Who: Weasley family + honorary family
What: Thanksgiving Holiday
When: Thanksgiving
Where: The Weasley home (Or, as Fred just decided to call it: THE MOTHERLAND.)
Rating: PG (?)
Status: Incomplete

When Molly Weasley was having a family-type get together, it was always best to arrive as early as possible, so that she wouldn't look put out with you if you didn't at least pretend to offer to help.

Fred would have liked to have said that he arrived late on Wednesday evening because he was just that helpful, but there was no fooling Molly in that regard. He was really there because he knew that Thanksgiving breakfast was just as good as Thanksgiving dinner.

George was stuck closing the shop tonight, so all alone, Fred made pleasantries with his parents, picked through the refrigerator until he got yelled at, and then decided it was time to poke around the house a bit. With any luck, some of his other siblings were already hanging about.

"Oi, Fred Weasley is that you?" Ginny asked as she jumped the last few stairs and landed on her feet with a soft thud. Homework had gotten unusually dull, if that was even possible, and she had decided to go see who was hanging around downstairs. She had heard someone.

She messed up her brother's hair as she walked passed to him and reached for the candy in the dish someone had stashed away probably hoping no one would notice. "Let me guess, you came to raid the fridge?" It's usually why her brothers showed up outside Ron.

"Well well, if it isn't the family star," Fred said teasingly, waggling his eyebrows at her. When had Ginny gotten so adult-ish? There was still a time when he could remember her not being able to reach the top of his head.

"You know it," he agreed, picking through the candy dish, as well. "But Mum's already slapped my wrist for it. Bit quicker than I expected." Then again, they both knew full-well that if they looked sad about it long enough, there would probably be a pie to partake in before the end of the night.

Ginny gave him an elaborate spin as if to show off a bit. "That would be me!" She told him with a laugh as she popped a piece of candy into her mouth. It was easy at home to forget her day job when she was skipping around in sweats and a tank.

"Give her puppy eyes and tell her you haven't had time or money to eat and she'll cave," with Ginny it was all about strategy. "But when she does remember your favorite sister likes pie and sweets too." Ginny had always helped bake it all so if anyone was entitled to eat early it was her.

"You've certainly become a bit conniving, haven't you?" said Fred, as if he didn't know that already, and as if he was not the person who had taught her to be in the first place.

"We'll do that later," he agreed anyway. "But for now I'll take catching up to my favorite sister." Giving up on poking through the candy dish, he decided to grab the entire bowl -- that way he could pick what he liked at his own leisure.

A grin graced the features of Ginny's face, "Learned from the best." Her brothers were some of the best when it came to being ingenious and conniving. "Don't act like you're not proud of who I am."

She attempted to snatch the candy bowl back even though she could just go dig the bag out of the cupboard. Their mum always kept the sweets in the same place though she thought it would have changed by now; the sweets always disappeared quickly.

"How about you tell me what you've been doing. I feel like you dropped of the face of the earth. Ron is the only one I talk to or see a lot of any more."

Sometimes Ron had an uncanny ability to show up whenever his name was mentioned, out of nowhere. As soon as Ginny said his name was one of those times. He came out of his room grinning like an idiot and rubbing his belly like he was ready to eat.

"What's that? I heard you say my name," he asked.

"Well, it's just been all the shop, you kn--" Of course then, Ron would pop out when his name was called. "Oi, Ron," Fred said in greeting, whilst raising a brow at his little brother. "Wotcher?"

Ginny plucked the wrapper off a piece of chocolate and popped it into her mouth unceremoniously. Others would have hated coming from a large family but she found, most days, she loved it. Maybe it was because she was the only girl or maybe it was because she got along so well with most of her brothers.

"I was telling Fred how all our brothers, except you, have crawled under a rock and disappeared. How we feel so unloved without their constant bossing around and shenanigans." It wasn't a complete lie either.

Ron grinned at that. He was proud of his family and loved them more than anything in the entire world, but he would never really admit it. He didn't always know how to do the whole 'emotions' thing.

"Well, someone's got to watch out for you lot," Ron replied cheekily. The truth was that Ron had no desire to move out from under Molly's roof where he was fed three home cooked meals a day.

Fred rolled his eyes and shook his head. "Oh Ron, we're on to you," he teased, slipping past his brother to peek into one of the rooms in the hallway -- he hadn't been here in a while and he wanted to make sure that Molly hadn't completely revamped the place.

"Anyone else here yet?" he asked, glancing over his shoulder at his younger siblings.

"Just Mum and Da," Ron replied with a shrug. "I'm going to go check on Mum in the kitchen. Maybe she'll let me taste something." Ron: always thinking with his stomach.
