Liz had heard of the term Galentine’s Day before, but had never had an opportunity to take part in it cause before moving back to Orange County she had never really had any very close female friends she wanted to celebrate with. Now however, she’s gotten the idea to plan something with Maria and Isobel after seeing a bunch of Galentine’s Day cards at the store.
After bringing up the idea to her best friend and boyfriend’s sister, they had started making plans and in the end decided on doing lunch then heading to the same spa they had all gone to for Maria’s birthday a few months earlier.
February thirteenth falling on a Saturday had been perfect because it was guaranteed that the three of them would be free and when that afternoon rolled around they all met at the restaurant and began catching up.
“I’m so glad we decided to do this,” Liz said after taking a sip of her drink, “I keep dreaming of us all being together, but then we’re so busy in real life that we hardly see each other.” Liz wanted to try and remedy that this new year.
Galentine’s Day was definitely much preferred to Valentine’s Day because Maria DeLuca was happily single and loved her friends way too much. When Liz brought up the idea she was definitely in and spent time before their big day finding cute gifts for her friends. Lunch and a spaw day was the perfect way to spend the day with two of her best friends.
At the restaurant she ordered them two bottles of wine knowing that split three ways that one wouldn’t be enough. They wouldn’t get too inebriated to drive, but they could at least have a little fun while eating. “I can’t believe we’re all having these strange dreams together, but I have to say I definitely like this life better than the craziness going on in Roswell,” Maria commented after taking a long sip of her wine.
Isobel wasn’t much of a joiner of late, her dreams seem to mess with her psyche, but they had settled down and so has she, which is why she agreed to join the two ladies. Plus she figured Max would lecture her on not getting out more and blah, blah, blah, so here she ws. “Yes,” she said to Maria comment, “I much prefer here too,” only because the woman didn’t really get along well in the dreams, where she and Maria seemed to love to hate each other.
“This is a brilliant idea,” she told Liz, plus it was nice to have something good following you are single awareness day shoved in her face. Isobel had planned to stay in her house and catch up on work, then set her schedule up for the week.
Liz nodded as well, “I can third that.” She said, setting her glass back down on the table, “Things might still be crazy here, but at least you know it’s not going to last long and things are going to go back to normal with very little lasting effects.” Unlike in the dreams where none of the bad things were reversed at the end of the week or however long the crazy things lasted for.
She glanced over at Isobel and smiled, “I just thought it would be a good excuse for the three of us to hang out.” And it would hopefully help to keep Liz’s mind off some of the crazier things in their dreams.
“Always up for an excuse to see you ladies,” Maria agreed with a smile. She knew that the dreams could transfer over powers, she had seen Michael’s, but she was hoping that wasn’t something that would affect her in the future. As far as she could tell she was just the token human who was there as a sounding board for everyone at the bar.
“So do you and Max have plans tomorrow?” Maria knew she and Is were single, but didn’t mean she couldn’t find out what her friend in a relationship was doing. She was definitely Team Max/Liz and glad the two of them had finally gotten together.
Isobel nodded her head in agreement, it was nice to hang out. She plastered on a smile, that didn’t quite reach her eyes, but she was trying. She arched a brow to Maria question, “why do you even ask?” she teased, “you know Max is a big ole romantic,” she wasn't sure where he got it from, because the rest of their family wasn’t.
“He will show up with the works,” her hand flicked out, “flower, chocolates, and a stuffed animal,” she chuckled, “not that’s a bad thing Liz. Just have to mock him for for it a little bit”
Liz couldn’t help but grin a little at the mention of Max and what he was likely to do the next evening. “Oh, I don’t doubt it. And yes, we do have plans, but I’m not going to divulge that information at this time.” Her grin turned to a smirk as she picked up her glass and took another sip of wine, “I don’t want to make anyone jealous.” Not that she thought that either of her friends were jealous of her, but Liz never wanted it to seem like she was rubbing it in anyone’s faces that she had a boyfriend while her friends were single. She always tried to be considerate even when she was asked point blank about her relationship.
“Well, you’re no fun,” Maria quipped at Liz with a chuckle. She didn’t mind hearing about what Liz and Max were up to since everyone had been rooting for them to get together for quite a while. Maria didn’t mind being single and very much preferred it sometimes when compared to dating total idiots like her last boyfriend, Chad. “I’m sure you two will have a very lovely time and I will be enjoying a date with my mom and plotting when I can go get discount candy.” That was the real win of Valentine’s Day, honestly.
Liz knew that Maria always enjoyed the details and chances were that she’d fill her best friend in more later on, but for now she was going to stay tight lipped about her plans and simply enjoy the rest of the afternoon as a girl’s day.
