Who: Raven Reyes and John Murphy
What: Being Adorable
Where: Their home
When: Earlier this month
Warnings: Nah
Status: Complete Gdoc

Thanksgiving at the Reyes Manor had been huge. It normally was when Madeline made the food. When that happened no one was allowed in the kitchen. Not that Raven cooked much anyway and she was fine with that. Even though she'd had Madeline teach her a few things. Just something for her to do since she couldn't walk around without much pain anymore. That was something that she was pretty sure she was stuck with. Dream injuries sucked.

They had the day to themselves and she felt like getting out of the house. Wanting to get some fresh air and just spend some time with her boyfriend. When she finds him downstairs, she moves over and kisses him before giving him a smile. Despite being in pain she was in a good mood. Probably covered in a little grease. Some streak that she'd missed along her cheek.

"Want to get out of the house?" She signs, eyes on him. "Or just sit around all day?"

“I wouldn’t be seen in public with you looking like that,” he signed, and gestured at the streak of grease that marked her cheek. His goofy grin should have communicated that he was joking. He didn’t really care if she was covered head to toe in grease, he would take her anywhere she wanted to go.

“What did you have in mind?” he asked immediately after.

She scrunches her nose up at him after a moment. "I see how you are," she signs to him. Though, there's a smile on her face whenever she says it. She knew good and well that it didn't matter how messy she was, her boyfriend still loved her and would even drag her out of the house if need be. Didn't stop her from grabbing a cloth to get the streak of grease off her cheek, even if she can't really see where its at.

"Maybe a walk to the park?"

“And a stop at the ice cream shop?” he asked. Because ice cream was a strong motivator for him. Not that he didn’t enjoy a walk with Raven even without, but it was a nice addition to include ice cream.

He took the cloth from her hands and used it to wipe the smear off her face. Honestly, grease stains were a norm for her. John didn’t mind it at all.

The grease, for the longest time, hadn't been a norm for her. Before the dreams and the dream injury, she'd been working on novels. Going out to different places around the world in order to do research. The dreams, ultimately, put a stop to that. If she really wanted to she could go back to it. However, the dreams had given her a new passion. Anything that dealt with mechanics. Especially dismantling things and repairing them. Engineering.

She lets him take the cloth from her and gives a bit of a smile," We can stop at the ice cream shop too. It's probably an ice cream type of day anyway."

That seemed so long ago, that John didn’t really give it a thought. The grease was a normal thing now. The lines between their real lives and the dreams was getting thinner, but he didn’t realise that either.

“I think so too,” John agreed, his hands flying through the signs. Honestly, the two of them had their own shorthand. He’d been the one to help her when she’d first lost her hearing, after all, so it made sense that they had developed a private shorthand that not even Julian was in on.

No matter how thin the lines between their real lives and the dreams were getting, Raven knew one thing. John Murphy would always be a part of her life. It didn't matter what the dreams threw at her. He was her ride or die. The man that she always wanted at her side.

"Then what're we waiting for?" She signs back, giving him a smile. "We're not getting any younger," she teases. She loved that they had their own shorthand. Loved that he'd taught her so much. It made being hearing impaired so much easier.

Honestly when he was with Raven he didn’t think about being deaf. He felt like any other guy, in love with an amazing woman. She was his heart and soul, the only one who even came close to rivaling her was his twin brother and that was a completely different relationship.

He stuck his tongue out at her and headed for the door, holding it open for her. He didn’t do that because of her nerve damage, he had always been a gentleman who held doors not just for her but for strangers too. He liked doing nice things like that for people. It made him feel good.

“After you,” he said with a sweep of his hand.

There were times that even she, herself, forgot that she was hearing impaired. She wouldn't even know what to do if she could actively hear again. It was weird enough hearing her own voice in the dreams. Though, she did love the sound of his voice. To her? It was an amazing thing.

She can't help but laugh when he sticks his tongue out at her and shakes her head, moving towards the door. Raven doesn't step out into the world just yet. No, she leans over and kisses John first, smile on those lips. Though, once she's out the door she offers him her arm. If she was being a bit silly, then so be it.

"I think this is a double mint chocolate chip type of day."

He’d take the silliness and match it with his own. He put his arm out to her, giving a gracious bow, acting like they were royalty or something. It wasn’t always practical to try to have a conversation when they were walking, and he was content to just walk with her.

It did feel like a double mint chocolate chip kind of day. Of course, if asked, he would say most days were perfect for double mint chocolate chip. Even if it wasn’t his favorite, it was her favorite and that was good enough for him.
