Who:Dick and Clark What:Valentines day When:Feb 14th Where: Their place Warnings:mushy couple stuff. But pg-13 at best.
He’d seen talk of valentines day on the network, but hadn’t actually spoken up about it yet. Honestly Dick wasn’t entirely sure how. When he really thought about it, had they even had a date yet? Was that normal? He’d moved in under duress but had been asked to stay when he was of a sound mind but they hadn’t even officially been on a date. He was bad at that.
Dick wasn’t even sure how to approach that subject, so he dove into his work at hand. Scrolling through several properties for sale on his phone. Doing a bit of research. He hadn’t bought anything yet, but he was window shopping so to speak as he sat on their bed. He’d seen a few properties he liked as Nightwing the other night, and a couple were actually up for sale. It was a good distraction.
Valentine's Day was something that Clark actually liked. Those closest to him knew that. Dick was still learning when it came to him, so he probably didn't know that quite yet. This would actually be their first valentines together as well. Something that the Kryptonian would've never thought he'd have.
He'd visited his cousin for a bit and had gotten the lead lined glasses. Something that he wasn't too entirely sure if he'd be able to handle or not. Though, if they worked and kept the laser vision at bay for the time being, then so be it. However, when he comes into the house it's a bit quiet. Save for the beat of Dick's heart.
"You enjoying yourself, Dick?" He calls out, more teasing than anything else.
Dick was awkward about holidays at best. He didn’t know how to approach them with anyone. Christmas was a first for him, usually he didn’t enjoy it but because he had Clark it wasn’t half bad. Valentine's day was never a thing he’d done. Ruby hadn’t been into it, so they didn’t play it up.
He almost didn’t hear Clark until the door shut and then the voice clicked in. He’d been focused on buildings and prices. “Oh yeah, I’m looking at all kinds of filthy images without you.” He responded in return as he stood and went downstairs, holding up his phone of a pretty dirty building that had come up in his search. It was practically condemned.
Luckily, for Dick, the Kryptonian was an awkward one too. Last time he'd celebrated Valentine's Day had been with his best friend, Chloe. That had been before the man that lived with him came into his life. Eventually? He'd have to tell Dick that he's told Chloe all about him. After all, best friend prerogative and all.
"Is that what you were doing?" Clark asks before seeing the picture on the phone, shaking his head and trying not to laugh. "Filthy indeed. Looks like it needs a lot of work done to it." He gives a smile before leaning in and kissing him," So, Kara gave me a set of lead lined glasses. She said that they would actually help with the whole heat vision thing." He wasn't sure what to think of it, though.
"I have never worn glasses and I'm not sure how I feel about it either."
Dick still couldn’t help but be just a little jealous hearing about someone else being his best friend now. Even if he had this slot too, so he’d dropped it after the post. He did that when things were bothersome usually. It wasn’t a great quality but he didn’t want to fight over inconsequential stuff just to fight. “Mhm. I saw it the other night.” He mentioned with a shrug. Technically he could have afforded all of those buildings, but that didn’t mean he wanted to throw money away. “I think it’s basically condemned.” He made a face as he slid the phone in his pocket and returned that kiss. “Getting used to this you know. Being greeted with kisses.”
“Oh? Lets see then.” He was used to Clark with glasses, it was all he’d ever known really. The fact that he was without them had been a little strange at first.
If Clark knew just how jealous Dick was, he'd do what he could to assure him there was nothing there. After all, the Kryptonian wasn't jealous of Raven or Donna when he could've been. He actually liked the girls that were a part of Dick's life. Besides, the man before him had the better title. He'd gone from best friend to boyfriend. Chloe was a young woman that he'd grown up with. Besides, she was still back home and not in the OC.
"You don't need condemned buildings," he teases with a bit of a chuckle before kissing him again. "I thought you were already used to being greeted with kisses and hugs?" There's a smile on those lips as he says it before he makes a face at the thought of Dick wanting to see him with glasses on.
Though, it doesn't stop him from pulling out the lead lined glasses and putting them on.
“I thought I could fix it up, but I don’t want that much of a project.” He made a face as he thought about it a little more. The price tag savings on it was promising, but he didn’t want to hire a bunch of people either. “I’m getting there. The reminders are nice though.” He only smiled more into that second kiss, fingertips touching his forearm as they rested there for a moment.
Taking a step back to properly look at them, he gave him a look as though he really had to think about his response and then smiled. “They suit you. “ He complimented as he leaned in this time, initiating a kiss. This one a little more firm than the others had been.
"You'd have to be away from me for a very long time," he teases him. "Especially if you had to put a lot of work into that project." Though, Dick should've known that if he needed help then he'd have it. The Kryptonian would put his super strength into good use, after all.
He kisses him back once the other initiates the kiss, giving a soft sound into it," You really think so?" He'd never really thought much about the idea of glasses. "So, I what? Suddenly have bad eye sight?" It's asked teasingly before he leans into the other, hands resting at his sides.
“Like having me home when you get in do you?” He grinned, not that he minded being a house husband. But it would be nice to have a project.”It would be a fixer upper. I’m not sure the price tag will amount to the work it needs. I’ll have to do some math and find out but we’ll see.” A smirk crept over his own lips. “Though if I was, it could be you visiting me at work.” He was amused at the idea, since he often visited Clark currently.
He enjoyed being able to draw those sounds from him. Dick had far more experience in that area than his boyfriend did, he didn’t mind passing on the knowledge at all. “I do, I’ve actually only ever known you with glasses. I mean unless you showed up in tights.” He snickered as he rested his hand on his arm again as they held him. “It makes you look sophisticated.” At least he assumed that’s what sophisticated people looked like in his mind. He’d always looked up to Clark, so it’d worked on him as a little kid. It worked as an adult too.
"I love having you home when I get in," he tells him. That? It was one of the things that Clark loved about coming home. It wasn't to a quiet house. No, it was to the sound of Dick's heartbeat and to his breathing. The sounds that he made when he was off doing something else, even if it was just scrolling through his phone. He can't help but give a bit of a grin," Well, that's true. I would be visiting you at work. I could even possibly bring you lunch."
He leaves the glasses on and raises a brow at the mention of tights," Unless I show up in tights?" It was kind of hilarious to even think about. "Sophisticated, huh? I rather like that."
“And you know what, for once I don’t mind being at home for that.” He knew Clark was coming home, it gave him a reason to want to be there. His own house had been that quiet, almost kind of empty place. There wasn’t really anything personal or homey about it. Half the time he’d hated being there when he got off work. It was why he spent so much time at the office usually. That, and being a detective wasn’t a nine to five. “Yep, underwear on the outside tights.” He teased with a bit of amusement. “I think so.” He nipped at his lower lip as he looked up at him.
“I still might browse a little, maybe for something a step above condemned.” He grinned as he kissed his jawline. “Maybe I’ll bring you along. You’re home now right?” Hell it was valentines day, if he wasn’t there would be a pretty sulky bat person in his arms. Even if he didn’t know how to voice it.
"I'm glad that you don't mind." It's said softly even as he leans into Dick a bit. Last thing that the Kryptonian would want was for the other man to be there, but not want to be. He wasn't one to hold anyone captive. That wasn't the way that he worked. "Yeah, I know what it looks like. I have my suit." Which was locked in the pod the last he checked. Where he'd put it.
He gives a bit of a smile," Well, whenever you find what you're looking for." The building would be just fine and he would help where he could. "I'm home. You've still got me for another ten days or so." Before he had to do the mandatory days.
The only part that sucked was him being gone so often. He hadn’t realized until recently how much he wanted to be around him. All the time. "You should try it on sometime. I want to see it." Clark had shown him, but not on him yet. As he leaned in, Dick closed any gaps between them. He wanted to be in his arms forever like that. He felt safe there.
"I missed you." he admitted, sure he found ways to keep busy but it wasn't the same. When Clark was home, he'd find Dick rarely left his side.
There were days where the Kryptonian nearly decided to quit the job that he loved. Find a better one, where he could help people. Not that he was sure what was out there that would let him do something like that. He wraps his arms around Dick's waist when those arms wrap around him. "Maybe tomorrow." He didn't feel like messing with his space pod at the moment. Or putting on the superman outfit.
"I missed you too," he says, giving him a soft smile and kissing him. "So, what did you have planned for us today?" It's a bit teasing even as he leans his forehead against the other man's.
Dick would never try to sway him away from the job he loved. He just missed him. He was pretty sure Clark wouldn’t try to make him not be Nightwing, so who was he to try to make him abandon the job he loved too? His lips curved into a smirk as he responded “I’ll remind you.” He wasn’t going to get out of trying that suit on, no matter how he tried.
The kiss deepend a little, and he almost whined as he pulled away. “Well, I did happen to see it was Valentines day. Buuut I’m really bad at planning that stuff so maybe we can look at some things together if you aren’t too tired?” He nipped his lower lip with a teasing sort of smile. “Or we could just do a lot more of this. But in a more horizontal position.”
No, Clark would never try to make Dick not be Nightwing. It might mean that he worried more or listened to the city more when he was out there, but he wouldn't stop the other from it. Not when it was something that his boyfriend enjoyed doing. "I'm sure that you will," he says with a bit of a chuckle.
"You'll have to learn some time," he teases. Valentines day was a day that the Kryptonian actually enjoyed. Even if all it meant was chocolates and some silly romcom, or going out for a stroll. "We can sit down and look at things together. If I was too tired, I'd be in bed already." Though, he does blush a bit," You just want to get me laying down." It comes out a bit teasing even as he nips his bottom lip.
He fell for Clark when he was a fireman and that hadn’t changed. He’d love him no matter what he did, it just meant they looked out for the other more. “Iron lock memory.” He tapped his own temple with an amused look. But he wasn’t actually kidding. When it came to the people in his life anyway, he remembered everything. With his own memories he was still missing a few, but it was probably for the better.
“Or you can just help me and ease my suffering.” He mused as he kissed him again at that little nip. “You say those things like they’re bad things.” Dick grinned just above his lips as he leaned into his arms. He could stay there all day long and be content.
"So, I've noticed," Clark teases him. He knew how good Dick's memory could be. Which meant that the other would remember things that the alien wouldn't. Which didn't bother him any, not really. He was glad that one of them would remember the important things. Or the silly things like the superman suit.
"Why would I want to ease your suffering?" He asks wrapping his arms around him, keeping him held close. This? It was definitely the best damn way to stay. He'd hold him forever if he could.
There were reasons he'd become a detective in the first place. Dick could remember details others could not. It was part of the reason being trapped in the jail had been so terrifying for him. "Because if you don't, I'll sulk." he threatened as he reluctantly nudged out of his arms for a minute to take his hand and lead him to a near by couch.
Dick gently backed him into sitting on it so he could slide in his lap facing him. "Better?" had to be more comfortable than standing. "I've never done this holiday really." his last partner wasn't into it.
"You'll sulk?"
His boyfriend did know that things like that didn't affect him, right? Between his brother and some of the kids that he saved, as well as ruly adults, that kind of thing didn't affect him too much. He does, however, let himself be led to the couch and sits down.
Wrapping arms around Dick once the other was in his lap, he grins," Much better." As for the holiday thing," I can't remember a time where I've never done anything holiday related."
Clark had to be tired of standing by now. “You heard me. I’m pretty much a champion at it too.” He may have had his brother, and others around but he’d yet to see Dick sulk. It wasn’t a card he often pulled. Using it too often meant it was less effective. But in cases like this? He’d threaten in any case.
He smiled at the arms around him and kissed him gently. “Never? So you’re into this stuff?” Dick hadn’t been so much, but growing up an orphan didn’t allow many holidays. They were just another day of the week for him until he was grown enough to have love interests even then it mostly just meant a night in. “What are some things you did?”
"I've never seen anyone that was a champion at something like that." His tone is a bit teasing even as he says it. Honestly, there were probably people out there who were champion at the small, trivial things. Things like that.
He kisses him back and gives a soft smile," I am into this stuff. As for what are some things I did, it depends. Pick a holiday and I'll be able to tell you."
"That's because it's me. I'm the only one." he smirked. Dick liked the fact that his boyfriend was into holidays and such. Everyone else around him wasn't really. He brushed a thumb against his jawline gently as he nipped at his lower lip teasingly.
"Well, this one. Valentines. Tell me what you do for it." was it really as simple as just buy candy and potentially sexy time or was it more? He had no idea. "I don't know beyond what the movies say. Chocolate and porn basically." he grinned, though he was teasing about the porn. Mostly.
He can't help but give a bit of a smile to that smirk. He leans into the touch a bit. The Kryptonian wasn't going to come on Dick being the only one. Actually, he probably was. It's not like people tried to get their way with Clark often, or at all. He was too much of a goody good for that. He also had morals and didn't pay attention to anyone but who he was with.
Clark kisses him and rubs his hands up and down his sides," Candy, movies, dinner and possibly sexy times."
His thumb gently brushes against the skin as he watches him warmly. "It's been two months now, you know." people usually had some kind of anniversary or something. He wasn't great at remembering trivial days normally, but with Clark he was happy to. It wasn't trivial at all. Clark had brought him out of a severely dark place.
Arms went around his neck as he was kissed and he smiled into it, teasing him just a little. "Saying I might finally get you in bed, huh?" maybe this holiday wasn't so bad.
"It has been."
Clark, when it came to dates, was normally pretty good at keeping track. Whether it be on his phone or written down on a calendar. Even if the dates were in his head too. It was interesting, and a bit weird, to think that he actually had an anniversary of any sort. It was something that Conner would probably, eventually, tease him about.
"Weirder things have happened on holidays," he teases right back, giving a bit of a smirk.
“Maybe we should actually go on an official date at some point.” He suggested with a bit of a laugh. Though the casual romance they had was pretty nice too, it meant no unnecessary nerves-but on occasion it might be nice to show him off a bit. Not that he minded being inside either, but a change of scenery was usually a good thing.
“Think I might like this holiday thing.” He’d always been a bit sour toward holidays. They were a little hard on him, watching other people be happy when he didn’t think he deserved the same thing for a long time.
"We should go on an official date. Dinner and a movie," he tells him, smile on those lips. They didn't get out much with his job, but he had no qualms letting the world know about them. They didn't have to, but it would be nice. After all, he wasn't ashamed of his relationship with Dick and he knew the other wasn't ashamed of it. Otherwise, he'd of left long before now.
"Mmm... good. Because I'm going to spoil you on the holidays," he says softly before kissing him again. "For now, though, dinner and a movie. Candy. Snuggling and laying in bed together."
