Who: Annie Cresta What: A bad dream, the 70th Hunger Games reaping & mentoring. When: The same night as Finnick's Dream. Where: Her apartment Rating: PG Status: Complete
Annie was used to having bad dreams. They'd started as soon as she started working with the stylist team. It was all anxiety, she knew that, but that didn't mean that it didn't get to her. She had a hard time falling asleep anytime she was a part from Finnick and then when she slept it was restless. Sometimes she would wake up in the middle of the night in a sweat, but tonight was different. Tonight she didn't have a dream about failing at her job or her boss yelling at her. Tonight she dreamt something that seemed all too real.
She was standing in a line up with other girls her age. Everyone was dressed so nicely, waiting for something to happen with the justice building as a backdrop. Annie didn't recognize this place, but somehow she felt at home there. The next part of the dream was a lot of information she couldn't, or didn't want to, process entirely. There had been a war and her District, District 4, had been on the losing side. To keep all of the Districts in line they had The Hunger Games every year, reaping one boy and one girl from every district. There would be only one victor. Annie didn't entirely understand the video, but she was terrified of her name being called.
Annie Cresta.
And there it was. Her name. And another. A boy, her friend from school. The next 30 minutes went by in a flash. There was sobbing, seeing her mother and father for the last time and then the train ride to the capitol. The only thing that helped to calm Annie was the fact that Finnick was there and she recognized him, but this dream version of her didn't seem to know him at all and thought he was a jerk. How could Finnick be so cruel to her?
Things between Finnick and Annie didn't get much better over the course of the dream, but Annie found she had fond feelings towards Mags, her other mentor. Mags was an elderly lady who was amazing at tying a knot. She was the one who told Annie to run and hide. There was no other way for Annie to make it out of the arena. They all knew it.
