Who: Poe Dameron & Michael Guerin When: Backdated: Saturday, July 11th. Afternoon Where: Laguna Beach What: Cliff Diving Rating/Warnings: Family Friendly with the usual amount of flirting Status: Complete
Some would call Poe Dameron an adrenaline junkie and those people would be mostly right. After all, Poe willingly signed up to fly jets in potentially dangerous situations and learned quite a few tricks along the way, which most other people wouldn’t attempt on their best day. Not to mention he’d also flown a star fighter into space not knowing quite what he was in for.
So the fact that Poe also enjoyed things such as cliff diving shouldn’t have come as a surprise to anyone. It had been awhile since Poe had done it, which was one of many reasons he’d asked Michael if he wanted to join him. Another reason he’d invited Michael was because their first date had gone well so he’d figured why not try something else in the same vein?
After picking Michael up that afternoon, Poe had driven up towards a spot he knew, near Laguna Beach, that was a little less populated by other cliff divers. Reaching the area, he parked his car and glanced over at Michael and smirked, “Ready to do this?”
Michael wasn’t sure if Poe was considering this another date or not. The first one had been pretty nice, but he still wasn’t sure dating was his thing. As far as Michael was concerned they were just hanging out. Jumping off a cliff. Probably some kissing and whatever else. But not a date. Michael had to admit he was kind of excited about cliff diving though. He may not be a huge adrenaline junkie like Poe, but he did enjoy a good thrill.
“Hell yeah,” Michael said with a smirk to match Poe’s on his face as the other man parked the car. “So how many times have you done this before?” he asked as he got out of the car. While this was Michael’s first time, he knew Poe had gone cliff diving in the past. “Got any tips?”
Date or not, Poe was just looking forward to spending some time with Michael and was glad that he’d agreed to come out with him today, “Don’t hit any rocks,” Poe smirked before getting out of the car, “But this area is pretty safe, especially during high tide, which it is right now.” He brought a hand up to shield his eyes as he gazed out towards the spot they would be jumping off of and spotted only a few other people, “Basically just run and jump.” Poe glanced over at Michael a moment before he grabbed the neck of his t-shirt and pulled it over his head, exposing smooth, tan skin.
Michael wasn’t too worried about safety. He didn’t often think about things like that. He usually just did as he pleased. Which sometimes got him in trouble. He didn’t think today was going to be one of those time. His eyes wandered over Poe’s body as he removed his shirt. Even if he had seen it plenty of times before he still couldn’t help himself. “Sounds easy enough,” Michael said, following suit and pulling off his own shirt. “I’m definitely enjoying this already,” he couldn’t help but comment, eyes glued on Poe.
Poe chuckled at Michael’s comment as he tossed his shirt into the car and closed the door, glancing over at Michael, brown eyes taking in the other man’s body as well, “It wouldn’t happen to have anything to do with the view, would it?” He winked, hands on his hips just above the waistband of his trunks, “Come on.” He gestured for Michael to follow him the short way up to the cliff, “Oh, by the way, I brought beer for later.” He had a feeling that would elevate Michael’s enjoyment of the day even more.
“Maybe a little,” Michael replied, looking Poe over one more time and biting down on his lower lip briefly. “Cliff diving and beer?” he asked as he began to follow Poe to the cliff. “You really know the way to a guys heart… or in his pants,” Michael joked with a smirk on his face, not that Poe could see it since Michael was a few steps behind.
Poe couldn’t help but laugh at that and glanced over his shoulder at Michael, a similar smirk upon his own lips, “I knew I was making the right choice today.” He winked then turned his attention back to the rocky terrain as he continued walking towards the top where there were already a couple of other guys currently cliff diving.
Reaching the top, Poe stepped up to the edge and stared down at the waves below then rolled his shoulders, the wind blowing his dark curls around as he glanced over at Michael, “When you come back up, just climb up over there.” He pointed towards a spot where another guy was currently climbing out of the water near where they had just walked up from.
“Got it,” Michael said confidently. He wasted no time jumping off the cliff. That was what they were there for after all. He loved the thrill of it, the way his stomach dropped as he jumped. When he emerged from the water his wet curls were a mess around his face, longer and practically straight from the weight of the water. He didn’t care though. Michael never really gave a shit what he looked like. He just wanted to jump again.
Poe should have known that Michael would probably be the first to jump and he laughed as he watched the other man plummet down into the water and once he surfaced Poe wasn’t far behind. It had been awhile since Poe had cliff dived, but he still got the same rush as he always did as he was falling through the air just before hitting the water. It was a similar rush to the one he got when he was flying.
As he surfaced, he pushed his own wet curls back from his face before swimming towards Michael, “I should have known you’d be a natural.” Smirking he splashed some water towards Michael’s face then swam past him to climb out.
“Hey,” Michael protested ready to splash the other man back but before he could Poe was swimming past him and out of the water. Michael followed behind walking with Poe back up to the cliff to jump again. Although this time he let Poe jump first. He followed after making sure his jump was close enough to give Poe a nice big splash as he hit the water.
Poe laughed as the splash from Michael’s jump hit him and he shook his hair out of his eyes, “Trying to drown me now? Just remember, if that happens, you don’t get the beer in my car.” He teased, smirking as he swam a little closer to Michael. He wanted to close the remaining distance between them and kiss him, but he didn’t know how Michael would feel about that with other people nearby. “And no, you can’t just break in to get it.” He gave him a playful shove against his chest instead of leaning closer and began to swim past him towards the cliff face.
Michael wouldn’t have cared if Poe had kissed him. He wasn’t afraid of people seeing him with another guy. Michael had never been the type to hide his sexuality, Even if he had been beaten for it in the past. But Poe was already swimming off.
“You know it wouldn’t be the first time I broke into a car,” Michael called out before swimming after him and climbing back up to the cliff.
“Somehow I can believe that,” Poe laughed as he glanced down at Michael as he reached the top of the cliff, “But would it be the first time you broke into a car for beer?” He smirked and moved aside once he reached the top so that Michael had more room to climb up safely, “Is beer really that important?”
Michael had to think about that for a second. “Yeah,” he finally answered. At least he couldn’t remember a time where he had broken into a car for beer before. “But it’s absolutely that important,” he added with a smirk on his face before grabbing Poe’s hand so they could jump together.
Poe laughed and shook his head as Michael took his hand, “You’re ridiculous sometimes.” Poe was glad that he had thought to invite Michael out to do this today. It was no secret that Poe enjoyed spending time with Michael and thus far every time had been a good time; with the obvious exception was the night Michael had woken up from that one nightmare, but aside from that, everything else had been going pretty well.
Not caring anymore if anyone else noticed, Poe leaned over and kissed Michael’s cheek before tugging him closer to the edge of the cliff, “Ready?”
“And yet you still like me,” Michael replied with a wink. He wasn’t completely clueless. He knew Poe was starting to like him beyond just friends with benefits. Michael had no idea why though and he was sure it wouldn’t last.
“Ready,” he confirmed giving Poe’s hand a squeeze before he jumped.
