Even though rehearsals for Bandstand weren’t starting until August for everyone to refresh themselves with the roles and music and blocking, Marguerite had made sure to pencil in time for herself to start brushing up on the songs earlier than that. Which was why she was currently at the OCPAPB in the auditorium. While she could use the practice rooms, she would often also book the auditorium to make sure she was comfortable with filling the entire space.
Which of course she was. Performing was in Marguerite’s blood. The stage was her home after all. But it was still a good habit for her to have, especially on songs she was familiar with and weren’t ones she was needing to learn, which was often when she would utilize practice rooms so she could go through the paces and get comfortable. No. The auditorium was when she had the music in her body.
With access to the sound system, the actress had her practice tape set up. That day she was focusing on the two big numbers she had to worry about. First up? Love Will Come and Find Me Again.
As she came to the end, Marguerite took a break to take a drink of water before moving to Welcome Home (Finale) complete with Corey giving her the lead up with the picking up of speed and ‘sing’ before Marguerite began.
It had been a hard month for Davina so far. It was emotional and she was just trying to keep her head about water. Between everything that had gone on with her father, her brother coming home, the dreams that kept coming…sometimes she felt trapped. She was always trying to take care of someone. Just keep going. Keep the days moving and her thoughts as far away as possible. Moving out of her mother's house and in with her brother's and Raven was both good and not quite good.
There was less to do there to be useful and more time alone to dodge her dreams or her feelings.
Out, on her way to run errands for her mother, Davina came across the Performing Arts Practice Building in Orange County. She detoured, stopping in. At least she could get some information. Music was one of the things that helped her mind be at peace.
She'd gathered some information from the front desk and had a look around. Davina walked through, stopping to peek in as people practiced. Lurking a little too long at the auditorium, she managed to see almost the entire performance.
"That was amazing," Davina complimented her, just inside the doorway.
Marguerite definitely did not miss the stress of having to wait to see what would come next in the Dreams. Oh, she got repeats. And with five versions of her Dreams? It was always a toss up. But that at least was one thing she didn’t need to worry about in the questioning. Sometimes emotional bleedover still happened despite knowing how things played out. But all in all? Dreams no longer caused her turmoil.
Besides worrying about Armand as she knew he had started a second set of Dreams and she worried about what would come next for him. But there was nothing she could do about that except wait and be there for her brother whenever he needed her.
Finishing up, there was no Corey to turn to and hug as the show went on after the emotional release of the song. Instead there was someone complimenting her and the actress realized she wasn’t alone. It was definitely a good thing that she was used to performing and didn’t get caught off guard. It wasn’t the first time someone came into the auditorium while she was practicing. So instead, she just smiled as she folded some loose strands of hair behind her ears.
“Thank you.”
Davina hoped she didn't think she was rude for interrupting her practice. She hadn't meant to stay but she couldn't bring herself to leave either. The woman had quite a good voice and she couldn't help but enjoy the song a little too long.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to intrude. I was just..I started walking and ended up here."
If Marguerite hadn’t wanted the risk of someone walking in, she would have gone to one of the practice rooms. But between the fact she was already well familiar with the songs and just needed to get the feeling of the stage again? The auditorium it was, with all that came with it. But what better way to prepare for the unexpected that could happen during a live performance?
“It’s quite alright, you’re not intruding at all. That was the last song I was planning on working on for the day.”
"Well, lucky me. I got to catch the last song. You are quite talented."
Marguerite gave a small smile as she got off the stage to move to the sound system in order to retrieve her practice disk, “Well thank you.”
“I will let you get back to the rest of your day and not take up any more of your time. It was nice to meet you. I’m Davina by the way. I don’t think I mentioned that.”
Ah yes, the ever elusive name mentioning. No matter. Smiling, Marguerite nodded some, “I don’t think you did, but it’s alright. I’m Marguerite. Perhaps I shall see you around some other time.”
