A lot of things that Auntie Bella did creeped her out.
Who: Bellatrix and Pansy What: An impromptu visit When: Uh... before Halloween? Where: Pansy’s Room Status: Complete! Rating: PG-13 for swan fucking horse statues
Playing nice with the family would only serve Bellatrix good, so she decided to bring Pansy something to eat, and a present. Draco didn't seem to be around, so she would have to leave his present behind if she didn't see him.
Of course, from Bellatrix, a present could be anything from some book, to a dress, to a really weird artifact.
Today was really weird artifact. It was a statue, of what looked like a swan sodomizing a horse.
Pansy was in her bedroom doing homework with her headphones on. She didn’t hear the knock at the door, but it swung open to admit Bellatrix to her bedroom. Pansy had learned from a young age to keep things tidy, so the room was impeccable.
Bellatrix's eyes roamed around the room. It had that neatness that seemed to characterize a household in her family. Perhaps that was one reason she delighted in breaking things when she had a rage fit.
They settled on Pansy and a smirk crossed her lips, "Darling, Auntie is here!"
At the sound of the voice, Pansy pulled her headphones off and turned around. She broke into a small, somewhat forced, but still nice smile. Auntie Bella was family, afterall. And normally brought her presents!
“Hi, Aunite Bella.” She said, pulling up out of her chair to greet her mother’s sister. “What a surprise! I didn’t know you were coming by today.”
"I thought I'd surprise you, Lovey!" Bellatrix laughed, and entered the room, putting the box down on the bed, and the food on the table. It was from a food chain not known for it's godliness, but Bella was feeling rebellious.
“Well, consider me surprised.” Pansy said, smiling. She watched Auntie put the things down, then leaned over to give her a one-armed hug. Awkward at best. “What’s all this?” She asked, motioning toward the things Bella had just put down on her bed and desk.
There was pretty much another reason that Bellatrix had stopped by: She was in an exceptional mood. A new outfit from Lulu, along with the rather heated encounter with her had put Bellatrix into a better place than she'd been since her problems with Caprica had started.
Bellatrix grinned wickedly, "Food, and a present. I feel like shocking your mum."
“I’m sure Mum will be completely shocked.” Pansy said with a smile. “Don’t take my confusion for unappreciation, though,” she grinned a bit more brightly. “I love presents.”
"Well open it up!" Bellatrix said cheerfully, picking up the present and holding it out, "It's a statue!"
Of a swan buggering a horse, don't ask where she got it. Just don't.
Pansy grinned as she took the package, then opened it. Her grin fell just a little. “Oh, Auntie... you shouldn’t have.” Really.
"I just knew you'd love it," She said, though the grin on her face indicated she didn't really believe Pansy loved it, and didn't really care, "Put it somewhere prominent, and take a picture of Cissy's face."
Pansy wasn’t sure where she was going to put the thing. She wasn’t sure she even wanted to be touching it. “Mum’s going to freak out when she sees that you got me some sort of... fertility statue.”
"They're both male," Bella said helpfully. "The horse is a stallion see?"
Even trying to hold back the grin was too much, and she doubled over laughing. Cissy would probably pitch a fit, but it would be worth it.
Pansy wasn’t sure if that made things better. She gave a little nod, and then quickly set the thing down on her bookcase. “I’ll find a spot for it... later.” She wasn’t sure what her mother would say. Probably something along the lines of ‘get that out of my house’ and then Pansy would have to hide it in her closet and bring it out again every time Auntie Bella came over.
Thus was the revenge of aunts. Bellatrix plopped down on the edge of the bed, "Have you heard your mum's new album?" She didn't really like it, but then, she didn't like most music, but she tried to pretend for Cissy's sake. She owed her that much.
“Yeah, it’s all right.” Pansy said. Not exactly her cup of tea, but she supported her Mum as best she could. “I wonder if she’s going to go on a tour or something. It would make sense, wouldn’t it? Promote the new album?”
"Think she'll drag you and your brother along? She's been trying to push Draco's vocal talent." She scowled, muttering, "Continuing the family tradition." In the Black family, you didn’t get to choose your own destiny.
Louder, she said, "And what have you been up to, lovey?"
“No, I wouldn’t go. I’m an adult now, I’m in college. I’ve got my own stuff going on. Can’t take that much time off of school.” Pansy replied. “I doubt Draco would go. He’s going to school, too.”
Bellatrix nodded her head. She thought as much, and she was rather glad for it, "Fame doesn't last, lovey. Always have an out." She shrugged her shoulder. Even if Cissy blew all of her money from her music, there was always the family to fall back on.
“I’m not planning on being famous, either.” Pansy said, shaking her head a little. She moved to plop down in her chair at her desk. “It may be find for Mum, but I’m not interested.” Pansy would be content to be an academic, or a writer, or a teacher maybe. But not spend any more time than absolutely necessary in the spotlight.
Bellatrix smiled, the expression a little grim, and a little crazy, "In this family, if you don't seek fame, you help those who do. I suspect you'll learn that in time, dearie."
She laughed, the sound shrill and not at all like the sort of lovely laugh that certain people could get out of her. Pansy, evidently, wasn't one of them.
Pansy nodded. The laugh startled her, though, and creeped her out a little. A lot of things that Auntie Bella did creeped her out. Her eyes moved from her Aunt to the gift sitting on her bookcase of the stallion and the swan, then down to the floor.
What to say now? She couldn’t think of anything for a long moment.
“...I really should finish my homework.”
"You do that. I think I'll head downstairs and surprise your mother with lunch!" Bella hopped to her feet, giddily. "Don't strain yourself." And with that, she swept out the door!
