placed on her roof. She had set it up here the first night she had arrived in the city, before she had even unpacked her towels or the kettle. She needed to know she had this area set up and ready for sky-watching when she finished unpacking. It had become almost like a compulsion for her - no matter where she stayed she had to know she had a sanctuary to retreat to before anything else was set up.
The full moon was especially beautiful tonight. It was directly opposite the sun, having been eclipsed on Wednesday night, and that made it seem to look bigger and brighter than any other time. She found a great deal of solace in the stars; always had, and now she had said yes to something reckless she needed the centre they provided her to quell the butterflies growing in her stomach. She'd never been one to shy away from something because it was scary or challenging, so this wasn't exactly new to her and truth be told, she kind of enjoyed the slight buzz it gave her.
She sighed heavily and got up, throwing the journal she had been holding on to the recliner behind her. Running her fingers through her hair she made her way over to the edge of roof to lean on the half-wall and look out over the street. He'd be here soon.
