Who: Shepard and Liara
What: Shepard decides to elope
When: Uh. Last week sometime?
Where: Shepard’s place, then on the way to the airport
Status: Complete
Rating: PG-13
Shepard had rushed home, thrown a white dress and a tux in a suitcase (she wasn’t sure yet what she was wearing) as well as her naughtiest lingerie. She packed her usual airplane survival kit in a carryon, and then grabbed a suitcase for Liara to pack when she got home.
Her dreams had been coming with increasing frequency, and saying goodbye to her bondmate had stirred such incredibly emotion in her that she absolutely could not wait. Not any more. She had to make Liara hers. Blue or not.
Liara had made as many excuses as it took to come home immediately. If Shepard wanted to elope, she was more than willing... what better way to continue embracing eternity than to take that step they never managed in their dreams?
True, there’d been that matter of intergalactic war, but part of her felt Shepard would’ve asked once things calmed down. Or maybe even during the middle of a fight, knowing her... either way, it would’ve been just as incredible.
“I haven’t kept you waiting too long, have I?”
Shepard looked around at the luggage. "No. What gives you that idea?" She came over, kissing Liara soundly then guiding her towards her luggage. Not to rush her or anything, but she wanted to be on that plane yesterday!
Liara arched an eyebrow, even as she allowed Shepard to... well, shepherd her. She’d get the packing dealt with quickly as she could, just because she could practically sense her lover’s impatience.. “Just a feeling, that’s all.”
"I just..the dreams have been very insistent lately, and I don't know if I live or die." She turned, resting her hands on Liara's shoulders, before realizing that would impede her ability to pack. So she let go and stepped back.
"I don't want to waste a minute."
“Shepard, this is you we’re talking about. You can survive practically anything...” And when she couldn’t, there were always people like Miranda around to put her back together. The universe needed its heroes, after all.
"When you put it that way, I believe you." Shepard snuck a kiss, then grabbed suitcases and packs to throw into the humvee. She needed to txt Garrus, but she could do that if Liara was driving.
And Liara driving would get them to the airport alive.
Liara driving was clearly the only sane option. If they’d let Shepard even think of it, the entire city might’ve ended up being leveled by her... unique brand of impatience.
She packed a few things quickly, picking out things she knew tended to make her lover’s brain explode, and headed down to hand it over. “I don’t know if I should be thankful you didn’t choose to take the Mako or not...”
Impatience that was made only worse by her incredible lack of patience today. "I left it at the Ranch. Figure it's safer there. But if it'll get us hitched quicker, we can swing by."
Tyra gave Liara a big smile. "Straight up the Sierra Nevadas for our honeymoon."
She threw everything into the truck and gave Liara the keys.
“...I think it can stay at the Ranch. We really only need it if we’re planning to run through a mountain...” Or over it, in defiance of all logic. How that thing even worked still baffled Liara on a few levels, long after it’d vanished from her dreams.
"I love you. Now start driving." Shepard kissed her, then hopped into the hummer. She texted Garrus, fully expecting him to somehow magically beat her to Boston. But that was okay. She was going to enjoy the flight with Liara. And if she had her way, enjoy the flight.
Considering Liara quite often agreed with Shepard’s more unique schemes, she’d probably end up making very sure her lover enjoyed the flight. In as many ways, and as many times, as possible.
She got into the hummer, quickly setting things up and starting the engine. Shepard was truly lucky she knew how to drive this thing... “If anyone beats us there, I think we’re allowed to call shenanigans.”
