Alex had told Maria that Kyle was back in town and Maria knew that she needed to get them all to hang out together at some point. The stars finally aligned and Alex mentioned that he had a surprise to tell them both about. Maria suggested a local restaurant that had an outdoor patio because she definitely needed some drinks in the sun. It had been a very long February already and having a relaxing afternoon with her friends sounded delightful. She sent the info via text in their group chat and set a time for after she finished up band practice.

She hitched her purse up on her shoulder as she walked from her car to the restaurant. She was the first one there, which didn't surprise her because 'typical boys', so she approached the hostess stand and got lead out to a table on the patio that way she could flag them down when they showed up. While she waited though she opened up the drink menu and started trying to figure out what she wanted first.

At the greeting Maria looked up and gave Kyle a bright smile, "Hey Doctor, how are ya?" While she and Kyle hadn't been best friends by any means during high school they had gotten along well enough. It had been nice getting to know him more after college and it was pretty impressive to see him go from cop to doctor.

She kicked a chair with her foot to push it out a bit so that Kyle could grab it and sit down, "Waiting on Alex."

And speak of the devil suddenly a car pulled up and Maria recognized Alex in the driver's seat. She waved back to him and then furrowed her brow as he went around to the back to open a door. And suddenly an adorable dog came out and Maria let out a squeal of delight, barely keep it together to stay seated until he came over with the dog.

"Been doing pretty good. How've you been holding up?" Kyle asks giving her a smile in turn, sitting down in the chair that she'd kicked out. It felt good to sit down and relax for once. Not worrying about whether or not he'd be called into work. Well, that wasn't true. He could still get called into work at any time. The joys of being a doctor. Something that he hoped didn't happen.

"Of course we're waiting on Alex."

His best friend would be late all the time if he could, he's sure. Though, he raises a brow when he sees his best friend show up and go towards the back door of the car. Who or what was he hiding? Honestly, he was probably in the same boat as Maria in that moment.

However, that worry went out the window and he couldn't help but grin, even more so at Maria's squeal of delight," Hi there, River."

"Finally felt like the time was right," Alex said as he sat down. River sniffed at both Maria and Kyle, then sat. Alex patted her head. "I saw this beautiful girl and knew she was the one for me," he added.

The waitress came over to get his drink order, and offered to get a bowl of water for the dog. Alex grinned at Maria. "I'm glad we picked this place. It's like you knew we needed a dog friendly establishment."

"Riiiiiver, you are my new best friiiiend," Maria sing-songed to the dog as she got out of her chair to move closer and crouched down to pet the adorable puppy after letting River sniff her.

"Congrats, Alex. I know this is a big deal and I really only picked this place because I wanted to eat outside," Maria admitted with a laugh as she sat back in her chair and started to look at the menu.

	"Of course you saw her and thought that," he teases before shaking his head, reaching over and letting River get his scent before petting her. He can't help but smile a bit, though. Especially at Maria's reaction. He gives a smirk to his best friend. "Looks like River's stealing Maria and vice versa now. We should've known this was going to happen." 	"Mimi may be worse about it and will totally try to steal your girl away from you," Maria countered with a laugh, "She's been pretty perked up lately at the idea of a dog coming in to the house, so that's nice." He can't help but give a bit of a chuckle when they go on about Mimi stealing the dog away. Somehow? He wasn't all that surprised. Not that he even remembered the last time he'd seen Mimi DeLuca. Damn, it had been that long. "Gotta face it, Alex, you're just downright doomed," he teases. "So, what have you two been up to?" Other than the dream bullshit that he'd only dealt with once or twice.

"I know it," Alex said. he reached down to scritch River behind the ears. "Sorry about your luck, girl. You're going to be spoilt rotten," he said with a laugh. "Other than adopting her, you know. Same old same old." Which meant avoiding his father and his brothers, which was thankfully pretty easy since they rarely ventured to Alex's side of town. Which was why Alex liked this side of town.

"Yeah, not a whole lot going on. Working with my new band, helping Mom out at the shop, and wishing these dreams would go away," Maria had to admit that aloud. At least they were all in it together, but man it would be great if they just suddenly stopped.

The drinks were brought over and Maria placed an order for a random appetizer off the menu because she wasn't sure what she wanted for a meal yet, she hadn't looked at the menu fully with the excitement of River.

"Well, I knew there wasn't much going on with you," he teases looking towards Alex before shaking his head. Though, Maria's mention of the dreams has him frowning slightly. That wasn't something he was even remotely ready for. Much less with how Liz had been talking about things. "Luckily, I've only had the one dream so far. I don't want to even know what's in store yet."

He orders his own appetizer. There would be time to order real food, once they all figured that out.

Alex ordered his own appetizer, and since they all got something different figured they could share. And maybe he'd sneak a bite or two to River, though he wasn't going to make a habit of giving her table food.

"My dreams are so random. When they happen, I mean. It's been weeks since I had one. I'm really okay with that." Especially given how weird things were with Guerin both in the dreams and in their real lives.

"You're lucky that you've only had one," Maria narrowed her eyes in a glare at Kyle before breaking out into a smile. She couldn't stay mad at him because it wasn't his fault, "Yeah, the faith healer was a giant bust in my dreams so I'm still struggling with how to take care of my mother. I'm glad things are not as bad here, but it is probably a warning of what could come in the future."

That was the thing that Maria hated the most; the waiting for the other shoe to drop when it came to her mom, "So, Kyle, why haven't I seen you yet since you got back in town? You avoiding everyone who isn't Alex?"

Honestly? Kyle didn't want to know shit about the dreams. Not from any of them. It was weird enough that the cabin was there. Or what him and Alex had found in it. Which still caused his head to hurt a bit. Not that he'd been thinking about it. Faith healers? That wasn't something he believed in.

"I've been with dad or working. Being a surgeon has its rewards but holy hell, the hours," he says with a grin. Not that he's not unhappy with it. He loves his job. Anyone who knew him knew that. "Maybe we should find a way to do this more often. When I have an elusive day off. There are some days I don't get out until it's extremely late or at the ass crack of dawn. I'm not going to have your alls schedule all over the place just because mine is."

Maria thought she must have imagined that little glance that Alex spent on Kyle so she just shook her head.

"I guess I better go get myself in a hospital room if I want to hang out with you, "Maria's smile turned wide as she teased her friend, "We can definitely plan something in advance. You just need to make sure to put your foot down to ensure you have that actual day off."

"I know thaat, Alex," he says looking over at his best friend, giving him a bit of a smile, then looks towards Maria. "I don't want to ever see either of you in my hospital rooms. That's the last thing I need since I would just end up worrying myself to death." He did that enough with his old man.

"How about you and Alex pick a date and I'll make sure that I actually have that day off."

"Okay, I'll give you that point about stressing you out," Maria certainly didn't want to make that happen for poor Kyle. And honestly, going to the hospital was not her idea of a good time, "And I think we can handle doing that."

It would be nice to get something on the books. Thankfully the waitress came with their appetizers and took their orders for their entree. "You better be good with sharing," Maria commented since she and Alex usually stole food of each other's plates, but she wasn't sure how Kyle felt about it.
